The “Monuments” of Avellino take about twenty minutes to see. There’s the clock tower in the Old Town, Il Duomo (the domed church) and a fountain. If you are looking for tourist attractions and to take pictures of grand cathedrals and famous statues, skip Avellino head straight to Rome and get your camera ready. But if you want a true Southern Italian experience pull off of the autostrade and take the small, winding road inland to Avellino. Here you will get a taste of Italian hospitality at its finest and some of the most amazing food in the world. In Avellino, you don’t observe Italy; you live it. The village of Avellino is at the foot of a valley just a forty minute drive from Naples, or Napoli in Italian. I had expected country bumpkins and ... read more

The big day finally arrived and Rex Kneebone of Murvi delivered our shiny new Morello motorhome. A two hour lesson on the many systems (interrupted by family and neighbours who were keen to see our new acquisition) was followed by the formal key handing over ceremony. Rex then dashed off to catch his train back to Devon and we were left hoping we could remember everything that he told us - time will tell. What we did know was at first glance it appeared to be everything we hoped it would be and our choice of vehicle and interior colours seemed to be a success.... read more

From La Tania to the French Riviera (11th April - 7th May, 2007) Mum and I left London to start a road trip through the middle of France to the French Alps to spend a week in La Tania where I had worked and to then travel back to London with Bern and Elizabeth via the South of France. London to Dover to Calais to Reims A very long day of travelling after catching the train to Dover, the ferry to Calais and then driving a few hours south of Calais to Reims. Reims to Dijon Although we were passing through the champagne area of France there didn’t seem to be a grape vine in sight! We then came across fields and fields of yellow flowers. It started off being some sought of wildflower then ... read more

Well first off its Heathrow airport. I fly down to London from Leeds at about lunchtime and then i have to wait until about 2.35pm until i can check in (not too bad). Then its onto Madrid where I’m meeting up with two fellow GVI members (total strangers to me, and me to them, and they to one another). I fly out of Madrid at 00.10am and arrive in Buenos Aires at 07.35am local time, so taking into account the time difference its about a 12 hour flight :-( When the three of us arrive we have to get across the city (its big) to a bus terminal where we will have to try and..... mumble our way onto a bus with our incredible Spanish lingo. Its then 23 hours of first class coach travel ... read more

Hi All! Yesterday we went to the Museo Archologico, which had collections of statues and other monuments of the ancient Greeks, Etruscans and Egyptians. There is also one long gallery dedicated to etruscan jewellry. It was pretty neat, I am surprised it wasn't busy at all. I had pizza for the second time and again I am quite dissapointed with the pizza here... I don't know, but the rest of the food has just been awsome! We then did a little walk through the market agian and pciked up a few more little things, it is hard to resist, the deals are just so good. We just got back from the Accademia this morning, we finally saw David! And it's true, he is very much more impressive in real life. We also saw some other great ... read more

Trip to IrelandQuicker to get to india Got the boat from pembroke over to rosslare. Crossing was fine but journey in all took about 11 hours. Nice! When we were there car kept breaking down. It makes the journey back an exciting prospect really. Didn't get up to much while we were there - mostly seeing family and mates. Did manage to drop down to tramore for a surf. Well not really a surf - a paddle in the sea fighting the 1/2 foot waves. NAother strike as well over - nurses this time. At least they have a reason to strike - unlike the navy who were complaining a few months ago about the time they were spending at sea. Seriously, they were suing the government because they had to spend too much time at ... read more

So I just got back today's long walk and am ready to relate some the happenings here. My bag did end up arriving the day I checked into the Dover Castle so I have been able to change clothes and take showers which is kinda nice really. My first day of traveling, the day I arrived, I did very little sightseeing. Just took the tube to the see the Tower Bridge which is very cool. That night I had to find food which ended up being a hastle but the only real event of that night was that I walked into the Five Belle's pub and legally ordered my first beer. Sorry Dad it felt kind of strange that I wasn't with you but I guess that will have to wait for 21. When I first ... read more
