Day 6 --March 6 -- Thursday So today we were on our way to visit EuroDisney, or Disneyland Paris, as its now known. We had to take the suburban train known as the RER outside the city to reach Disney. Disneyland is located in an area called Marne-La-Valle and not actually IN Paris, its actually 20 miles away from the city, and we kept seeing signs that said "Parc Chessy." I have no idea what that means, but I joked with Jay and told him, "It probably says that cause Disney is cheesy!" and I got one of his Looks, but really, what else would it mean? Anyway, Disney was the very last stop on the train, we waited through 15 stops total and luckily, no subway singers. That is annoying. We also passed through a ... read more

Continued from previous blog So finally it was the Louvre. THE LOUVRE. I was so excited. My last visit to Paris I did not get to see the Louvre. Well, I do have a picture of me standing outside the Louvre, but I did not get to go inside. (Long story) and I was thrilled to finally be here. The most famous museum in the entire world! I must say, though, we were not there very long at all. We were there maybe a good 4 hours. And prior to my visit people kept telling me that you could look around the Louvre in an entire day and still not see everything. Well, they're right. You could probably be in there three days in a row and still not see everything. But alas, we did ... read more

Continued from previous blog... So I titled this blog "Champs-Ely-what?" because for the life of me, I can not seem to say "Champs-Elysees" I always seem to butcher it and it sounds more like "Champs-Elyzays." Plus since we walked the entire Champs-Elysees, I figured this seemed like an appropriate title. Ok, so I had to break up today into two separate blogs. There's just too many pictures and stories to tell to put all into one blog. So anyway, we jumped off the subway, with the crazy singers, at the Arc de Triomphe stop. When I last visited Paris in December 1999, this was previously my favorite monument. (Although now, my favorite monument is Notre Dame Cathedral) Well, upon exiting the subway underground, we had to ride a long escalator up into the street. And as ... read more

So today we saw the Paris that they don't show you in the movies. We saw the dirty subway beggars, the people that try to "force" you to buy a bracelet, the graffiti on everything, and sex shops. Loads and loads of sex shops. Allow me to explain. I woke up in a grumpy mood with Jay telling me, "Erin don't snap at me." Today is Day 5 of the trip and I've gotten little to no sleep at all. We headed to breakfast where there were pastries, cereal, milk, coffee and tea. At 9 am, we were to load the coach and begin our three hour tour with Isabelle who is from France. As we began to drive around the city, floods of memories came back to me, when I first visited the city back ... read more

So we are in Paris and I am in love. What's more to say? We got up early today (6:30am!) and had our last breakfast at the hotel. By 7:30 we were on the coaches headed to the train station to board the chunnel, or EuroStar train. This was the part of the trip I was a little nervous about. The English Channel is literally above you as you ride in the train. All that water, all that weight, and yet, not a bump in the road. You can not feel the train going "down," but in the beginning of the train ride, my ears kept popping, big time, but that was to be expected considering how far we were going under. But I seemed to do okay. I sat and read the British version of ... read more

Oh gosh. Looong day. It was a complete free day away from the group and we spent the day hopping off and on "The Tube". We went to breakfast this morning and afterwards walked outside. Holy hell, it was FREEZING. I mean, a bitter bitter wind! Luckily no clouds. Our tour director would say "the sun has got his hat on" so at least it didn't rain. We walked to the Tube station and decided to buy an all day pass which was about 5 pounds. I don't like subways or small spaces, but I seemed to do okay. I thought I'd have issues on the subway, but I was apparently fine. Luckily it wasn't too crammed with people which is what makes me nervous. Our first stope for the day was Westminster. We couldnt go ... read more

So I must start off by saying, in London we had a gobsmacking good time!! Our tour director Joel kept saying "your about to have another gobsmacking moment. Do you say gobsmacking in America?" "No," we all said, but its a cute word anyway, which I have adopted into my vocabulary. :-) Today, was not as cold as yesterday, thank goodness, I have been freezing! Today we didn't know it was Mothers Day, or "Mum's Day" until we went down to the resturant for breakfast. The breakfast is pretty good at the hotel, eggs, bacon, toast, cereal, the usual. We met at 9am for our first three hour bus tour. Today we had a different tour guide and not Joel, his name was Keith, and he did an excellent job driving us around telling us all ... read more

So I wrote these blogs by pen and paper while I was on my trip Mar. 1 -10, so....enjoy!! Arrived in London about 8:30 am, after a long 7 hour flight from Orlando, which had been delayed. We flew Virgin, which was a nice plane, but very cramped. I slept for maybe an hour and a half. Jay got no sleep whatsoever. The flight was pretty uneventful, which is a good thing. So we arrived at 8:30 am, which was about 3:30 am, Orlando time. We went through customs pretty quickly and I exchanged some money at the currency exchange counter. I was a bit nervous, the guy from the tour group was supposed to pick us up, what if he didn't come?? Well, we got our bags almost immediantly and I began to look for ... read more

So I am writing this blog 2 1/2 years AFTER we took that trip. I am annoyed at myself, especially since I have had this blog for a long time now and have neglected updating it! Anyway, am going to try to remember the trip as best as I can.... Our morning consisted of us going to the US Mint. To see where money is made. Most the tickets to museums do not cost anything. Except we did have a specific time that we are supposed to go and see everything. I think our time started about 9. Anyway, we got to the US Mint for our tour. Sad to say, but within the first hour my feet began to hurt. Bad, even though we had walked a whole bunch yesterday, my feet were already giving ... read more

So the days started off okay. A little early for my liking ! Maybe got up around 7 or 8 ish and decided to get some Starbucks for breakfast. Got a nice toasty bagel, which was NOT filling, but it was the cheapest !! About a block away was the Metro entrance, which was a first for us all. (Except Jay, you'd think he was a DC native, he seemed to know where everything was) So we paid our $$ for a days Metro pass. The itinerary for the day was to go to Arlington National Cemetary and the Washingon National Zoo. The metro area was alot bigger than I had anticipated. Orange Line, Blue Line, Red Line, all we had to do was hop on the right one and we'd be on our way. After ... read more
