Sunday morning was reserved for shopping. Kate wanted to do a little souvenir searching, and so we went to a couple of spots where there were multiple shops, and took a little while to browse. Unfortunately, I did a horrible job of shopping. It is tough when you still have a camera in your hands. In the end I didn't make some purchases that I should have, because this was our last day in Scotland. The weather was better, with the sun poking in and out, and we tried to get some good shots of the castle, but there just wasn't enough sun directly on the castle for me to get anything fantastic. Around noon, we headed out to the country to attend a family BBQ with Caroline Hamilton, who we'd met yesterday at the farmer's ... read more

Europe » Spain » Andalusia » Ronda April 22nd 2007

I thought I should take Jane somewhere romantic for our honeymoon after the Thailand toilet situation. Ronda seemed like to perfect place. After all, Ernest Hemingway lived there and he had four wives...one is enough for me! Ronda really is a spectacular place, and when we arrived the sun was shining which made it all the more beautiful and was a welcome change from the cold, wet Granada. It really is a tourist town, most visitors come up on day trips from the coast. But after all the tours head home, it is a beautiful place to wander around and just soak up the atmosphere. Ronda is perched on top of a cliff about 750 metres above see level and the old town is linked to the centre by three bridges. The newest bridge Puente ... read more

The long trip home Europe » Germany » Frankfurt By peteandshirlApril 22nd 2007 We are now in Frankfurt, two days here to "prepare" ourselves for the flight home, I am probably being a bit over dramatic because I decided to break the 25 hour flight with another stopover in Singapore. I think a night at Raffles wont be hard to take. The purpose of this blog was mainly to catch up with all the photos. I need to back track to Berlin, so the photos will follow our trip from there. We had so much fun in Berlin, staying with Nicole for 3 days whist we all explored this fantastic city. Too much shopping, too much eating and I think you will see from these photos a lot of laughing. Next will be Hamb... read more

Hello All~ I have been getting tons of messages asking about more blogs. So here's the deal---we have moved into a house. We have been in the house for over 2 weeks and still don't have internet. Koi was able to download a wireless program to his computer but that means I can only use it when he's home from work. Also, it is very, very, very slow. Therefore, I can't download photos(there's also security things that won't allow it on his computer) and it is difficult to email b/c the service is so slow. I would love to go somewhere to use the internet but no one here has it! We are currently, finally, getting a landline connected today so we will be receiving our equipment for the internet sometime in the next 2 weeks. ... read more

its our last day in dublin. its been quite the stay. we basically managed to see everything in the city in one day...except for the guiness brewery, which we are planning on seeing today before we catch the bus back to london. yesterday we checked out a church and castle. we pretty much just wandered aroung though. there really isn't much to do during the day. at night the city is hopping though. we went pub hopping last night and met a bunch of students from various places in europe who have been studying here. we ended up tagging along with them all night. it was a good time...we're pretty tired now though. we can't wait to get to paris next! we have a studio apartment there. that'll be nice. we'll save some money by ... read more

Europe » Spain » Catalonia » Barcelona April 22nd 2007

Here in Barcelona at an internet cafe. Ive been here since Thursday night and will be leaving on Weds morning for the Peripignon area. Barcelona has treated me well, but I think it´s ranking about third in my big-city preferences. Maybe that will change after we go to the beach and wander around a bit more. I was a bit worried coming to spain not knowing more spanish than "hello," "goodbye" and "thank you," but it seems like more people know english here than in Paris. The city is fun and bustling, but I have yet to really lock into its vibe. Last night, Amy, Marie and I decided to go and explore Barcelona's night scene; however, our plans were cut short after an unexpected expense: sangria. You know, that wine/grape juice concoction that costs a ... read more

Europe » Spain » District of Madrid » Madrid April 22nd 2007

Ok, where do I start? Well, let´s just say i wasn´t so lucky catching my flights this time as i did last trip... So, i´m going to be on my fifth flight in a day and a half... So, I started at LAX to Cincinati, Cincinati to Atlanta, Atlanta to La Guardia, La Guardio to JFK (via taxi, hence part of my blog title), JFK to Madrid, and now Madrid to Barcelona... Let me just breathe a sigh of relief here. Ok, so there was suppose to be train somewhere in here but the train service has a holiday this Sunday, so that´s why i´m gonna be taking a plane to Barcelona. I have met some interesting characters. My flight to Madrid, i sat next to quite attractive girl that looked a bit like Selma Hayek ... read more

Europe » Spain » Valencian Community » Valencia April 22nd 2007

Hi all! So this week was not too interesting, I just stuck around Valencia and had some relaxing and fun times. The weather finally got better! I went to the beach in Valencia on Thursday afternoon, which was relaxing, just enjoying the sun and hanging out with friends. I was supposed to meet up with mom and dad for dinner, but they had fallen asleep earlier on the beach and dad was suffering from heat poisoning. So I ended up not seeing them before they left. But that is not a big deal because I will be going home in only a few weeks! It is sad to think about leaving, but at the same time I am excited to see friends and family and enjoy the summer at home. Friday I went to the beach ... read more
