Today was the first day of our real motorhoming experience. We had booked Suzy in to have her tracker system and alarm fitted at a company in Warrington. We woke early and took to the road. Why is it that the world and his dog seem to be on the road the same time as we are? It seemed that all the parents in the world were taking their children to school and the remaining drivers were making their way to work in Liverpool or Manchester. Surely there must be a time in this country of ours when the roads are empty? Wishful thinking !!! The journey seemed to take a long time; firstly we came up against the overhead gantries telling us that we should drop our speed to 60 mph, followed by a request ... read more

Hello to all! This is the first entry to my travel blog. I have been terrible at documenting my experiences since I moved to the England on December 31, 2011. What an experience so far! When I arrived I spent 5 days in Liverpool. I did not take any pics..I just wanted to feel it out first. Liverpool has so much history and it's one of those cities where you don't feel like everyone is in a rush to get somewhere. The atmosphere is relaxed and the fashion isn't too bad either. The women do go out during the day with rollers in their hair so their hair can be big and done up at night. Quite funny actually. Some of my favorite spots in Liverpool: Clubbing- Camelclub (a lot of Hip Hop) Shopping- Primark ( ... read more

I have been in Liverpool for one week and so much has happened. Last week Friday, a group of American international students all got tickets to the Liverpool Football Club vs Oldham Athletic match. Some students at Liverpool Hope University have been unable to get tickets for years. It was a great game with Liverpool winning 5-1. It was an interesting game that made headlines here in the UK because of a racist incident at the match. One of Liverpool's fans yelled racist comments at an Oldham black football player. It has been an eye opening experience witnessing racism in another country and seeing how Great Britain handles the same issues that have been so prevalent in American history. I started observing in my school on Monday. It has been a great week getting to know ... read more

Hey all, I arrived at Manchester airport at 2 pm (England's time, 9 am Michigan time) yesterday. Thankfully, my flights all went well. Not a single delay or lost luggage. I flew from Grand Rapids to Detroit, to Paris, to Manchester. It feels great to be back in Liverpool. I have already walked all around the campus and the local stores this morning. This week I have some orientation meetings. I am very excited to go back to Calderstones Secondary School on Monday. I am working with the same teacher I worked with in June. He contacted me that he can't wait for me to start. I will update about once a week. Thank you all for your support and prayers. This is a huge opportunity for my education, but more importantly for my development as ... read more

We've left Uk & are now in Kuala Lumpur where I'm finally catching up with Travelblog with the help of a diary. On August 16th the mob went from Liverpool to Chester on the train, good place. Chester has a wall from Roman times still in excellent condition & the walk around part or all of it is very interesting. The best way to see the sights is either a hop on hop off bus or we opted for a tour on a vintage bus with an open top & good commentary from a very keen volounteer who had great knowledge of Chester's history. Also had a trip on the River Dee but can't reccommend it as it was'nt good value & boring. Found a good pub which surprisingly sold Bundaberg Rum so settled in for a ... read more

After three weeks of travelling and me being extremely slack with the travel blog, we have found ourselves in Liverpool for two days of Beatles overload. We arrived this morning and promptly ordered a Fab Four Taxi Tour to take us to see the sights. This was essentially a big black cab (yes, the London type just not quite as expensive) and our own private tour guide for 3 hours who drove us around, told us the stories, took photos for us, and basically met Joel's needs for Beatles information. From Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields, Elanor Rigby and the church yard where John and Paul were introduced through to their childhood homes - we now have photos of them all. And to finish off the evening, we headed to the Cavern which is the club ... read more

I am in the car now listening to Damien Rice and making my heading towards The Linear Hotel in Liverpool for the night, I left Brighton on Monday and made my way to Nottingham which is about a 2.5 hour drive. I stayed at the Days Inn which, for the price, was very reasonable. I was very happy with the hotel. I got into Nottingham about 4pm and the Galleries of Justice was closing at 5pm so not to feel rushed I decided to relax, went down to the bar on the first floor to have a Budweiser, was nice to taste something familiar. I had a chicken burger and chips (French fries) for dinner with a nice side salad. Then I had a 25 ml after dinner drink called Cointreau. It tasted very strong and ... read more
