We arrived in the bohemian town of Pai via the best bus ever! Our little minibus driver kept shouting 'I love you' to random people in the streets.. Beeping and slowing down and just shouting’I love you'! This put us in a good mood from the off. We met a couple from Derry Laura and Liam who are also on their way to Australia. We discovered that they were also going to Charn Chai Muay Thai Boxing training. So we bagan the next day. Training consisted of going for a run at 7 30am if you wished to then two hours of training finished off with lots of kicking and a core strength session! Chiang Mai: 08/11 to 11/11 We spend again few days at Baan Guesthouse in Bangkok where we meet again with our friend Leon. After a good 12h train journey to Chiang Mai, we settled down in the old down and spend a couple of days. We went to a Muai Thai boxing show... you have 7 fights starting with young fighters, women and then more substancial fighters. The last fight was between a French man and a Thai. Of course the French won !! There is also a surprise fight: 6 fat guys are blinded and have a fight against each other (as entertainment during the interval!) soo funny !! Po skorom spanku,isiel som uz 21/15,bol som opity,2 piva robili divy ,som sa asi 2/45 zobudil a nemohol zaspat,potom o 5/30 a definitivne o 8/30.Asi nervozita pred jazdou.Vcera som najazdil okolo 130km.Check out neprebehol bez problemov,chceli mi uctovat jeden den navyse.V ubytku som nechal batoh a tur.topanky. Vybral som sa na pumpu.Tu ma dostali,naschval som hladan stojan so zelenou 91,ta je lacnejsia.Davam dole helmu,vyberam penazenku a pumpar mi tam uz laduje cervenu 91.Kurnik bol to okamih,musim si davat lepsi pozr,kurva thajska.Na ranajky som si dal croasant v 7/11 a vybral som sa smer Mae Hong Son. Cesta tam bola nadherna,neopisatelna priroda.V usiach mi hral mix pesniciek,svistal som si to zvacsa 30-50km/hod aby som si mohol vychutnat prirodu,dost casto som stal kvoli foto. Rano ma budia kohuti okolo 8/30.Este hodinu som v posteli.Balim sa a idem na trek k vodopadu,podla recepcneho 2.5 hodiny a vraj budem brodit aj rieku.naviguje ma na stezku. Konecne normalna zem a nie asfalt.Okolie je nadherne,palmy,policka,hory,obcas psi.Tych je tu fakt vela. Dostavam sa na razcestie,pytam sa miestnych,naviguju ma. Konecne vidim aj navigacnu tabulu.Idem po starom ryzovom poli ,dostavam sa k vode.Treba ist na druhu stranu.Davam dole turisticke topanky a ide sa.Voda je riadne ladova.Prechadzam asi 100m a zas voda a brodenie.Opat davam dole topanky.dalsich 50m a zas to iste.Zacina mensia dzungla.Strasne vlhko tu je.Cesticka je vyslapana ale inak ziadne znacenie.A zasa voda,uz na to serem,idem v topankach cez nu,tu prechadam asi este 20x.Boty mam uplne mokre,dostala sa mi aj dnu voda. Wikipedia tells me there are 762 curves and most of them hairpin in nature on the road to Pai. I didn't count them as I was too busy closing my eyes and blocking out the sound of the lady sat next to me being sick into a crisp packet. Pai is a quaint calming place with spectacular countryside and abundant tranquillity. There are about 3000 residents, many it appears are ex pats that have stayed to enjoy the peace and the weed. The town centre is a quiet few roads lined with organic eateries, bars, jewellery shops, tattoo studios and guesthouses. If I'm honest I was a bit disappointed, I was expecting it to be a bit more bohemian than we found it and was looking forward to buying a hemp seed necklace like the one ... read more
