After circumventing the globe, and any sort of moral conscience we once had, the Captain and I decided to take it easy for a couple days on the glorious volcano Greek Isle of Santorini. This is of course, not to say that our time here was without Mythos or Whiskey...it was just consumed in more, healthier and practical portions. Essentially the focus of such an island is the sunset tours and the volcano. So, in conclusion this island had rocks and gas, gas and rocks. Judge for yourself how marvellous these items can be. Oh, and there also was some lukewarm springs we frequented. For a travelling sea-goer, the Captain sure is a poor swimmer.... read more

Upon arriving in Santorini we checked in to a nice hotel just a 10 minute bus ride from the port. The hotel which would usually cost around 150 euro a night during high season was now slashed to only 30 euros a night. We played some pool, took a swim, and then made our way into town. The town was surprisingly full of restaurants, pubs and bars which I did not expect as I thought Santorini was suppose to be a more outdoors touring island, not a drinking one. So, we made our way to a few of the local pubs, had a few drinks, a few laughs, a bite to eat and then headed off to bed. The day was to be our first sightseeing filled day since our trip began. We took a nice ... read more

Hi Everybody! It's close to the end of our second day in Mykonos and we're so in love with this place. Last night we discovered Mykonos town and ate at an amazing Greek restaurant. After dinner, we headed to Little Venice where we danced to none other than year old American music such as, "Sexy Back" by JT. Kevin dragged me into some local bar where we made friends with the owner who assumed that since we're New Yorkers, we're automatically from Astoria (largest Greek population in NYC). We went with it and scored a free shot of Ouzo. Eight hours and a bad hangover later, we woke up at noon and headed to Ornos, our second local beach. We grabbed lunch and Kevin snorkeled by himself, since I skeeve it. He managed to find one ... read more

Well.... I sit here on the balcony of my suite in Mykonos and just wanted to get a few things down into the web journal. We have been on this island for less than 12 hours and it is so far better than I thought it would be. The prices are cheaper than I had anticipated, for example 3.50 EURO for a big Amstel at a high end beach front restaurant this afternoon. A quick note about Amstel - Grk Pete was right, you will not find Amstel Light but regular Amstel is everywhere and boy is it DELISH! Heineken is a huge fav too, if only I remembered that line Jimmy tought me in Greek meaning "another green one man." The ferry could not have been smoother or better; it was state of the art ... read more

Kalymnos, Greece is Paradise. Plain and simple. The weather is perfect. The climbing is amazing. The water is crystal clear. The food is delicious. You wake up in the morning, and you take the scooter over to the climbing sector. You hike about 15-20 minutes, and voila. Many climbs, at many levels, and some with beautiful stalagtites. Around 2pm, the sun comes out and so by now you are ready to head to the beach. You hike down, change into your swim suit, and head for the water. You cool off in the water, lay by the beach, grab some food, and whatever else you want to do. Rest and repeat. With all this paradise, one might wonder, Why in the Hell did I book a ticket to Israel?? Well, I have a friend I ... read more

Ha, Mykonos... the Greek Island of parties, late nights, and... gays? Yes, full of gays and or couples, not many singles you'll find here, but still an awesome place to check out for a few nights. It was a bit pricy though except for the 2 euro Gyros which is a Greek pita wrap thingy full of tzatziki, chicken, fries and cabbage. However, it did have a great night life, with bars and clubs open until 7am. Even at 3am grandparents and little children still run around through the streets and eat late dinners. The day time, intense heat, proabably why the locals sleep all day and do there chores at dark, similar to what I found in Egypt while I was there. Our accomodation: a shit little cement block with 2 small cushions to sleep ... read more

PART I The Captain and I have been into town twice now. Our adventures have led us against a swashbuckling Aussie Infantryman to erotic demon crotch thrusters. The Space Sirens thrusted in rage showing glimpses of glory while never bothering to lighten their brow. Captain Jones Smitherington and I seduced the sexy door guardian, only to be disappointed by her lack of punctuality as well as the emptiness of a lavish space promised. But we are faregoers, and travelling was our name. But of course, this was all sequel to the Mythos and our tango with the Brits. I believe my loins were broken twice said night, as the heart did not have the time to harden. Septemba can be so cruel and the Fee so slutty. It was after our bout with the demon crotch ... read more

What To Do If You Find Yourself In Oia The Greek Islands: a collection of vastly different ecologies that all have one thing in common - tourism. Amongst these hundreds of islands there are a few that stand out as the jewels in Greece’s island crown: Mykonos, Crete, Rhodes, and Santorini. Mykonos is known for its party life, Crete for its history and Rhodes for its coastal resorts. Santorini, sometimes ascribed with being the most beautiful of the many islands, is known for its whitewashed cliffside villages that tenaciously grip onto the volcanic precipices looking over the blue water of the Sea of Crete. We found ourselves headed to Santorini because Kel’s best friend Jen and her husband Jeff along with Jeff’s sister Tracy wanted to hit Greece. Greece, which is one of Jeff’s top ... read more

NAXOS Naxos is a truly perfect Mediterranean island. Its a laid back and relaxing place with some of the best white sand beaches and clearest water we ve seen on our trip thus far. It has a lively port town (Chora) with fresh seafood restaurants and a storybook maze (no joke) of backalleys in the old town fit for exploring and shopping. Naxos also has an amazing mountainous interior with many hilltop villages, churches, and ancient sites. The interior of the island is also covered with vineyards, olive groves and citrus trees. Naxian wine is delicious, Naxian goat cheeses are first class, and home-cured olives and homemade olive oil are sold at almost every corner market. The island also has its own liquor - Kitron, which is apparently world famous...and tasty. (we went to the distillery ... read more

Greece has come a long way since Nana Miskouri, however it seemed no less disappointing to me. I'm also aware it's been a couple of months since I travelled there. I've had time to reflect and so I've moderated my thoughts. Overpriced, overvalued, rude arrogant shopkeepers and business people alike. Shady characters assemble at prime vantage points, prowling upon the unwary. Of course this is a generalisation and since then I've come to realise that much of Europe is "overpriced", or lets just say expensive to avoid any controversy. In hindsight, I did meet a couple of helpful and friendly Greeks, the rest of them can go to hades. I briefly spent time on Samos enroute to Mykonos before stopping at Paros for a couple of days. There seemed little to hold my interest for long ... read more
