Today we went to Capri which is an island just 25mins away from Sorrento. We took the ferry over and then had about an hour to spend before our boat ride around Capri started. Capri is beautiful, it has amazing clear blue water and grottos around the island. We went to the blue grotto where there was an hour wait on the boat to get in, but it was totally worth it. We had to transfer into a little row boat and then pretty much lie flat inside to get into the grotto as there is only a tiny entry to go into. But once you're in it opens up into a massive cave and you can see the light shining into the water, giving it a bright blue glow. As we were leaving the grotto ... read more

Isle of Capri and Amalfi Coast Italy 18 and 19 October 2013 From Pompeii, we got up early and did some admin work, called Kerrie & Adam and headed for Sorrento which is the start of the Amalfi Coast of Italy. Travelling 6 kms in 30 minutes will give you an idea of the road we drove on – windy, lots of people, lots of cars, including double parking, so slow going. The scenery of the coast however, was magnificent. I was clicking away with the camera when there were no trees to obstruct my view. We finally got to Sorrento at about 10.15am after leaving Pompeii at 9.15am (30 kms), found a park and headed for the Port so that we could catch a Jet Ferry to Capri. Yeah, yeah, I know we're home, and I've got to stop living in the past... But all these images and memories are still swirling around in my head--and I'm determined to get them down on "paper" for my sake and for a keepsake of our trip. Today we went to the island of Capri. I really wish I could upload pictures because this place is just so beautiful. We caught a ferry to the island but someone slipped down the stairs and broke their toe on the walk to the ferry (Sounds funny now but wasn't at the time). There wasn't much i could do we just sent him to the hospital to get it looked at. When we arrived in Capri it was raining so the boat ride around the island was postponed. We headed up to the middle level of Capri (there are three levels). By the time we got up there we had to come back down to catch the boat ride as we got stuck behind a bunch of school kids.
