Geo: 52.0579, -9.50747Today was a very busy day.First we started out our drive around Slea Head, which was an absolutely gorgeous drive. This was stereotypical Ireland- emerald green hills, aquamarine blue ocean, white sheep dotting the landscape- it was freakin amazing. We stopped first thin on this little pullout where you can follow this path down the side of the cliff and get some great views overlooking the ocean. Of course Chris and I were first down the mountain. Oh, there was also an awesome road sign on the side of the road. It's one of the "falling rocks" signs that had been graffitied with lil legs, so it looked like a "Falling Sheep" sign. lol, awesome. We continued around Slea Head, stopping at various places to take pictures. At one point there was an easily ... read more

Geo: 52.1517, -10.0567 So Anascaul was another little village in the middle of nowhere, but it had absolutely beautiful scenery. On our way from Galway to Anascaul, we stopped at the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher. Our group split in half at the Cliffs. Not everyone on the bus was on the 10 Day All Ireland tour like we are. So the kids just on the 6 DayNorthern Tour hopped onto another bus to go back to Dublin, and we ended up with several new folks just doing the 6 Day Southern Tour. Oddly enough, our group has now been completely segregated since getting the new people. I dunno what it is exactly, but neither side is really going to the effort to make friends and I think they may be annoyed with our partying. ... read more

Geo: 53.2789, -9.06619 Yes, I would be in on this epic blair witch adventure story had I NOT been sick in bed. =( I wasn't quite as sick as the night before, but still... the thought of drinking was not appetizing. Perty lame. So we stayed in the tiny village of Cong. There's maybe... a dozen buildings (okay... I'm exaggerating... there might be two dozen, I didn't count). It's a small town, and as our trusty guide said, it was very funny how ten minutes after the group arrived in the pub, half the village showed up. So they all had a wonderful night of drinking and then headed down to the local Kelly Cave on the way back to the hostel, which is a 7min (brisk walk sober... could be hours when you're drunk) walk ... read more

Geo: 53.5435, -9.28601 So, we left Derry for the last time this morning and headed for Sligo. I was feeling better from an entire night of nausea, but still worried it would happen again (and it did). Our first stop was a fort that overlooked Derry, Sligo and somewhere else (Donegal?). It was very freakin windy up there! It had these teeny little steps on the inside of the fort that you could use to climb to the top, but given the wind, was very easy to fall of. After that we went to Glencar Waterfall just in time to get rain and small hail poured on us. As we walked back to the bus, it was blue skies. Damn Irish weather. It can be pouring one sec and sunny the next. You just accept it ... read more

Geo: 54.66, -8.12So, yesterday was not as much fun as either of us were planning on it being. I had a stomach ache all night the night before, but I thought maybe I was just hungry. No big deal.Yesterday morning, we took a Black Cab tour of Belfast. They drove us around to view the different Catholic and Protestant neighborhoods with their policital murals and separated by "peace walls" (ironic name, eh?). The unemployment rate in Belfast is 33%- that's insane.Anyway, yesterday we drove out to Glen veagh ("Glen vay"). It's a castle in the highlands of the middle of nowhere on a lake. Being the middle of nowhere, that meants 2.5 hours driving on curvy bumpy roads on a bus in the rain. NOT fun. My stomach ache just got worse and worse. Chris picked ... read more

Geo: 54.5973, -5.93019Today was an awesome second day on the tour. Our alarm clocks didn't wake us up, but we thankfully only slept a few minutes over. I just made some nutella and toast to go and ran out the door.First stop was Dunluce Castle. We didn't go to the actual castle, we just looked at it from a distance. It's so freakin pretty right there on the cliffs. It's a man's castle, though... not particularly functional. lol. It was freakin cold out there today, tho! Not only was it just plain cold, but there was a biting ice wind going on.Next stop was Giant's Causeway. It's a World Heritage site over on the Antrim Coast, and one of my favorite pretty places in the world. It's just so much fun to take pictures of (like ... read more

Geo: 54.9981, -7.30934 So we hopped onto our tour at 8am that morning. There's 24 of us, including our funny-ass driver, Seanie. He hella makes us laugh. It turns out we have lots in common with the other travelers. There's like 5 radiographers from Australia ("Austraya"), an old couple (the wife is a nurse), Katie (a specialist who injects radiographic dye into people), a guy from Seattle, 2 sisters from Kentucky, 2 girls from north of the Bay Area, a cop who looks exactly like Elijah Wood (dude, he's even from New Zealand.. he is totally Frodo), etc. Everyone's really cool, and we've been havin lots of fun with them. First stop on the tour was Drogheda ("DRAW-eh-duh") to see Sir Oliver Plunkett's head and get some breakfast. lol. First of all, that is the most ... read more

Geo: 53.3441, -6.26749So yesterday I discovered I am SICK! How typical, lol. Two days of no sleep will do that for ya. So last night I wasn't feeling too well after sightseeing all day, so I just went to bed instead of updating the blog.Anyway, yesterday we went on our free tour of Glendalough and Kilkenny. It was much more awesome this time then it was two years ago when it was storming and hailing. Chris and I hiked halfway up the Upper Lake- we were able to see St. Kevin's cave across the water. Then we hiked back down past the Lower Lake to the Hotel and graveyard, round tower and abbey. Took lots of awesome pictures. It's just such a beautiful area! After that we drove through the Wicklow Gap, which was completely obscured by ... read more

Geo: 53.3441, -6.26749We both got loooooots of sleep, much needed sleep, last night. When we got back to the hostel after updating the blog (at an internet cafe), there were 7 Brits partying it up in the room. lol. Which, oddly enough, turned out to be a good thing. It was only 4pm when we got back, and still too early to be going to bed. We were both struggling to stay awake at that point. I was too tired to read or concentrate on anything, but I was falling asleep which wasn't good. So the Brits, one very buzzed/drunk one in particular, kept offering Chris onion rings. lol. Chris kept saying "no thanks" and then he'd try offering the variety of alcohol they had scattered about the room. Eventually Chris said okay and started taking ... read more

Geo: 53.3441, -6.26749Yup, we are STILL alive! It's been a hell of a long day.. or two days, I guess. I'm not really sure anymore. I am definitely a zombie, but a happy one. Both flights were pretty uneventful. It was raining pretty hard when we left for SFO this morning, but it stopped by the time our plane took off. The plane we took to Newark was kinda lame- we didn't have personal TVs. Chris managed to cat nap most of both flights. I was insanely jealous. I only got 3 hours of sleep before we left Thursday morning, even in spite of drugging myself with Soma. Just too damned excited! =) I didn't sleep on either flight, but I cat napped for an hour on the flight to Dublin. Which, I might add, was equipped ... read more
