I will be traveling from Paris to Milan and was wondering how best to go by train to Milan. Also interested in travel times. Any names and links are appreciated. Reply to this

I recommend that you use either the Deutsche Bahn (German Rail) website at http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml for planning train trips anywhere in Europe, or the website for the country from which you will be departing, in this case the SNCF (French Rail) website at http://www.tgv-europe.com/.

Your main option is to take a TGV (high-speed train) from France into Switzerland - there are a few different routes you can take depending on your departure. From there, you can catch an EC (EuroCity) train to Milan. Sadly, your travel time is going to be about 8.5 hours.

The best option may be to take a night train. There is a regular night train that departs Paris at 20:33 and arrives in Milan at 05:38. That is quite early for sure, but at least you get to sleep during the 9 hour trip rather than spend it awake on the train. Reply to this
