What a packed day!
You seem to have crammed a lot into today but I sense your frustration at having to miss so much in both Meknes and Volubilis. In particular it would have been god to see the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail Ibn Sharif from what you say. But the Roman mosaics in Volubilis look wonderful, I love your souk photos, and I'm looking forward to hearing more about the Riad in Fes

What a packed day!
Thanks for following my blog and for the nice comments, Sarah. There is never enough time to see and do everything in places I particularly like, especially it seems that was the case in Morocco. Although I would have loved to have more time in Bulgaria this year too as you well know!! But truthfully at this point in our Morocco trip, I didn't have a lot of stamina as I was trying to recover from being ill. Definitely wished we could have seen Moulay Ismail's mausoleum, but we saw two others which made up for this one! I'll definitely be adding a lot of photos of the Riad in Fes!

What an extraordinary image
I have posted some of your wonderful photos in our "Cathedrals, grand churches, mosques & places of worship" thread in the Photography Forum. Check 'em out.

Extraordinary image...
Thank you, Dave! That was so kind of you! I really appreciate it!

Brilliant
Great pic of a priest, his hair and his habit.

Brilliant
Thank you! This priest had so much character in his features that I would have loved to get a photo of his face, but I was happy to get at least this photo of him.

It is the expression & the poise of the hand
Religious paintings can be compelling or passe. The blank eyes, pursed lips and the not quite right position of the fingers makes this painting...not only compelling but extraordinary. Love it.

expression & poise...
Thank you for all your kind comments! Bachkovo Monastery was a treasure trove of religious art as you can imagine. I was thrilled that they allowed photography inside of the cathedral and churches there!

Morocco remains one of our favorites
Nice photo

Morocco remains....
Thanks Dave and Merry J for reading my blog and for the nice compliment on my photo!!

Meknes and Volubilis
Glad to see that you were well enough to capture this part of Morocco with a great account and some fabulous pictures

Meknes and Volubilis
Thanks for the kind words, Malcolm! Seems like I tended to pick up some illness when we traveled this past year -- just happened in December again!

Travel Sickness
Indeed, I think becoming ill on one's travels is all part and parcel of the travel "adventure"! Sooner or later I think we all succumb to it. It's heartening to read that one is not alone in such experiences...

Oh no!
Oh no! What an awful way to start a trip! I completely understand you on your initial desire to go straight home - I felt similarly once when I became ill in Kenya, but in the end I was also glad I was able to carry on and recover. I'm so glad to read you were able to recover fairly quickly and push through it. I'm looking forward to reading about your journey through Morocco ?

Oh no!
Thanks, Alex! Isn't it the worst when you get sick so far from home?!? I guess it's one of those things that those of us who are addicted to travel must deal with. At least we had 2 nights in Rabat so I didn't have to either be on the bus or on a plane the next morning -- but I missed seeing Rabat! I really enjoyed most of the rest of the trip! So glad to hear you were able to continue your trip in Kenya! It would have been terrible to miss seeing that country! Best wishes and happy travels in 2020!

Rough start but glad you got better so quickly
I have often thought about a trip to Morocco so will be following your adventures with great interest. I can see from your beautiful FB photographs that you saw a lot more than hotels after this bad start.

Rough start....
Thanks for your visit to my blog and nice comments! Thankfully I did recover quickly enough to enjoy all the wonderful sites and experiences that Morocco. Our tour offered a lot of variety. I found that most people were very welcoming and kind wherever we went. And, it was a photographer's dream. I would have liked to stayed longer in Morocco! Hope you will decide to visit there some day!

Oh dear!
What a disappointing start to your trip! I've had nights like that while travelling but never on the first night. There must have been something not right in the meal you ate, despite this being a luxury hotel? I'm so pleased Rick persuaded you not to go home. These things usually pass quickly, however dreadful you feel at the time, and it would have been awful to miss a trip you had wanted to do for so long! I'm looking forward to reading about the rest of your time in Morocco, which hopefully was a lot more enjoyable than this!

Oh dear!
Thanks, Sarah. No, it wasn't the food. Rick and I shared our choices and he never became ill. Neither did our fellow tour travelers. So it wasn't the fault of the restaurant.

Not a great start...
… but things can only get better from here. There is nothing worse than being sick on the road and just wanting your own bed, but I'm glad Rick was spared the illness and was able to care for you. The nice hotel room and gardens would have helped a lot too. What company did you book the tour with? I'm excited to read more! :)

Not a great start....
I despise being sick, especially on a trip you've waited for for a long time! Thank heaven things did get better! But after reading your Rabat blog, it was sad to miss seeing the sites that you did! Love reading all your blogs!

Bulgaria
No worries ? Welcome back from Morocco! I look forward to reading about that one too ?
