Hello, Today has been a fantastic Sunday in London. Happy Father's Day Dad if you read this. It was fun to talk to you today! Jon and I walked out of our hotel this morning and took a stroll along the Thames. It was a beautiful morning and the tide was low. There is an interior design center right near our hotel with some beautiful decorations and we walked through there as well. Then, Jon Camille and I took a cab to Fortnum and Mason for lunch. Jon and Camille had Welsh Rarebit and I had a salad. We hit Boots for some bits and bobs. Then we went to Harrod's for some shopping. We came back to the hotel and had afternoon tea. We just got back from Lots Road Pub just down the ... read more

This was an amazing weekend overall. We got to travel to France among many other things. First, it was my friend Christina's 21st birthday on Tuesday and since we are good students we did not celebrate until Friday night. We did the traditional tapas crawl (here they are called pinchos), where you have a tapas (little appetizer) or two and a drink at one bar and then you move on and do this at several bars. It was a really fun way to see the city, we did this throughout Parte Vieja (the old part of town) and saw some places that we had not explored yet. The wine here is so cheap, it is a euro or two per glass, I mean it is not the ebst quality, but we are not wine connoisseurs ... read more

Our route Six more weeks of the rat race! Looking back the time has pasted so quickly yet I seem to have been waiting to go forever. The day will be here in no time and still so much to sort out. Jenny and I will: 1st August fly out to Singapore - 4 days here trying to blow too much of our budget. Then flying to HK - the flights still need to be booked but the budget airline prices seem cheap enough. Four or five days in Hong Kong whilst we get visas for mainland China. Armed with the latest Lonely Planet we're going to tackle China independently. We want to see the big tourist sites the great wall and the terrecotta army but other than that we are going to be quite flexible. ... read more

Yesterday afternoon Sarah and I arrived in Braunschweig to meet and stay with Leahs ex boyfriend, Sean ...looking quite American in shorts and flipflops. He picked us up at the train station and gave us the tour of his city. Then wanted to give us a taste of a typical night in The Schweig, as he so fondly calls it. We bbqed on his balcony and even though the grill smoke went right into his upstairs neighbors window, the neighbor just popped his head out to see what we were cooking and gave his approval. Apparently everything starts and ends late in Braunschweig. Seans rowdy group of German friends turned up around 11 to hang out before going out for the evening. It was an eclectic group, with constant chatter in English, German, and Spanish. ... read more

And so we found ourselves in Italy. First stop, the romantic, picturesque and expensive town of Venice. Us being on a budget, we stayed in a camping ground 20 minutes by boat from the city. What surprised us was the amount of kiwis also staying there, until we realised that we had all been priced out of the city. We spent the day wandering across bridges, through narrow alleys desperately trying to avoid the hordes of tourists. Despite the crowds and the cost Venice is a lovely city. Desparate for some fresher air, we headed into the mountains where we planned to work on one of our goals for the trip - to get into the mountains and wilderness as much as we can. We found a cute little town called Molveno, nestled at the ... read more

Well we have arrived safe and sound in the Czech Republic. It is hard to imagine this for us but it's even cheaper than Krakow was. We are all drinking pints of Stella right now for less than 2 dollars a piece. We took an early train this morning (7:00am) and were all asleep on it by around 7:20. It was around 7 and a half hours long and took the better out of all of us. Arriving in Prague in the mid afternoon we did our standard get lost as quick as possible and ask sketchy people for directions. It seems to work out well for us everytime. We arrived at our hostel around 2 in the afternoon and were all dead tired. This hostel is brand new and is real cheap. Around 1400 Kronor ... read more

Schiefe Boeden inclusive. Schoener Innenhof, und ... read more

Our day started off with a city tour of Krakow. We went first to Kazimierz, the Jewish Quarter (and also the location where some scenes of 'Schindler's List' were filmed). There is a memorial in the center of the street commemorating the lives of the 65,000 Jews from Krakow who lost their lives during the Holocaust. To my surprise, there are currently only 150 registered Jews still living in the city. I guess it was too hard for many of the survivors to stay after the horrors that occured there and many relocated to other areas to start new lives, which is completely understandable. There are several Jewish synagogues still remaining in the quarter but only one is currently in use. After Kazimierz we headed to Wawel Hill to tour the Royal Castle. This was ... read more

Today we all woke up and went to Camden Market. It was like a huge 4th Avenue Street Fair. They had a lot of normal stores and then a bunch of vendors that sold artsy stuff. They had so many cute clothes and purses. I had to try so hard not to buy anything. They had one section where they had food from all over the world. It looked amazing, especially considering the fact that good food is hard to come by here. We have all been craving Mexican food since we got here and finally found some at the market but it didn’t look anywhere near as good as Tucson’s food. After the market, a group of us decided to go to the Tower of London. Basically it’s a big castle and they let ... read more
