3-4 Days Spring Break Ideas

Need ideas for half of my spring break that I want to spend in Greece.

Hello! So, I'm studying in London, but want to spend some of my spring break in Greece since that is one country that I really want to visit!

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to try to do. I'm probably going to spend 3-5 days in Greece then go to Cyprus, or another close country.

I know I want to try to go to Athens, but I also want to go to other places...and i know the time limit is going to hurt me... Reply to this

If you are coming before Easter the weather is not really great for swimming and beaches, and most of the tourist resorts on the islands will not be open. In this case you are better off spending a couple of days in Athens (which you need anyway to see archaelogical sites, museum(s), the city - there is quite a lot to see and do in this 4 million people metropolis). You can do a day trip to Sounion, beautiful drive and the temple is among the most beautiful. Or you can go to Delphi (best with an overnight stay as it is a long drive). There are also a couple of nearby islands where you can go easily (and cheaply), Aegina, Poros, Hydra. If you are coming in May the weather will usually be nice, but you may not want to lie on a beach all day. You could go for a couple of days to one of the Cycladic islands which are so pretty, you can check out ferry schedules and prices on the web and pick one that is reasonable in terms of price and time. Suggestions are Paros, Naxos, Kea which are easy to reach. You don't need to book anything ahead, unless you are traveling over Easter when all Greeks are going traveling too. Greece is truly a wonderful country and you will find five days to be a very short time. But you can always come back.

Jacki,

Greece is one of my favorite countries. Wish I could go with you. You are going to love it.
If you have time rent the movie Shirley Valentine. A cute movie that takes place in Greece.

It is easy to get lost in Athens for several days - The Plaka has wonderful shops and restaurants. So much history in Athens. It is fun to wander the neighborhood at the foot of the Acropolis.

I agree with Inga as a trip to Delphi is well worth the time. I did it as a day trip but wish I had spent the night. That area is beautiful although it is a small town nearby. The drive from Athens to Delphi is beautiful. I love all the olive trees.

Santorini should not be missed-- it is like living in a postcard.
Mykonos is probably the most photographed.
All of the islands around Greece are amazing.
I love Crete. To see it well you will need to rent a car but it is an easy place to drive.

They have a great ferry system.

Thank you both for your suggestions! It's made it a lot easier to decided where to go and what to try to do! Reply to this
