Anders als erwartet lief die Busfahrt nach Pai von Chiang Mai. Statt mit einem gewöhnlichen Linienbus zu fahren, bekamen wir einen kleinen Van, der von oben bis unten mit Gepäck und Menschen besetzt war. Die Fahrt ging drei Stunden durch Straßen, die nichts im Vergleich zum Höllental waren. Angekommen- erst mal wieder was essen. Wir schickten einem Freund aus Deutschland den Standort, wo wir gerade waren und er kam wenige Minuten später vorbei. Zu unserer Freude hatte er uns schon ein Platz in einem Bungalow reserviert. Das Bungalow war mehr eine Strohhütte auf Stelzen, aber immerhin hatten wir ein eigenes Badezimmer. Die Bungalows sind die populärste Unterkunft in Pai, überall findet man solche Hütten. Als wir unsere Namen in das Gästebuch eingetragen haben, fanden wir auch prompt ein paar Namen von Bekannten aus Chiang Mai. Abends ... read more

So tonight marks the last night of my time in Pai. Its been the most idyllic, peaceful, and relaxing place of my journey so far. Its the only place that I don't want to leave however I have done my stint here and seen everything there is to see so time to move on. I am going to miss this place a lot! Anyway, i'll back date a few days... Sunday 26th at 9am I checked out of "Wait For It Guest House" in Chiang Mai. A mini bus came to collect me at 9.30am and we set off on the road to Pai. December 28th 2013 - January 9th 2014 We spent a good chunk of time in Pai, what was intended to be 4 or 5 days turned quickly into 2 weeks. . I anticipated wanting to stay for a long time, small mountain town, reggae music, hippie backpackers, cheap hostels but it was not the best energy for me for some reason, emotionally and physically I was running on empty. Not getting much sleep the night before probably contributed to the nausea during the car ride up. The road to Pai from Chaing Mai is 175km with 765 twist and turns. Its a narrow road, people drive fast and pass on blind corners, the journey to pai is part of the grand-jour of the town. I took a 3 day trip to a quaint little city north of Chiang Mai called Pai. Pai is a small gem tucked amongst mountainous region of the Thailand-Myanmar boarder. This small town has become a tourist hot spot over the years. It caters more to the Rasta and Hippie crowd, but there is something to do for everyone. Trekking, meditation, bathing in the hot spring and more. Its amazing to see the Jamaican culture has made its way across the ocean and influenced the natives. It feels as though I was in Santa Monica or Ocean Beach, CA. Very laid back, but also very touristy. I was overwhelmed after a three nights stay. I'm happy to be back in Chiang Mai.
