For those of you who already received this update, here are the pics to go with it! Sorry its the same one, I ran out of time! About to head out cross country riding!! Hope my next addition doesn't include stories of broken bones!!! ;-) Things are fantastic! I'm having a blast. Work is so busy at the mo. We're experiencing our summer and it can only be described as F-ing hot! The norm here is the equivilent of an indian summer in England. Its great for my tan though. I've been working down at Alta lake on the concession, renting out boats, giving instruction and the such. It sounds pretty boring, but I get to hang out in one of the most beautiful spots in Whistler, chat to loads of people, hand out with friends, ... read more

Hey yo sorry about the HUGE gap in blogs! Just letting you know I have been working on my own webpage: Liza's Bebo Page Which has lots of new photos, blogs, news, and makes it much easier to keep in touch (since this site doesn't even notify me when one of you leave a comment/message! Sorry if I've not replied!) Plus it takes ages to add photos to this blog and that's why I put it off. And I'm slack. Sorry about that too. Anyway I've added some photos here just in case you don't want to JOIN bebo, which I believe is the only way to view others sites (maybe don't quote me on that) . But in case you do, its easy to join, and you don't start receiving junk mail or get messages ... read more

If Matell ever decided to build Barbie a town to match her ski equipped SUV it would no doubt look much like Whistler does now. Such a well planned village with near perfect log cabins built alongside. Whistler and Whistler Creek would surely spoil that hard working Barbie and her token friends with its pretentious glory and spotless appearance. I am not sure how, but the town is nearly too neat to the extent that you forget you are not dreaming while there…. Ah that’s the magic! Money drips from the walls here and it is probably for the best as there are few places you can go in the Village that doesn’t cost a fortune (plus tip) to visit. Even the internet cafes that lowly backpackers visit tend to be at least five times more ... read more

Mick gave me a free return bus ticket to Whistler so on Monday morning I took the Snowbus across to Whistler. The journey took 2 hours...I was dreading it having lost my ipod, but it was absolutely fine as they played us a film and I fell asleep! I woke when my head bashed against the window really hard, and couldn't believe the view. It looked like we were driving through a tropical island, we were looking over the lake and all the mist was lingering over the other islands across the trees. I met Lucy in Whistler Village and we took a taxi to the hostel. With our huge backpacks we stumbled down a really steep wooden staircase only to end up at a railway track. The hostel was immediately on the other side of ... read more

How's this for a day's commute? I left Whistler early Monday morning and firstly drove through the most amazing mountain scenery. Past one snow-capped peak after the other until we reached the beautiful coast line with views of the Pacific Ocean and beautiful little islands. Then I got to Vancouver, which has to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world, where I took the ferry past lots of stunning green islands to my destination for the week: Vancouver Island. Not bad eh? I had planned to sleep all the way on the bus as I was slightly hung over from partying in Whistler the night before. However, the scenery was just so overwhelmingly beautiful that I couldnt take my eyes of it. Sure beats commuting to Otahuhu every day :-) So this concluded ... read more

So everyone has been telling me how great Whistler is. And I was like, yeah, alright, I have been to quite a few great ski resorts so how much better can it really get? Well, a lot it seems. Whistler is like a fairy tale little village where every street and house has been perfectly architectually drawn. The ski area itself is over 8200 acres of both well groomed pistes and some great powder off trails. All in between the most beautiful majestic pine trees. In short, this heaven. The first day on the slopes I was like a little kid on Christmas day. Up and down (mostly down :-) ) the slopes, I was literally the last person on the mountain when all the lifts closed. So, today I am paying for it. Every muscle ... read more

Hi all - finally I have posted a new entry. Apologies to all those who dutifully added themselves to the subscribers list only to receive a big fat NOTHING. Well I hope this next entry is worth the wait! From the mountain photos below, you can see we are having a GREAT season. It just keeps snowing! February March have brought some cold snaps ( -15 degrees) and some sunny days, very conducive to après (or after work) drinks on the village patios. Staff housing is riotous as ever, with a "goodbye party" every second night or so, for all the people who were just staying a couple of months. Australia Day was unbelievable here, aussies are far more patriotic away from home, the photos below show the vibe. Most aussies took either Australia Day, or ... read more
