This multimedial museum I have visited two times. Free entry. Me and my friends noticed the most part of exhibition is regarding Titanic - the huge transatlantic liner which sunk during its first voyage throught North Atlantic. Second bigger topic of exhibition is submarines from WW2 times. In addiction to that museum we might visit in two different ones located in Albert Dock. All of the are multimedial. ... read more

What a great day we have had today. Decided to stay in Liverpool an extra nite as there is too much to do in only 2 nites. Hannah wanted to go on the Wacker Quacker - anyone know what this is??? It took us on a tour of Liverpool showing us some of the beautiful old buildings, churches, cathredrals, and city monuments. Fantastic architecture. Then we entered the waters of the Albert Docks and were shown around the area with all the old warehouses which are now converted into apartments, shops and hotels. We then headed off to a laundrette. Now that was something new, we hadn't done our laundry in a laundrette before. It is a relaxing time really, nothing to do but watch the laundry go round and round. Then off to the Williamson ... read more

Our flight from Hong Kong to Manchester with Lufthansa was a day flight so we didn't need to sleep too much. Although Hannah's body clock was confused and she slept absolutely anywhere she could and at times was a wlking zombie. It was a 747 plane but didn't have any inflight entertainment like Air NZ, it did have radio and movies on a big screen. Hannah watched The Tale of Desperaux, Night at the Museum 2 and Confessions of a Shop Aholic The German hosties were very friendly, although their English was not to brag about, talk about eat, they fed us with so much food we couldn't eat the last meal, and the booze was flowing very freely as well. Robert enjoyed a couple or three beers - "Wersteiner" very nice he said, more than ... read more

It was then onto Liverpool where we ate dinner in a quaint lil street ‘Lark Lane’. The pub we chose to eat at served fantastic food however a white wine was served after requesting a red, and a beef burger came in place of the ordered chicken burger! We didn’t think our Australian accent was that hard to understand…Walking back to the gorgeous ‘Ullet Suites’ where we were staying, we took a wrong turn in Sefton Park which saw us get lost and along way from home in the dark. After some local, friendly advice we made our way back to the Suites coming across the famous ‘Penny Lane’ in our Journey. The following morning we set off on the Fab Four Beetles Taxi tour. Our guide ‘Danny’ was fantastic! We saw where each of the ... read more

For Wednesday, May 27, I had booked a tour of John Lennon and Paul McCartney’s childhood homes. I booked it for 10:00 am, and the price was 16 pounds. You can’t visit the homes without booking a tour through the National Trust, who owns both of them. Turns out, Yoko Ono bought John’s childhood home a while back and donated it to the National Trust. Apparently Paul McCartney has not been back to his home, which he moved into when he was about 13. So, I walked over to the docks from my hostel that morning, which was probably like a 20-25 minute walk. We (the people who signed up for the tour) were supposed to meet at the Jury Inn. I took pictures along the way, arrived early, and after asking someone at reception where ... read more

Last night we went to see The Searchers at The Cavern Club. It was the last event of Beatles Week. They sang some of their tunes from the 60's. This afternoon we went to the Liverpool Museum because yesterday on the tour Johnnie was told about a very special recording that is there. It is of the song that John was singing when he fist met Paul at a St.Peter's Church afternoon tea back on July 6, 1957. There was a man there with a reel to reel and he caught many things. Yesterday when the bus stopped at the Church some of it was played for us and we heard from a man who was there that day. We were told that the recording sold for 87,000£. John was singing Elvis' Baby Let's Play House...It ... read more

As of Sunday morning: Boy, this is a non-stop place during the Beatles week. today the trade fair and convention started. the hotel is packed with people looking at the vendor tables, listening to guest speakers and (as usual) bands playing in a number of venues in the hotel. It runs like most conventions, get your package, pick your spreakers & presentations and go. Also today starts the Mathew street festival with 6 stages running concurrently with new performers every hour from 11 am to about 8 pm. at the same time the fringe festival kicks off for 2 days from noon to midnight across 13 venues. the fringe festival is more the latest music and teeny bopper stuff. of course the Beatles week music venues across the city are still going strong with the Cavern ... read more

we are in liverpool. came up on the train. it took 2 hrs, 15 min to go the 173 miles. i thought that was moving pretty fast for a train. on the news the rail system is talking about building a new line that will allow 200 miles per hour so liverpool will be less than an hour and they were saying that it would be fast enough so that you could comute to london from scotland. i quess we are a tad behind in public transportation! first day here we walked down to the docks to see a special presentation set up at the ferry station about john lennon. on the way back we found the cavern club but it was closed. liverpool has about a 10 block section of downtown that is only pedestrian ... read more
