Geo: 44.7338, -110.49The package was finally at the post office when we checked and now had to find ourselves a notary to witness the signature. Were able to get it notarized at the bank inside the Albertson's, back to the post office and off the documents went! With that done, we were ready to head to Yellowstone to see what we could see. It is a long ride but very beautiful and we finally arrived at the Grizzly Overlook in time to get a parking space. Cooked dinner and then went out to join the wolf watchers that were there. We did not know any of them. Had a nice little rain that cleared out the faint of heart and then we were back at it. Met a girl from England that had been to Yellowstone three ... read more

Geo: 43.4799, -110.762Since we were going to have to wait for mail to arrive, we decided to make the most of our time and go hang out in the Gros Ventre campground and see if the moose were there as they have been in past years. The weather was beautiful as we drove there and the view of the Tetons was pristine as it had been most other years we have been here. We did not see any moose as we drove down toward the campground but were hoping to find some in camp.Got the same campsite we had last year in hopes seeing the badger come through like it had the year before. Got set up and had dinner out on the picnic table. Had palak paneer we had brought from Santa Fe with rice and ... read more

Geo: 40.4879, -106.836A fleeing elk herd with calves !We were barely out of Steamboat Springs when we saw some elk in the field beside us. Some of them crossed the road and we stopped to watch them. More appeared and with them they had some baby elk that still had their spots. We have taken down fence in the Valles Caldera and one of the things they hope to prevent is the elk getting caught in the fence and/or getting separated from their young. You could understand this as the mother would jump over the fence and the baby would try to figure how to get through the fence. Poor little things! They were making this crying sound as they finally figured out how to get through. Fortunately they all made it through! We watched them climb ... read more

Geo: 38.5366, -105.992need to add pictures from small cameraMountain Road Trip Santa Fe to Jackson Hole, Grand Teton and Yellowstone National ParkWe had gotten on the road from Santa Fe by about 2:00 pm. We had gotten everything loaded up on Sunday so we didn't have to waste anytime on Monday getting things loaded.Stopped for a walkabout in Alamosa and got to Salida around 7ish. Found our favorite parking spot by the park and then walked down to the Boathouse for dinner. This is our new favorite place to go to because you are right on the water and the food is good as well. Visited with a young guy that is traveling around and had just happened to land in Salida. The bartendress told us about their new place called Rivers Edge that does have ... read more

Geo: 35.6915, -105.937Unpacking, Repacking, its what we do Volunteer at the WildEarth Guardians BarbqSeems that we just cannot stay away. Just got back to Santa Fe from three weeks in northern California and are ready to get back on the road. There are some fires burning near Santa Fe but the smoke is not as bad as we feared. We went to our exercise class and got some much needed stretching and a reminder that this is an important activity to do on a regular basis.Did some necessary unpacking, clothes washing and repacking and cleaning of the camper before we got it loaded up and ready to go.We had volunteered to help with WildEarth Guardians Barbeque. We arrived early so we were able to get a good parking space. Helped get things set out and decide ... read more

Geo: 35.0841, -106.649Beautiful Scenery on Flight Back to HOT New MexicoThe flight was pretty bumpy but the pilot was a very funny guy. Things like, "oops, they didn't have the road construction sign up on that one" and so on. Made it a little more tolerable. He also pointed out geographic sights as we flew along like Bryce Canyon, Marble Canyon and others. We were also able to see the smoke from the fire in the Valles Caldera as we flew in.We had to wait until around 3 pm to catch the shuttle over to the Railrunner so we sat in the cool of the baggage area and used our time wisely to catch up on some of our stories as well as do what I do best, watch people! The train ride was nice as usual ... read more

Geo: 37.8695, -122.271Robert's notes :As I write this Laura is driving and We are slow and go on the six lane 101 freeway headed back to Berkeley this morning. So glad we don't have to do this every day! Ack!This trip will be memorable for the coastal scenery including amazing spring flowers, rocky coastline, and wildlife sightings !! Our tent is wet from the thunder storms that moved through Bodega Dunes Campground unexpectedly last night. When we went to bed the foghorn was going off regularly every 20 seconds or so. I had my earplugs in so slept through most but Laura got up to go to the bathroom and said she was unable to go back to a deep sleep afterward. We gave up and got up at 6 am, hugged our friends goodbye and ... read more

Geo: 38.3333, -123.047Well it is finally coming to an end. We have to start heading back to Santa Fe. The original plan was to drive back to Berkeley today and spend Monday packing up for an early Monday morning departure from Oakland airport. Robert managed to make a good enough argument to spend one last night with Jerry and Naxdli somewhere along the coast heading down toward Berkeley. We all were breaking down our campsites when suddenly our attention was drawn to the opposite shore where we could see a heron fishing on shore and a otter fishing in the water! The otter began rolling in the mud with the heron keeping a watchful eye on him. Then the heron would walk down the shoreline, and the otter would match his movement in the water! Quite a ... read more

Geo: 39.4458, -123.804 It was another day of sunshine and we decided to go do a little exploring of the northern California coast. We decided we would go to MacKerricher State Park north of Ft. Bragg. it has a nice boardwalk and they say it is a good place to view marine life. When we arrived at the park, we were pleasantly surprised to see that there was no cost to enter the hiking area. The lady of the entrance told us to watch for whales because some of the strays had been seen. The boardwalk winds down the coastline with informational signs as you go. There are places you can go down and explore the tide pools or sit if you prefer. We saw people doing both.We got out to the area where there was a large ... read more

Geo: 39.2236, -123.768Kayaking with the tides of AlbionMoved over to Schooner's Landing RV Park, Marina, and Campground, Albion, CA and got ourselves set up. (see http://www.schoonersrvpark.com/ )The manager of Schooner's Landing had told us we could rent kayaks from the place across the river from them for much less than the nearby big RV Park. Said they had the lowest prices and so we decided to check them out.Turns out he was correct. The other place we rented from was by the hour and this was $13.50 for both our kayaks for as long as we wanted to use them. Of course they were not in as good a shape but we were able to have a good time anyway. Once again we had the tide with us and the wind was not as brisk as ... read more
