7:30- Use internal clock and get up with sun. Get ready in 10 minutes and eat long breakfast. Decide metro is far to easy, so we opt to urban hike Paris instead. 9:00- Race elevator up Eiffel Tower. Beat it no problem. 12:00- Start hike to Louvre. We would have swam the Seine, if we still had our swimsuits. 13:00- Re-fuel bodies with salmon sandwiches (or panini, or bocadillo, depending on your roots). 14:30- Battle tourists to get glimpse of Venus de Milo and the Mona Lisa, only leaving a few casualties. 15:30- Prefer looking at French statues... in the unpopular area of the Louvre. Reuse the "I spot titties!" joke we heard earlier from a fat American passing a topless beach on the Riviera. 17:00- Urban hiked to Notre Dame to please grandmothers. Said a ... read more

We've been getting trained on booking our schedule because some of the team will help to book the concert schedule for the next year. Our tenative schedule will include the following countries: Estonia Latvia Lithuania Poland Slovakia Czech Rep. Hungary Slovenia Croatia Albania Greece Bulgaria Romania The goal is 105 concerts total, for our team, from mid Jan 2006 to early July 2006. Very excited, should be really cool! There are two other concert teams (one will concentrate on Norway, and another in the Scandinavian countries). The concert consists of two hours with one hour of live singing, dancing, and a media show. Then preaching of the gospel and an alter call with praying. In some cities we may also do school visits before the concert to invite youth to the concert and tell them about ... read more

Europe » Austria » Salzburg » Salzburg September 8th 2005

Due to train scheduling issues, we had to write Prague out of our travel agenda, but on the upside we are spending an extra day in Austria so we got the chance to visit Salzburg! On the train over to Salzburg we read about "The Official Sound of Music Tour" and we happened to be arriving at about the time it started, so we decided to try it out (plus it meant we get to sit on a bus all day rather than following a map to find our way around!). The movie, "The Sound of Music", was filmed mainly in Salzburg so the tour went all around Salzburg and also visited some towns outside of Salzburg. We saw the house that was supposedly the Von Trapp family house (Leopoldskron Castle), took pictures with the pavillion ... read more

well, so far valencia is my favourite city in spain!! (although, that's not hard coz it only has to beat barcelona - sorry barcelona and your fans!!) i've had a really nice few days here. yesterday was fantastic. we went on a bit of a trek out of town to factory warehouses ans had a major shopping day - very unusual for me but i loved it. i bought 5 tops and a skirt for 45 euros!! i was so impressed with my bargain hunting. it was a very long and tiring day though - so many shops. today was lovely as well. i just wandered around this beautiful, clean, tidy city. the city used to have a river running through it but it kept on flooding so they decided to redirect it in the 50s ... read more

Europe » Greece » South Aegean » Naxos September 8th 2005

Yasas all, ended up in Naxos instead of Serifos as it is easier to get to Paros from here (only 45 minutes away). The ferry took us 5 hours from Athens and it was huge, we sat outside and I burnt my nose, I enjoyed it (not burning my nose; the ferry ride). When we arrived we were approached by a lady on a moped who asked us if we were looking for somewhere to stay she took us to look at a couple of apartments and we decided on the one without a shared toilet which was a bit more expensive but worth it as we have a huge terrace all to ourselves. Spent today at the beach getting nice and red and plan to do the same tomorrow except we are going to visit ... read more

Hi everybody. Sorry I haven't posted much. To be honest it's not as great/convienent as I thought it would be. Anyway a brief recap... I was in Florence for three nights. While there I did as much as I could in the city. I went to the Uffizi Gallery, the National Accademy and the Vecchio, I think, Palace, and the Opera dell Duomo. I climbed the stairs of the Bapistery, went inside the Duomo, walked the streets, checked out the shops on Ponte Vecchio, saw the Loggia and other outdoor sculptures. I made it to Rome on Tuesday. Saw Christine, who's in Rome for her semester abroad, Tuesday night. Yesterday I spent two hours sitting inside the Colosseum during a total downpour. Also walked through the Roman Forum and some the Palatine. Despite the weather I ... read more

Europe » Slovenia » Upper Carniola » Ljubljana September 8th 2005

Hello hello I am presently in Slovenia at the moment, in the capital city of Ljubljana. What a gem of a city, it has no big attractions but the atmosphere is the best that i have experienced yet. It's a city that has a large italian and german influence. We are only 100 miles from italy at the moment. We got here two days ago and before that we spent 4 nights in lake Bled up in the Alps. We met some very funny welshmen there who were obsessed with eating horse, its a slovenian delicacy. Spent most of our time doing as little as possible in the sun by the lake. Went canyoning which was awesome. You put a wetsuit and helmet on and go jumping, absailing and ziplining down this canyon. Got a bit ... read more

Top of the morning to you, Don't have alot of time today, but I want to update before I forget. Last night i had a genuine English experience. A friend and i when to a local pub to watch the England v. Ireland match. Pints, England jerseys, crazed people beating each other.....it was interesting to be an outsider observing another such a strong part of their culture. England did lose. People were angry and drunk. That's about all I have time for because I actually have school work to do. Cheers mates, Julie... read more
