Hi all, Just an update. Have now moved into Spain after three days tripping around Provence. Visited the Roman theatre, the aquaduct and did a wine and olive tour which was a highlight. Also visited within the walled part of Avignon and the Palace of Papes, this is certainly turning into a Roman and Christian historic sites trip - but then they both had such amazing influcence over the whole place. Palace of the Papes was used by three main Popes who moved the seat of the catholic church to Avignon around the 13th century due to all the civil unrest in Italy at the time. Each added his own touch to the Palace but unfortunately the taking of photos was strictly forbidden. The chimney from the main kitchen had to be seen to be believed ... read more

Just a quick post, nothing much to say, still no work but not really fussed (yet) but am signing up with a third temp agency on Monday so might get something out of them - the other two temp agencies have been useless so far. Booked tickets for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in early August, really looking forward to that as I enjoyed myself when I went in 2004. So far I'm seeing Adam Hills and Tripod (yes bloody aussie comedians) and Jason Byrne (at least he's pom, a mental one at that). Went to gigs on Wednesday and Saturday night but I wont bore you with the details - I had a good time at both at least! A bit of a hangover was had on Thursday and Sunday :-) Weather has been a tad ... read more

Ahhhh! I wish I had more time in Barcelona, it is such a cool city! First of all, I think I found food heaven here. There is a huge open air market place on Las Ramblas that has just about every food imaginable: fresh fruit, tons of seafood, bread, meat, pasta, candy, pretty much everything you could ever need. I had mango juice from there that taste like someone had just taken a fresh mango and put it in the blender. Sooo good! Today I walked around and saw some of the Gaudi's that are all over the city. I saw the sagrada familia cathedral, which is amazing and intricate. Then I hiked around Parc Guell (well, hiked as much as possible in reef flip-flops). Its up on a hill, so you can get views from ... read more

our camping adventures Europe » United Kingdom » England » Hampshire » Hayling Island By kiter daveJune 17th 2007 Our first weekend away to the coast and Dave could actually go kite surfing. We started off at one beach called west wittering and they declared that as a private beach where we would of had to pay £240 to have a membership then they would see if they could allow us to use their beach. We told them to F*#@ off and went to another beach around the corner for free which was called hayling isalnd. The down fall was that ... read more

My Journey So I made it to Rome safe and sound. The trip wasn't all that bad and I slept on the plane for most of the time, so it went by pretty quickly. The first person who welcomed me to Rome was a transvestite dressed as a cheerleader who was riding on a bus talking over a loud speaker. I'll get into the context of this encounter later. Once we got into Rome we were greeted by our taxi cab driver who was pretty funny. One of my buddies had gotten into Rome a few minutes earlier than us and apparently the driver was freaking out because our baggage took longer than normal to unload so we didn't meet up with him when we were supposed to. The only English word he said to was ... read more

We began our day with meeting our 3rd Amerigo friend at the bus/train station on the island of Venice and then taking the water shuttle to the island of Murano, famous for making glass specifically for the Mom member of The Son & Mom Bonding Excursion Team. Murano is much like Venice but on a less grand scale and definitely much quieter. We arrived on the island at the common Italian “siesta” time—between noon and 2:00 so it was difficult to find any of the glass furnaces in operation. We did find several who were making smaller pieces so we did enjoy that amazement. A special treat was visiting with a younger glass blower as he was making little animals out of glass. The Son of the team found a very unique, beautiful piece in ... read more

Yesterday, Flavien, M., and Mme. Martin went out of town to attend a baptism, while the rest of us hosted a small party. And let me tell you, it was interesting. And by interesting, I mean, awkward. So, only a few people were there at first. I knew all of them through that campfire party I went to last week. The drinking started and I reached for the Coke instead. But to reaffirm the fact that I don't drink for more than one reason, I sipped their drinks. The first one was whiskey and coke and other one was something called De Jaune with water. If I had ever swallowed Listerine, I imagine that the two drinks would have been similar to that taste. One of the guys, Jeromie, decided that I should try something not ... read more
