Today in Oslo we met up with Kathleen's 2nd cousin, Elise (pronounced Elisa) and her friend Hilde. That was so fun because they're both 19 and go to a prestigious school of dance, Bardar, here in Oslo. I enjoyed our meeting because they were fun and we became friends fast. We walked around the city and went to Peppe's pizza for dinner. It was great pizza, especially the crust which had cheese baked into it, yum. The combinations were a little strange though--beef, peppers, and pineapple on one of them and the other had canadian bacon, parsley, and red onions. We had a sour cream sauce that we poured on top which was a nice touch. I think we ordered too much pizza, but that made us feel less gluttonous when we overate because there ... read more

Traveling with the Hatt´s Europe » Sweden » Stockholm By ChipwoodJune 14th 2007Untitled Started traveling with Tanna and Marylee in Stockholm and we toured the city for a couple of days and took the ferry tour of the city. Then we decided to head to Norway for a couple of days before we went to Leksand for Mid-summer festival. We took the train to Oslo and arrived in time to catch the last train to Myrdal on our way to the fjords. From Myrdal we road the local tourist train down a steep canyon to Flan at the waters edge, stayed the night and toured the fjords the next day. In the afternoon we took the ferry on a five hour ride ou... read more

Well, the tazi was pretty nice. I wouldn't really know how a really nice one would be like, but this one was clean enough. The hotel is nice, too - nicer than I thought it would be. They have great service, too. Then again, it better be with the amount that I'm paying. Maybe I'm only 15, and I don't know how much it cost for a regular hotel, but that's a lot of money for just a one night stay. Well, maybe I'm just cranky because I'm extremely tired. I will sleep, and when i wake up, I'll get to see where the royal family lived. Yay!!... read more

I am finally in Paris, and finally coherent enough to write about it! I left Houston at about 4 pm Tuesday and got into London yesterday morning. I didn't have to catch my train until about 3, so I spent most the day wandering around London, mainly Westminster. I managed to see Buckingham palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and many cool shops and restaurants. There was an awesome park with a running path, I would have loved to have grabbed my shoes and gone for a run. I'm looking forward to going back next month. The chunnel ride to Paris was nice, if anti-climatic (we're going underwater!...and its dark). I got into the station, found the right metro lines, and found my hostel with no problems. The hostel is nice, more like a hotel. It's in ... read more

After leaving Canterbury, I decided a little adventure was in order. Instead of catching the eurostar from a station 5 minutes down the tracks from Canterbury, I decided to head down to Dover, and catch the ferry across to Callias. The weather was pretty poor, so visability wasn't fantastic, but it was nice to be on the ocean, and to see the beaches of France. From Callias I ended up catching the eurostar to Paris...a highspeed 200km/hrplus luxury train. I was super lucky to be meeting friends in Paris - they were able to show me all the best parts of the city, interpret menus, pick the "dity pickpockets" a mile off, and explain strange sites, and local jokes (sorry Fiona, I forgot to ask who owns the walls when buildings are built onto each other). ... read more

When we were leaving the manager came out of the store & asked if we could email him the pic of me outside holding the box for the store noticeboard - RJ said that he probably thought I was one of those 'Special' (ie: mentally retarded) Children and that's why he wants the photo... "Krispy Kreme making special children in the community happy..." Bitch. That is all.... Just wanted to let you all know. Lots O Love -Em... read more

There would be no point to this trip if Melissa and I didnt meet people from around the world. I think there is no point to see another country and try to immerse yourself in it if you dont meet its people or people from somewhere else who are trying to do the same as you. Paul, Melissa, and I are in Siena for 2 nights and we just came from San Gimigiano. Last night was so random and crazy that I cant explain the whole story on here since there is mixed company that reads these but ask me sometime and I can tell you the whole thing. SO what Ill give you now is the edited rather bland story. We left Casa Cares by one and spent many hours on the dull train. ... read more

Sooo I know you have all been waiting in suspense to hear the rest of the Barcelona adventure... Saturday actually was a really good day to be honest... which was well deserved after Friday night. First we all met for STARBUCKS!! I miss it soo much, and mostly because you can get it To Go. Places here just do not do that, even when you have food left over at a restaurant, they give you a dirty look if you ask for a box. Sooo anyways, after that much needed caffeine, we began our day. In the heart of Barcelona there is a place called Las Ramblas, and if you wanted to compare it to anything it would be like mixing Time Square with an open-air market.... not the best comparison but o well. So you ... read more
