Hey everyone! I would just like to tell you abut what an amazing weekend I have just had. I went to a Rotary club weekend and met so many people from all over the world! I met people from Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Canada and so many more... It really was awesome because the language everyone at least knew a little was English, which was so lucky for me! I got so many really neat pins for my Rotary jacket and made so many new friends. I feel like I really can connect with each of them because they all took this huge leap to go to another country for a whole year and they are going through the same process and they really do understand how you are feeling because they feel it as well ... read more

Hey everyone! I had a really good past couple of days... I went to the sea again this time in Wimereux. I went with Marion and Jo it was so beautiful because we went later in the afternoon so the waves were splashing a bit and the sky and the sea just looked so peacful and beautiful. Well school is still difficult but I really like my friends here and I really love how the students are so willing to help me out. It rains a lot here but I would rather rain than snow any day. This weekend im going camping with the Rotary here and im excited to see some of the people I met earlier on the airplane to see how they have settled in and everything. Oh! I went swimming with the ... read more

Hey! I just wrote a whole blog and it got deleted!!!! So I will start again, this weekend I went to a different town called Lille with my host sister, her boyfriend, and the host brother who actually goes to school in Lille. This weekend in Lille there was a huge once a year festaval! I got to see so many things and hear so many things and it was all so amazing. There were so many people thought I had to link arms all the time with my host sister because I was so afraid to get lost! But every street was lined with street vendors selling many different things. I go to see many French scarfs and some pictures and just all different things. I really liked some of the African things that were ... read more

Rain. That is all it does in Northern France. At least that is the seemed the first day I arrived in Lille. Actually, even now I'm pretty sure that's all it does. But now it's a bit prettier. My first day, I was overwhelmed and felt lonely. But that evening, I met some other Americans, a girl from England, and my next door neighbor from Africa. After that, everything improved. Diana is from Nashville,Tennessee and goes to MTSU. Kevin Hughes is from Tennessee, and attends ETSU. Shaheda is from Manchester, England, and attends the uni there. The city is old. When I first saw it, I thought it was old in the sense that it looked run down. Now it looks more historic, and I only wish that the walls could talk and tell me what ... read more

hey Everyone! I finally found some time to write a new blog. Everything is wonderful here and im doing really well. I thought I would tell you about the family im staying with...Marie Jose is the mother, she is extreemly friendly and helpful. She speaks some English which is really good for me because it is very hard at to moment to understand things in French. The host sister Marion is also very nice she always goes out of here way to help me out and she has let me barrow her camera until I get one. Her boyfriend Jovanie (I dont know how to spell it) is really funny and nice I really like spending time with them. The brother Timothy has been very busy because when I arrived he was on vacation with his ... read more

Hey everyone, To start off this keyboard is different because it is a European one. Their mey be a lot of mistakes. I will just sum up everything I have done because im super tired and busy. Okay first day, It was really hard saying good bye to my friends and family. The feeling you get behind the glass of the check in at the airport is so exciting and scary at the same time its like you know this is what you have been waiting for all year but then you realize this is it you are on your own! Then on the plane ride you start to think of all the amazing people in your life and what everyone means to you. I then went to the airport to meet other Rotary kids. 60 ... read more

Hello, I will begin starting off with saying thank you to everyone who will be reading these blogs. I really hope that everyone enjoys reading these. I will be leaving for France on the 26th of August, next Tuesday. I will land in Paris on the 27th at about 2:00 in the morning in the states. I will be greeted by Rotarians and my host family(s). Something very amazing that happened yesterday, An exchange student from France named Fleurine came to the states a couple days ago. I happen to be staying with her parents when I go to France. We have been e-mailing and talking for about half a year just talking about the differences and similarities between the United States and France and the culture and what to expect and everything. It has been ... read more

Well, the verdict was that I decided to give Lille a chance, and it turned out to be a very pleasant day (yesterday) indeed. I admit I didn't decide fully until about 11am; the skies were still very gray but I found a movie theater called the Majestic that was playing indie films in their original languages--and to my luck the one I had seen an ad for (Hallam Foe) was British and starring the boy from Billy Elliott, starting in just 15 minutes... so I took that route (plus it was time to find a public restroom!). When I got out of the movie at 1:00, I went seeking the Place (plaza) Charles de Gaulle in the old town, at the urging of the native hostel staff; turning the corner into that square was like ... read more

I am going to fill in some of the other days esp. the map so check for them...but first... After spending Sunday and Monday in Luxembourg, I returned to northern France for one last stop before I proceed to Belgium. I decided to avoid being in France on the holiday, Monday (Bastille Day), which apparently has a splendid fireworks show in Paris every year--but I have been to Paris before so only new places this trip, ten years later! The train ride through Belgium, and Lille itself has been very gray (skies) and I must admit I am not terribly impressed with Lille. I have not been to England, but it seems drab here like some of those industrial towns I have seen in the movies, plus some of the people have adopted the punk style ... read more
