Another great chapter ...
...in your Moroccan adventure. Time and season precluded our venturing further into the mountains and the desert, so I am rather envious.

Another great chapter
Lesley, thanks for continuing to follow my Morocco travels. I loved all the photos you posted of your own trip there, and loved the fact that you got to travel by train in Morocco -- a unique adventure in itself!! I loved Morocco and felt that even having 2 weeks there wasn't enough as there is still so much more I want to see. Hope you & I both have a return trip to Morocco in our futures!

We loved the chaos and allure of Fes. Thanks for the memories.

Fes
Thanks for the visit, Binkleys! There was so much to love about Morocco. I definitely have wonderful memories of Fes too!

I'm always on the lookout for new additions to our "Palaces & Castles" thread in the Photography Forum. Now there is this one from Morocco. Check out the thread and keep 'em coming Sylvia.

Beautiful Fes
I love your photos! They bring out the great beauty and colour of Fes and its wonderful architecture. You sure did pack a lot into one day! The food sounds delicious too! I'm sorry to read about your shin, that can't have been nice. How rude to not even apologise... I imagine you slept well indeed that night in your cosy Riad suite ?

Beautiful Fes
Thanks so much for the nice comments, Alex! You're right, the day was packed with activity and I think maybe one or two of the sites could have been left off the itinerary to leave more time to soak up the atmosphere in a more leisurely way. The beautiful architecture and tile work mesmerized me and one of the things I loved about Morocco! As for my shin, it just ended up being bruised but wasn't that a strange way to get hurt. I promise you, things did get better as the trip went on, LOL!!

Another fan of Fes
I loved the way each place we visited in Morocco had its own feel and look. We found the Médina in Fes particularly attractive and atmospheric. Those carts - and the motorbikes- are such a hazard though. Such a pity you were still feeling less than on top form while you were there. I’d love so see more of your photos. Looking forward to the next episode!

Another fan of Fes...
Thanks for your nice comments, Lesley! That's also one of the many things I liked about Morocco -- every place had it's own personality and distinct character. A fabulous country to visit!

How beautiful!
Wow, Fes is certainly a must if we go back to Morocco! Your photos are lovely and your writing really brings the sights, colours, flavours and even the smells of the city to life. As for your riad, it looks absolutely the sort of place I love to stay!

How beautiful!
Sarah, thanks for continuing to follow my Morocco blogs and for your very kind comment. I'm sure you'd like Fes and love the Riad Salam Fes (I have more photos of it to add to the blog). Fes has a unique character of its own, and the riad was more marvelous than I could have imagined.

Thanks for sharing Sylvia! The food sounds amazing. Ugh to the carpet store but at least you got mint tea. Great photos. I'd like to get to Fes with Kasha. One of these days!

Thanks for sharing...
Thanks for your visit, Donna! I think Fes is just the kind of place you'd love. I'd didn't want to dwell on it but the most disheartening thing about the souks in the medina were the plethora of starving (yes, really) cats, so thinking of Kasha I want to forewarn you. Another woman and I saved meat from our meals to give them every chance we could. Otherwise everything was great.

The Many Faces of Fes
That sounded like a cracking day out and the riad looks lovely. You've taken some smashing pictures too!

Budludzha & Serdica
We have been facetiming recently with our American friends and Bulgaria again crossed our minds. Three of our companions on our 4WDing through Tajikistan were Bulgarians and we have a standing invite. Gotta say your blogs including details of Budludzha & Serdica have helped keep it on the agenda, so thanks for that.

Budludzha & Serdica
Thanks for having a look at this page, Dave! Bulgaria really was a wonderful surprise and I'm so glad we went there. There's so much more to see there that if the opportunity presented itself, I'd gladly go back. It's a fairly inexpensive country to travel in too which makes it even more worth the trip!

Missed opportunity in Meknes
I can totally relate to how you felt about missing out on experiences in Meknes. We were there on a Friday and 90% of the souq was closed... but you had a blue sky for viewing the Bab Al Mansour Gate :) I am very impressed with your energy and persistence in Volubilis when you hadn't still fully recovered from being sick. We struggled with high winds at the ruins (it was Spring), but I can absolutely understand how draining a hot sun would have been! Looking forward to reading about your riad in the Fes medina (I assume it was in the medina given the narrow alleys).

Missed opportunity in Meknes
Ren & Andrew, thanks for your visit and kind comments. It seems like I experience more than my fair share of illnesses on trips, and in the case of Morocco I felt pretty bad for a whole week! I purposely tried to push myself because there was so much I didn't want to miss, especially after missing all of Rabat. Even with the strong winds, your photos of Volubilis were very impressive as always!

Meknes and Volubilis
I remember visiting these places during my travels in Morocco about ten years ago, but I don't remember much about them! Your blog reminded me of their attractions, particularly the amazing mosaics at Volubilis! Gosh, what a busy day's itinerary you had, I imagine you were very pleased to arrive at your Riad in Fes! Well done too, as I'm sure it can't have been easy just recovering from being unwell. Have hope that the postcards will still arrive - when I sent mine home from Syria, they took six months, but got there in the end...!!

Meknes and Volubilis
Alex, Thanks so much for reading my blog and for the nice comments! It seems writing journals and blogs lets me replay memories of places such as Meknes and Volubilis. However, I wish I had taken more videos. Wow!! Six months for postcards to arrive! That's got to be a record!! I'll keep hoping then!

Euromeet 2019
I am intrigued by this concept Euromeet so I will read on. Our Travelblog experience began as a desire to share photos of Mali & Ethiopia in 2011 rather than they lie in a bottom drawer. This opened the World of our travel community exponentially whereby I not only share my passion for photography and the written word, but I can share our travels in our unique style with others whose eyes do not glaze over when we do so. We have met many Travelbloggers around the World, entertained many in our Sydney home and even travelled with some in exotic remote locales. I open the pages of your Euromeet and look forward to what they will reveal.

Euromeet 2019
The people that continue to stay in touch via Euromeets are a fairly close knit group. We became friends for the same reason you state: we all love travel, most love photography and writing about travel! I have to smile when you mention that you like to share travel with other like-minded people "whose eyes don't glaze over" when sharing travel experiences. I've felt that way for years -- some people have no intellectual curiosity about other parts of the world. If I couldn't share my own travel experiences with others who truly love travel, it would be incredibly disappointing. I've actually had people say to me "you travel too much!" LOL!
