We are a family of six, two parents and 4 youngters from 15 to 20 years old. This summer 2011, we will start a 12 month tour arround the world crossing south of Africa, North Central and South America in a Toyota land Cruiser HDJ80, while continuing in Asia backpaking using public transportation before catching the Trans-Siberian back home.
We are now researching our itinerary through Central America. We have been talking to some people in South America and Central America and we are concerned about safety on the roads especially in Mexico, Guatemala and El salvador. Seeing that you have done it recently and with four small kids and even driving back alone, we would very much appreciate any assistance. I am from Colombia but living in Spain since I was a girl, my husband is Norwegian, and three of children are fron the USA. We all speak spanish.
