Ever hear the term "travel bug" ? The travel channel likes to poke fun and say things like "you are not alone." and "I- have the travel bug." lol. Anyway, with my trip just 4 weeks away, Ive begun to think about traveling in general and what it is I love about it so much. First off though, I realize there are people out there who arent into traveling. For me, that is unfathomable. There are people who like staying at home, the idea of plane travel freaks them out, let alone international travel. I told someone I was going to Costa Rica. Their response? "why would you want to go there?" my response? "why wouldnt I?" Anyway, as a child, I think early on I was into travel. I was really into the Indiana Jones ... read more

I have been thinking alot about travel lately. Actually, its all I think about. That, and sleep, lol. Anyway, Ive decided to put together a list of the 10 places I want to see more than anything. Although, to be honest, my list doesnt stop at 10, but its going to be damned near impossible to literally see every country on earth! So here are my top 10: no particular order 1) Cuzco, Peru & Machu Picchu 2) Auschwitz II-Birkenau in Poland 3) Venice, Italy 4) Taj Mahal, Agra, India 5) Amsterdam 6) Haiti (only because I'd like to be a volunteer there and help rebuild, not because I want to be a "tourist") 7) Musee d'Orsay, Paris, France (I did not get to see this museum my past two visits and it looks like a ... read more

Plane ticket has been purchased. As of last Saturday I purchased my airfare to San Jose, Costa Rica! Allow me to explain.... in November 2009 I booked a trip to Costa Rica, a volunteer trip. A trip which I'd take alone. I've traveled plenty of places in my life, but I've always wanted to travel somewhere alone. I think its healthy to take ones self outside of their comfort zone. Anyway, I was sitting at work one day, listening to the other girls in my office all giddy about their upcoming engagements, weddings, and baby showers. Mind you, they are all 25 and younger. And myself, being 26, single, dateless, and bored in my life sat there....listening. "There has to be more to life than all this brew-ha-ha" I thought. I was a girl ready for ... read more

A nice quote from Thoreau there. =) Anyway....day 3 of the cruise was quite interesting. I'd gone to bed the night before at about 4:30am. Marcia and I had plans to get up at 8 or 8:30....I was going to die!! Well, we were going to be chilling beachside, possibly some snorkling on Royal Caribbean's private island; Cocoa Cay. It was going to be beautiful. Until we got up at 8:30. A note was under the door. "I bet that is saying our day at the island is cancelled," Marcia said. I hoped she was wrong. I got off the bed and went to check our night. "Revised day at Sea" it said. Our day at Cocoa Cay had been cancelled due to the weather and increadible waves, making it impossible to dock at Cocoa Cay ... read more

I woke up at noon, glorious noon. Today was the day it was supposed to be 80 degrees! It was going to be warm! And I was going to lay out and get a tan and drink pina colada's on the beach and -- It was freezing!!! We started the day off in the diner. Breakfast food was already gone so we ate lunch food. My breakfast was pork and rice and ice cream and tea. It was very good, actually. We hadnt signed up for any excursions. We just planed to explore the island on our own, take a trip out to Atlantis and then on to Senor Frogs. Yes it is the "touristy" thing to go do, but I had never been. And besides, we had gotten word that they have excellent beef nachos. ... read more

Marcia and I have known each other for 6 years. We met while working at Disney world back in the day, January 2004. Both of us share a love for traveling, dogs, and good cooking. Both of us share a love of Sex and the city, and we both definatly share a dislike of lying men. Lol, well, its true. So, us going on a wonderful 3 day cruise seemed fitting for our adventurous personalities. 2 1/2 years ago, Sept 2007 we had "tentatively" set up a backbacking trip. We would plan to leave on jan 2, 2010 to backpack across Europe. We had over 2 years to save up. We'd do it! Well....we didnt. NOTHING got saved up!! (although, I did make a trip out to Europe in the last 2 yrs....lol) anyway, this past ... read more

I woke up around 9am feeling well rested. Day 2 of my New York adventure. Dan is still dead asleep, I decide to pass the time by taking a shower, doing my hair, and put some makeup on. Problem: I'm not in a hotel room and Dan has no towels. His room mate is sitting at the table eating, whom I hadnt met yet until that very moment. I ask him if they have any extra towels. He walks to the bathroom and points at a burgundy towel thrown into a ball in the corner. "Use that one" he says. Um...that was the same towel I'd seen moments earlier. "I think that's Dan's towel," I say. "Oh..." then his room mate begins looking around the apartment. Closets, shelves, cabinets....there are NO towels. "I guess we dont ... read more

In the words of Sinatra. "If I can make it here, I can make it anywhere." So start spreading the news....New York. The city of dreams. I booked my trip shortly after my breakup. Sometime in April I believe. My good friend Dan, whom I met 5 1/2 years ago while on the Disney CP, we stayed in contact all these years via email, facebook, whatever. He was doing an internship for the summer at NYU and over IM one day said "you should come to NY" Well...I was like "yeah...sure" not really thinking that I, would ever actually go. Then one day I thought, why the heck not? Im young, single (well, now) and I've never been to the Big Apple. So...within a few short weeks I'd booked my plane ticket to NYC. Flying in ... read more

Oceans and Seas » Caribbean March 13th 2009

Castaway Cay. Now, this, this is a beautiful, beautiful island. This was actually my favorite day from the entire trip. It was relaxing, no gruelling scheduling, lots of food, and best of all....NO kids!! We had both been on a Disney cruise before and knew we'd use the adults only beach as soon as the ship docked. Once we got off the ship we went to get our yummy BBQ lunch on the island and choose a seat in a covered seating section. Boy, there was a lot of food!! Our only agenda for the day was to get the the adults only beach and lay on lawn chairs ordering pina coladas, relaxing, and listening to our I-pods. After we finished eating we caught site of a "crab race" which was kind of cute. Some kids ... read more
