After months of planning, alot of hard work and scrimping and saving I was finally sitting on the the Piccadilly line tube heading towards Heathrow Airport. It was then, when it finally sunk in. I was about to embark on a journey that would change my life. It all started one summer day half way through an 8 hour shift at the place i loved so much. Thoresby Hall Hotel & Spa. I had worked for the company for two years and enjoyed every minute of it, it had been my life. I worked within the Call Center with four other girls. Some days felt like a drag and i would end the day feeling exhausted and adimant that i would never return. After a long soak in the bath and a good nights sleep I ... read more

Lawrence was the son of a miner, who went on to become the infamous author of “Lady Chatterley’s Lover” which was a band book in some countries for a few years. He married his professor’s wife after she left her husband for Lawrence. He and his wife traveled widely even going to Australia before he died in the South of France. Monday 30.11.2009 Day 47 Clivden Cliveden is an Italianate stately-home at Taplow, Buckinghamshire, England. Set on cliffs 200 feet above the River Thames, it has been home to an Earl, two Dukes, a Prince of Wales and the Viscounts Astor. It is now owned by the National Trust and the house is leased as a five-star hotel run by von Essen hotels. During the 1970s it was occupied by Stanford University of California who used it as an overseas campus. It was the meeting place of the so-called "Cliveden Set" in the 1920s and 1930s and the setting for key events in the Profumo Affair in the 1960s. "Cliveden" (pronounced CLIV-d'n) means "valley among cliffs"and refers to the dean or valley which cuts through the estate to the east and south of the house. The gardens ... read more

Today I headed down South to Nottingham with some friends. One of my friends was meeting his dad for the first time in 30 years and we went for moral support. We ended up at Nottingham Castle (where the tale of Robin Hood took place) and the city of Nottingham. We had lunch in a converted Cathedral, which is now a restaurant/night club. It was quite strange eating a meal while looking at stained glass and flying buttresses. My goal was to see the Sherwood Forest (which I have heard consists of about 5 nearly dead trees). I ended up forgetting all about the silly forest after walking around Maid Maryanne Way and dining in the Church of England. The Castle had a museum inside, which of course led to some very silly pictures. My friend ... read more
