Our trip to Koh Samet involved a four hour bus ride from Bangkok to Ban Pae and then a 30 minute boat ride over to the island of Koh Samet. We arrived at Ban Pae on sunset and the view on the boat ride over to the island was beautiful. It was dark by the time we arrived so we got in a taxi (back of a ute) and commenced on a very bumpy drive around to Jep's Bungalows. The island is well known amongst locals and on the weekends hundreds of Thais make there way to the island for some R&R. It is a reatively small island which is predominately made up of national park. We managed to secure the last bunglaows available at Jeps, got ourselves settled and then made our way across to ... read more

Ko Samet has definitely been our much needed get-away-from-the-cities-and-chill-out place. For anyone who doesn't know (and I apologise to those that do as i'm probably making you wish you were back there now) the beaches are the classic white sands and turquoise seas that you associate with the cover of a holiday brochure for a place you're pretty sure doesn't exist or you're never going to get to go to! In the 4 or so days we've had here we've done much lying on the beach and drinking fruit shakes and took in a scenic tour around the island on a boat trip including some snorkelling, line fishing (and subsequent bbq) and fish farm visiting action. All bar me flinging the home-made fishing line off into the deep-blue this was brilliant! Off to Ko Tao next!... James ... read more

Got to Ko Samet from Bangkok to check it out, it was either that or stay in Bangkok for a few more days, Dave, Dave and Dave's brother will be meeting me tommorrow. I'll also be hooking up with Laura, who I met in Malaysia to see her off from Bangkok. Ko Samet is the usual fare, beach huts, bars and buckets. Nothing much else really. Met a couple, Sean from London and Emma, his girlfriend from Glasgow. Bored them to death with loads of tips (Tiger Balm is great for insect bites, Sarong is the most useful thing you'll ever own on your travels) I think I've finally become one of those boring travellers I occasionally meet with way too much to talk about. Still with Lianne and I also met another canadian called Tom ... read more

Hi all Well had a good week in Ko Samet mainly sunbathing and spending loads of time in the sea as very hot. We arrived on the Monday and we were there until Saturday which was about long enough as although a very beautiful island there was not a lot to do which was a bit disappointing. During the days we mainly stayed on the beach as there was a lovely breeze and the sea was very clear and warm so heaven! On Tuesday they had organised a boat trip for us around Ko Samet which was great and we stopped at 2 places to snorkel. The boat had a top deck with deckchairs attached which was quite a good idea although did not feel that safe when the boat moved from side to side. In ... read more

So what did we do on this beautiful island? Not much is the answer. Our days consisted of lying on the soft white sand everyday, sometimes having lunch. Going back to our room to get ready for the evening and then going out for dinner, playing cards and watching the movies in the restaurants. We topped up our tans for our arrival back to sunny England. The island was quite stunning, white sand, warm water and we were lucky enough to have some truly great weather. On the island there was a mixture of backpackers, local and international holiday makers and quite a lot of pretty Thai women with big fat western men!!!! Its so crazy to see. Oh and there was also quite a large number of chick boys, probably more chick than boy as ... read more

Having finally found a place to access the internet. Just a very quick blog to let everyone know that we have arrived and have now transfered onto the Island of Koh Samet. Staying on the luxurious resort of Ao Prao on the west coast, we have been treated to the beautiful sun and sand in our little bay. Just went on a 6 hour boat trip today visting the nearby islands, snorkeling, swimming in the sea and seeing some turtles!! Tonight we head to the East coast for some beach partying and hopefully see the sunrise. Will try and blog again once we return to Bangkok. Lots of Love Amy :) xXx ... read more
