Wow, water sparkles. I can see my anchor and chain again. Been awhile since we have been in clear water. We have had to deal with bottom growth, hard. Trinidad paint job has not lasted. We made trip from Culebra to Waters Island with Non Linear and Cheetah II. Was delighful, no rough seas. But is coming, the short chop is coming. Weather has really cooperated, and it is warm, but not hot, and no humidity. We found Sea U Manana anchored along with 20 other US boats. We had not seen Sea u Manana since Georgetown. Deb and Peter has us over for drinks and munchies. Very nice couple with 2 boys living aboard. They own a 47 foot Le Pard Catamaran. We heard Annie II calling us on the VHF. We will get together ... read more

On Sunday 29h April we started our long journey to La Ceiba on the Caribbean coast of Honduras, right the other side of the country. We caught a bus to a town nearby to Leon and then another bus to El Guasale, the border town. From there we got bicycle taxis to take us the 3km to the actual border post where we spent 45 minutes arguing with the money changing sharks and still didn’t get a very good deal. Luckily we didn't need to change a lot. Then very conveniently a bus was leaving in 20 minutes to Tegucigalpa, the capital. We got that bus to drop us off at the airport so we could check out times and prices of flights to La Ceiba the next day. And we totally spawned it, because ... read more

Well i arrived here yesterday morning, after a lovely cramped overnight flight, where Emma and I were picked up and driven for an hour from Guatemala city to Antigua. We stayed in a really nice hotel yesterday....slept alot and walked around. We met two of the directors, Doreen adn Rahel, who are extremely nice, for breakfast this morning and they gave us an orientation, and took us to our family. Emma and I share a room- we each have our own bed- with a bathroom in it which is very nice. The family seems awesome. The parents' Chiqui and Gustapo, with their 3 children, Renee- he is about 14, Gaby- 10 and Paula- 5ish. Paula is so cute. She came into our room and started to speak so quickly in Spanish, all i could understand was ... read more

The last leg of this 28990 mile trip (I have this figure memorised because I bought a 29,000 mile ticket - 11 more miles and I would have had to buy a ridiculously expensive 39,000 mile ticket!). For all those of you that have managed to stick through my previously crazy long blogs, please take the time to pat yourself on the back. I recently had the chance to look back at them and can only apologise for my verbal diarrhea. I'll try and keep this one nice and short for two reasons: 1) You've probably got better things to be getting on with this bank holiday 2) I'll be home in two weeks to bore you in person. All beware the dreaded scrapbook that I'll be putting together. Having spent 6 weeks training as ... read more

This was not the original title of the blog... it was going to be something like, Bearded Monkey, Monkey Hut and Monkey attacks, but upon being given a brochure of a resturant with this as it´s slogan I had to change the title. Give me your ideas of what you think it might mean... Frank and Dody and i have ours. So I headed to Granada and spent 3 days lazing around in the hostel, The Bearded Monkey. I did walk around the city, sit in the park and take a lovely boat tour of the islands in which I saw some great monkeys, who were fed by the other boat drivers and accounted for why they were so fearless and came so close to us. But really, the thing you come to Granada to ... read more

My time on the ship is ticking away. Less than a month to go now. And as my time here comes to an end, it also is for so many other people. It seems like everyone is leaving these days. Since we changed itineraries, every Tampa has brought the departure of someone I spend a lot of time with. First it was Kevin, the internet café manager. Then Natanya, one of the bar servers, and Erna, the fitness instructor. Tomorrow Brooks will go. The next week it’ll be Sam, the social host, and Jason, the art auctioneer. Then Dan, another social host, then Eddie & Andrew, the jazz trio guys. That mass exodus of friends in March with the cast change was really rough, but this almost seems worse. There’s no time to just be anymore. ... read more

L'immense cimetière Notre-dame, le complexe ... read more

Attention all those shoe stringers out there looking to get to South America quick, easy and cheap. If you are one of those travelers who eats in restaurants with walls or sleeps in hotels with a concrete floor then this information is not for you, otherwise please read on. There are several ways to get from Panama to Colombia. The first and most dangerous is to walk a few weeks through the Darien Gap. If you are lucky you will not get shot or robbed by guerillas trying to smuggle bags of cocaine across the border, you might not starve to death from lack of provisions but perhaps you will be eaten by a crocodile. The second option is the most popular which is to take a yacht for about 5 days along the coast stopping ... read more
