I've read quite a few Cuban blogs but have never come across Colon Cemetery as a place to visit - I'll definitely have to add this to our wish list! It sounded hot on that visit, but I love your photos with those stark shadow lines :)

Prior to our 1st visit to Havana, I had never heard of this cemetery either and I found it fascinating -- especially the beautiful memorials and the stories we were told. I was hoping to revisit it for more photos on our 2nd trip to Havana, but never made it there.

Desire to see Cuba
As my mom was born in Cuba, I always had a curiosity about her birthplace. After reading this blog entry, I'd love to book a trip! The sights and sounds (music) sound intriguing! Thanks to the blogger for a delightfully vivid account of Havana.

RenandDrew thanks so much for the nice comment. (Had to do some editing on the blog this morning, ugghh, so embarrassing!) I too loved the music from the Buena Vista Social Club of the documentary fame. Today the voices are not quite the same as from the original group, but the music is great regardless, and the show at Melia Cohiba was fantastic. I would love to go back to Cuba at any time but as you both know as well, other still to be seen countries are calling me to visit too!

I have to say, we had exceptional weather while on this tour! But none better than when visiting the cities on the Bay of Kotor!! I can now understand why people love it there. I can empathize with you on your current weather -- seems like our whole winter here at home was like that!

Although I have many and varied interests, travel is never far from my thoughts. I love reading and writing about travel. I never travel without a camera (or two) and a travel journal. While some view travel purely as a vacation and time for relaxation, I more often view it as an ongoing education -- a book with chapters I can't wait to read.
