Kirsty decided all this lying around was getting a bit much and we needed to get off our rears and actually do something. So, we bought tickets on a boat called the Albatros and headed off for a day around the island. The boat stopped first at the Volcano, (which we climbed.. because it was there), then off to a hot water bay where we all lept off the boat into the water as there was no pier. It felt a bit like the boat was going to sink since all the passengers went to one side of the boat, the boat leaned over quite a significant amount, and all the passengers jumped off. Great Fun. Then, it was off to some small fishing town on one of the close islands for a spot of lunch ... read more

Ok, I decided to purchase a cowboy hat as I thought it might make me look a little more mexican. (by the way, the moustache is going well) Unfortunaely, I may have started something. Our entire posse have now purchased cowboy hats and our theme of the holiday is to look is cowboy/mexican as possible. Steve is probably winning as he started growing he mo back on September 1, wheras mine has had a brief interuption. Mike has recently stormed from behind with a strong showing, however due to the late entry of Jase, his mo/mexican look requires some ingenious lighting techniques to be viewed. Small children please avert your eyes if you might be scared of burly mexicans.... read more

WOW! Santorini is amazing! All the troops managed to find each other, even though we were on 4 different flights and checked ourselves into the Galaxy Apartments in Imergovilli (which is totally incredible) We have a giant barn, cave dwelling which actually has sleeping for 10 people, (although there are only 5 of in that room) Our room has 3 bathrooms, 3 double rooms, and a kitchen. Upstairs, there is a pool, sun loungers, and a fantastic view. Needless to say, we won't be spending much time away from our hotel. It's pretty hot here, 25-27 degrees, although it gets cool in the evenings, (and what sunsets we get too!!) Strangely, the pool is icy cold, so I have developed a torturous 25 minute water entry method. Steve & Jo spent the first day sleeping as ... read more

Hello everyone!! I'm so sorry that I haven't written in ages! I've been busy sightseeing, partying, and meeting new people. Since I wrote last I've been to Budapest, Vienna, Prague, Lisbon, Sevilla, Granada, Madrid, Barcelona in Spain, Marseilles and Nice in France, Cinque Terre, Venice, Florence, Rome, Pisa, Ischia in Italy, Interlaken in Switzerland and I just spent the last 2 weeks in Greece!! In Greece I visited Corfu, Athens, Mykonos and Santorini! Corfu is an absolutely gorgeous island with mountains covered in trees, very blue water, and small, quaint towns. I would definitely go back to Corfu for vacation. While I was there I worked on my tan on the beach, went on a four wheeler guided tour around the island and danced my little heart away at the hostel club! It was fantastic!! Athens ... read more

We arrived into Corfu, Greece. Jon went on a mountain biking excursion. Wink, Camille and I went into Corfu and did a little train tour and then had lunch at the Imperial hotel in Corfu which was very elegant. The stop was very quick and we had to be back on the ship by 5:00 to set sail. We also attended a cocktail party in the Captains quarters. His penthouse is very spacious and amazing. It is good to be the Captain. Since Camille has been on so many cruises she is somewhat of a celebrity on the ship and we get invited to all of the great parties because we are her family. The captain is from Norway and has a great sense of humor. The next morning Sept 17th at 8:00 am we arrived ... read more

Greetings from Naxos!!! Our first Greek island. Got to Athens on Tuesday. Had souvlaki at the best souvlaki shop in town or so we're told. It was very good. Then off to the Akropoli. Peaceful, poetic above the modern town of Athens. Lots of construction going on with the Parthenon and the Temple of Athena Nike (we think that's the name). Still amazing. Greek dessert at night. Then back to the hotel from Syndagma. Very nice people. Got the boat from Pireaus to Naxos this morning at 7:25. Soft breeze and smooth sailing. Ahh...nice time for a nap. Now we are on Naxos. Had stuffed tomatoes and shrimp -- very fresh and very intact shrimp. Had Citron -- comes from Naxos. Green is sweet. White is medium and we think orange is the strongest. Temple of ... read more

Nat had come out to Europe for 4 weeks of tripping around and after 5 days in London, we both headed out on Paris on the eve of the rugby world cup kick-off, not that we realised until we heard it on the news at the airport. This does explain why we found it hard to book accommodation for our 2 nights in Paris. The flight was quick, zip, up and down. What a fast 2 days in Paris. On Friday we burned around catching all the major sites … Montmartre, Sacre Coeur, Louvre, then walked along the Jardin de Tuileries, and through the Concorde and took a ride on the ferries wheel, which was there because of the Cup, it was a great view of the city. We then walked up Ave des Champs Elysees ... read more

Hi Guys! First and foremost, happy birthday Mommy!! We're sorry we cant be with you, but we hope you had a special day. We'll celebrate when we get back. Secondly, sorry that we havent been consistent with the blog but we've been up and about enjoying every second of this gorgeous island. The ferry ride over here was great because we had our own cabin and it was a large boat, sort of cruise like. Our hotel is phenomenal, right on the cliff overlooking the entire island and the volcano. We are outside the main town of Thira, but we are totally happy that we decided to stay in this area. Yesterday we met another couple from Canada- ay! The four of us watched the sunset and we even had dinner with them in town. A ... read more

We lost all of our pictures on Naxos and had one day to replace them. ): But if you want to see Naxos pictures they are on the Naxos blog. SANTORINI-LICIOUS Santorini's bleached, white-stuccoed, clifftop village overlooking the most amazing caldera you've ever seen - its many restaurants with live greek music, seafood, and local specialties (ie "fried tomato balls") - and its endless black sand beaches that lead to the strange sensation of smooth volcanic rock nce you step into the water - has made this stunningly beautiful island one of our all time favorites. We took a sailing boat tour of the entire caldera, stopping for a hike to the top o the volcano - a quick dip in volcanically-heated hotsprings (where Erin so eloquently commented "I feel like I'm swimming in egg salad") ... read more

What had been great morning was turning into a beautiful day. The wind was whipping through my long hair and the salt spray was in my face. From my vantage point on the small, portside balcony near the front of the hydrofoil, a stunning seascape stretched out in front of me. The deep blue of the Aegean Sea merged with the cobalt sky at a crisp horizon, broken only by the rugged, brown island of Rhodes, which was directly in front of us in the distance. As the island got closer, the boat’s crew started getting ready for arrival. They got the ropes ready and then they hoisted both the Turkish and Greek flags on the mast in a peaceful gesture that I had first seen when I sailed on the bark Europa. I moved to ... read more
