Well well Pattaya, what can I say about that place, when lisa said it's an interesting place to visit she wasn't wrong, the place is very full on in the respect that every second place is a drinking bar where there are hundreds, and i mean hundreds of young thai girls standing out the front trying to get you inside there place to drink there beer and solicate you for anything you might require. It's a very intimidating place to be by yourself, dont get me wrong i liked the 1 million complimets i got being a westerner, which seems to be what they are after here. Anway when the sun was to set I was to set myself into my room to watch a few movies on pay t.v, didn't have the patients with it ... read more

The beach was amazing. I've never been to a beach like that before, the Oregon coast doesn't quite compare. The water was a perfect shade of turquoise and the sand was so fine and soft. I really didn't do much at all, it was too hot and laying out in the sun was just too great. I did however get a bad sunburn that was worst on my face, that's the downside of being so pale. I met a Swedish girl named Sandra and we had dinner at this place right on the beach. We sat on wedge pillows, which I guess is very tradition Thai. The restaurant had a fire show when it got dark out. This meant that 4 guys swung these huge sticks of fire at an amazing speed. I was impressed. Then ... read more

It's really dumb of me but I don't know how to set my watch. Because of this, I ended up being an hour early for my bus to the port. As I was waiting I was attacked by my first cockroach. It was just as disgusting as I imagined it would me. I won the battle, he's dead. The bus ride was uneventful, just more of crazy driving. The boat ride to Ko Samet was the best part of my trip so far, and it was only abour 20 minutes. It was beautiful, the water and the sun. When I got to the island I had no idea what to do. All these people were getting into this taxi and I thought I'll walk, I don't want to pay for a taxi. What a mistake. It ... read more

Happy Christmas and New Year to everyone who is reading this hope all is good and santa brought you a bit more than coal!! We spent our christmas on the small island of Koh Samet which was beautiful and we splashed out for three days, moving from paying £8 per night to a (heart attack amount for me) £40 p/night!! So christmas was spent on glorious white sands and clear waters. We arrived christmas eve with our small paper christmas tree stolen from pizza hut in pattaya and were extremely happy to get back to island life. The extra we spent on accomodation was well worth it as we had a ocean front bungalow with views over three white sandy beaches. The most vigourous exercise of the three days involved hiring a kayak for an hour ... read more

The majority of the time we have spent here has been on the beach working on my tan, which by the way is coming on nicely. The sand here is white and the sea is lovely, green and some days warm too. On Tuesday we hired some scooters and managed to check out the whole of the island, which is only about 6km. Chilling out on several beaches in between trying to negotiate the awful roads here, which are mainly dirt tracks and are very bumpy. I thought it was great fun but Erica wasn't too impressed, especially as she had a little fall (she was unhurt just shook up). The highlight of the day however was visiting the south of the island to sea my first sunset, it was amazing. On Thursday we went out ... read more

We got the bus to Ban Phe on Friday & met some people on the boat over to Ko Samet; Ashley & Justin from Bristol, Robert from The Netherlands & Marissa & Nick from Arizona, USA. We all decided to stay at the same place called Naga Bungalows in Ao Hin Khok. We literally dropped our bags & headed straight to the beach to catch the last few hours of sun & have a swim in the sea. We went out & as you can expect, (being a Friday night), we all got drunk. Marissa & Nick only stayed the one night so left on the Saturday, the other five of us have spent the past week & a half together. The next couple of days, (Saturday to Monday) were spent mainly on the beaches & ... read more

Leaving Ko Phan Ghan was difficult as I was having a ball but I thought I'd go back to Bangkok and change my flights to head off to NZ. I had to wait for 5 days so I headed off to Ko Samet, an island not too far from Bangkok, with Will the Essex lad. I wasn't expecting much but it was far more beautiful than expecting. It was a lot more expensive and a lot more of a package holiday destination but the white sandy beaches were clean and the place had a good vibe. I did fel like I was inm Spain though and I took the opportunity to do some Wake boarding and jet skiing. I've been lacking adrnaline rushes over the past few weeks. Had a couple of hectic days back in ... read more

So I arrived into Bangkok at 0100 with no idea where I was staying - no text had arrived from Lucy with her address so I was slighly nervous. What would we do without mobile phones?!? A quick call to a very sleepy Lucy solved that. I couldnt believe how hot it was and it was the middle of the night!! Lucy was awake by the time I arrived and bless her, wanted to chat even though she had to be up for work in 3 hours! It was so good to see her. Her flat is amazing and thank goodness had air con. Ventured out alone in the morning...funny thing is I could not remember a thing of arriving during the night so had to find my way out. Found the pool easily and then ... read more

A few days after our return from Koh Chang, Chelly came home from work with a gift for me. She'd saved up some vacation days and was planning to use three of them to take me to the nearby island of Ko Samet. Without a Hitch Getting to the island was smooth and effortless, which was a good sign. We took our time the night before we went, kicking around the mall in Sriracha and staying up late with a DVD. Then we took even more time in the morning. We slept in, dragged our feet through breakfast and showers and packing, but finally got rolling late in the morning. We took even more time when we stopped in Pattaya to look for a new bathing suit for Chelly. (I'd bought her one on Koh Chang, ... read more
