Hey Bloggers, We woke up to the delicious breakfast about 7.30am, we then spent all morning in the room watching episodes and using wifi until 11am. We paid and checked out of the hostel-such a bargain we got for a private room: £33 in total for 3 nights and breakfast! And never got charged for the bike hire!!! We walked the short few blocks to the supermarket, where we bought lunch to have on the bus. We walked on a little further to wait for our first 6-hour bus to Campo Grande. It went fairly quickly, we watched a Grimm and then the start of the film Insurgent-I’m currently reading the Trilogy. We then had a 3-hour wait at Campo Grande bus terminal until we boarded the next bus to Sao Paulo (13.5 hours). It’s probably ... read more

Hello People, We awoke early again but didn’t mind, as we knew that amazing free breakfast was waiting for us!!! Today our plan was to ride the 6.4km to Balneario Municipal. Our hostel Catarinos did bike hire for 15 real (£3) for the day, and they supplied the bike, a lock and direction there. We took with us snacks and water and started off, it’s easy to get to as there is one straight road through the town and out and turn left at the first round about!! We flew there even though the bikes had one gear!! We arrived and found out that you need to buy a ticket in town to get in this park, another couple turned up in a car and had the same problem, however once this couple went and when ... read more

South America » Brazil » Mato Grosso do Sul » Bonito August 4th 2015

Hi Family, Friends and bloggers, So we woke up early as our time clock has been beaten up lately… even though we are in the same country and just above Foz it is now an hour back! So everyone we spoke to in the hostel on arrival said they do an amazing free breakfast here, and we were not let down!!! In all of South America so far it has been bread and jam/dulce de leche, at this hostel however, it was a full on feast of fruit, bread, ham, cheese’s and cakes of all kinds, plus 4 different juices to drink!! We were in heaven!!! The hostel is a really nice family run place, everything is clean and their son speaks English and helps book up all the tours. They have a fridge for food ... read more

Hello Everyone, About 7.30am we arrived into Campo Grande, we then bought some breakfast at the terminal, and also bought our onward bus ticket to Bonito, which was a 3-hour wait until it left and then another 6 hours on that bus. Urhhhh! Best part was this ladyboy who looked like she had a fake bum and lip implants, and when she turned around and put her bag down had a big old stiffy sticking through her dress!! LOL everyone seemed to be looking at him..I mean her…and the stiffy!!! The bus stopped for 45 minutes for lunch on that journey, which did break it up a bit. We had some local food on a self-service buffet; it was nice and only £3. When we arrived at 3pm, we were met at the terminal by the ... read more

South America » Brazil » Paraná » Foz do Iguaçu August 2nd 2015

Hey People, Iguassu Falls was created as the result of a volcanic eruption that left a large crack in the earth. Taller than Niagara Falls (and twice as wide), Iguassu consists of 275 cascading falls spread out over nearly 2 miles (3.2 km) in a horseshoe shape. During the rainy season, between November and March, the rate of water that flows over the falls can reach more than 450,000 cubic feet (12,750 cubic m) per second. In short, it’s a phenomenal natural wonder that we want to see from as many angles as possible, which is why we are going over to the Brazilian side today to see the falls. After our free breakfast at the hostel, the Viator Company who we booked through picked us up again. Leaving Puerto Iguazú behind, we crossed the border ... read more

Hi Friends, Family and bloggers, After having the tasty free breakfast at the hostel we were picked up by the tour company from the hostel, where we travelled the short distance in a coach with our Spanish speaking guide (was meant to be an English speaking tour) to Iguazú National Park, where we spent the day on the Argentinian side of Iguassu Falls. The most important thing to bring today was our camera for this natural wonder, one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature, where Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay meet. We were amazed as 400,000 gallons (1.5 million liters) of water a second plummet onto the rocks below in a network of more than 270 waterfalls. Our guided visit (booked through Viator as it was very competitively priced) took us to the park’s three tiers, ... read more

South America » Argentina » Misiones » Puerto Iguazú July 31st 2015

Hello All, Today we had a relaxing day to catch up on sleep and blogs. It is about 25’C now so we are both in shorts, shirts and flip-flops. We had a little wander around Puerto Iguassu town, buying rolls, cheese and salami for lunch and tomorrows lunch on our tour. We haven’t met anyone that speaks English at our hostel yet; we generally haven’t been that lucky with that across all of South America, it may just be because we are in the winter season… Our budget had definitely gone through the window! If we were going home round about now and were to miss out N. America we would be on target but would have only travelled for 10 month. Oh well, we are going to enjoy the rest of it fully and work ... read more

South America » Argentina » Misiones » Puerto Iguazú July 30th 2015

Hi, We arrived in Puerto Iguazu at around 0900, so only 1.5 hours late, and found our hostel Noelia quick enough, however, they made us wait till 1200 to check in so we caught up on the internet and I even had a swim…yes people it was 27 degrees up here so it was finally time to ditch the ski coat and bring out the flip flops!! So happy!!! The hostel also decided to add an extra 21% tax on to our 3 night total fee, which we found it hard to dispute in Spanish, so we just emailed hostel world instead to sort it out. Hostel world are saying we don’t have to pay it but the hostel is, so if we want to stay here then I guess we’ll have to pay it. Grrrrr. ... read more

Hello Bloggers, So today we had our return ferry trip back to Buenos Aries, it’s cheaper and easier to get a bus to Iguazu from Buenos Aries than getting it from Uruguay, also it’s cheaper to get the ferry back and bus!!! If you’re going to get this ferry, book it up through colonicexpress.com as it’s the cheapest and book way ahead of time as it will be a lot lot cheaper, also remember that the tax is more that the ticket!!! We paid ARG$99 peso to get back but with tax was ARG$250 but still pretty cheap!!! In total our return ferry journey was ARG$800 (£50) The ferry was simple enough and took only 50 mins back; we got out of the ferry port quick and walked along Puerto Madero toward Retiro where our bus ... read more

Hello Everyone, So we got up early for our free breakfast, again it was bread and dolce leche (awesome sweet milk spread). We were leaving to head back to Colonia today but our bus was at 1430 so we still had all morning to explore!! We went for a walk in the early morning down to the Rambla-waterfront where the joggers are, we attempted a 5 minute jog but it is evident we clearly need to get back in the gym. It is a lot warmer in Montevideo, so Vick can now stop wearing the ski coat! One area to visit is ‘Mercado del Puerto, a fantastic restaurant area, here they had lots of Asado’s, so the best time to see this really is at night. Our early morning walk took us into the Plaza Independencia, ... read more
