Kayaking with the tides of Albion

Moved over to Schooner's Landing RV Park, Marina, and Campground, Albion, CA and got ourselves set up. (see http://www.schoonersrvpark.com/ )

The manager of Schooner's Landing had told us we could rent kayaks from the place across the river from them for much less than the nearby big RV Park. Said they had the lowest prices and so we decided to check them out.

Turns out he was correct. The other place we rented from was by the hour and this was $13.50 for both our kayaks for as long as we wanted to use them. Of course they were not in as good a shape but we were able to have a good time anyway. Once again we had the tide with us and the wind was not as brisk as the last time.

There were several seals sunning themselves on makeshift docks as we passed by them. They did not seem to be very interested in us. We had also seen otter briefly. One of the most interesting things we saw was an abandoned houseboat in the middle of the river. Not sure what happened to it but there were obviously belongings piled up outside the
houseboat and it did look in disrepair and not in use.

On the way back to shore we finally located the nest of the osprey we saw fishing up and down the river from us. We also located a heron rookery where we had heard a great deal of noise as we left but could not see them from that direction.

Back to camp where we fixed fish we had bought earlier in the day. The sky had cleared and so we went to the ocean and caught the sunset. It was very nice and then back for our regular campfire session.
