Hi everyone! I’m now back on the ship after being in Hong Kong for five days. I had a great time in the city with my three friends who I always travel with Jacy, Annee and John. I found out I had strep throat the day before we got to Hong Kong and I ended up getting an allergic reaction to the antibiotics the nurse gave me. I had to switch antibiotics before I got off the ship. I’m all better now but it was not fun when I had it. In Hong Kong we found a very tiny room to stay in, one of us had to sleep on the floor but it was cheap! First John slept on the floor for the first two nights, then he got a little feisty and we decided ... read more

Hello to my blog family! I’ve been meaning to update the blog with all of my recent goings-on, but life has become rather busy. So, without further ado, allow me to give you a glimpse of what I’ve been up to! Read on, for it’s all quite exciting! Well, I’ve prayed that God would facilitate me making more friends here, and She/He has answered my prayers abundantly! Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were all glorious days in their own ways. In order to adequately explain Friday night, I’ve got to introduce you to another of my friends. Hazel is a Cantonese woman who kindly volunteers to help me with various things. She reads for me, sends mail, orders my groceries, and pretty’s up my PowerPoint slides. We share some commonalities. She is a Christian woman. Hazel’s son ... read more

Country number four and my longest flight over and done with. Land of esculators it was, including the worlds longest at 800m long which I had to ride all the way to the top just for the sake of it. As for the malls I think you could honestly spend your whole time in H.K under the cover of malls and covered walkways to malls and after 4 days of looking for a bikni with eventual sucess I am well and truly sick of malls, markets and shopping! Yes me! I know. The markets are hardcore shopping experince and the locals dont have much of a personal space boundry so I was slightly brusied and battered. Was all and all quite impressed by my lack of spending but decided to go to Lan Kwai Fong ,fancy ... read more

Except if you are planning to stay on what turned out to be a very tight budget for Hong Kong, US$30 a day. The guest house I stayed at in Kowloon was ok, other than a horrendous first night. But overall I really enjoyed Hong Kong, expensive as it was. I was there over a good weekend...the weekend of the Hong Kong Sevens Rugby tournament, which England won. I wasn't able to get tickets, which would have broken my bank account anyway, but I did spend that Saturday afternoon of my visit outside the stadium with more than 100 others, watching the games on a big screen. Each game was only 14 minutes long, but there were more than a dozen countries represented, including a dismal US side. It was a lot of fun to just ... read more

We are staying at the Peninsula Hotel, a splurge for ML. Normally he stays at a local hotel which is similar to a Best Western. I LOVE all the attention to detail here, love the fine linens and silver flatware and the gorgeous silver tea pots. Of course I could do this at home but I am way too lazy.... read more

Hello all! Well Im pleased to say that we survived the Hong Kong experience! It was certainly a culture shock...dirty with a capital D, an overwhelming guff of the worst kind from start to finish. We arrived with great enthusiasm to be faced witht he most dire looking hostel we have ever seen, think leo in Bankok in the beach...but worse! Am very impressed we managed not to check into a 4star hotel. next day upgraded so bit better, thankfully. With the exception of this we still had a great time, we took a night cruise through Victoria Harbour which was amazing and took a near vertical tram ride to the peak, with breathtaking views...well they would have been if not for the smog! We eagerly anticipated great food only to be met with frog everywhere, ... read more
