Hello People,
We awoke early again but didn’t mind, as we knew that amazing free breakfast was waiting for us!!!
Today our plan was to ride the 6.4km to Balneario Municipal. Our hostel Catarinos did bike hire for 15 real (£3) for the day, and they supplied the bike, a lock and direction there.
We took with us snacks and water and started off, it’s easy to get to as there is one straight road through the town and out and turn left at the first round about!! We flew there even though the bikes had one gear!!
We arrived and found out that you need to buy a ticket in town to get in this park, another couple turned up in a car and had the same problem, however once this couple went and when we started to ride off, the people on the gate called us back and let us in for free!! WOO HOO!!!
The area was beautiful and very relaxed, there are a few restaurants there and had hire shops for snorkels and sunbeds. We just put our towels on the ground
and went for a swim in the crystal clear river full of huge fish.
We sunbathed for a while before taking the plunge and getting in the cold river with the fish, it was so nice as the temp had got up to 32 degrees C. The fish avoided us like the plague but that was good (no piranhas!), we swam around and then returned to the sunbathing first time since Fiji 2 months ago!!!
We kept repeating this swim/sunbath routine and eventually got talking to a couple of girls one English and one Norwegian, they were travelling for 2 months and going the opposite way from us so we told them all the cool things to do and cheap places to stay. It’s nice passing on information, as people have done the same for us, it really helps!!
At about 14:30 we decided to head back and grab a late lunch and to chill for a while at the hostel, we got back a bit slower as the wind was in our faces and it was slightly uphill L We went to the supermarket and loaded up on cheese, ham
and rolls for lunch and for tomorrows lunch. Again it is amazing how cheap things are here!!!
We got back ate and chilled, we decided to head out for dinner tonight as we had been eating pasta for the last few days now. We headed out about 20:00 and wanted to go to this restaurant Taboa bar that was in the lonely planet. It was really decent and cheap! We saw the girls from earlier in the day but wanted a date night so sat just the two of us.
So we ordered beer and the famous Brazilian cocktail Caipirinha , special Brazilian liquor with lime sugar and lemonade…mmm it was tasty!! We ordered steak sandwiches with onion and cheese, they were only £2 so we didn’t expect much but they were amazing no fat and cooked perfectly!!
We left very happy and slightly merry as well, we wander back looking at a few shops, but once back it was quiet again so we watched a TV show, chatted and hit the hay about 23:30.
We had a great day today and it has made it worth coming
all the way up to Bonito now. Tomorrow is the hell that is 24+ hours of travelling to Sao Paulo.
Love N&V X
