Firstly I want to thank chuck palahnuick, for making the last two days seem alot less.. lonely? I was thinking last night when 5 couldnt sleep, I was trying to imagine, each and every one of my friends on their own with a laptop and money to eat. I honestly couldnt picture it. Therefore, my conclusion is, Im either a) weird, b) normal or c) adventurous lacking the needs of life such as love, drinks and cigs. Oh well. Fook it! Central Park was fab, I read for like 2 hours straight then got a headache. The museum was good but not for $10.50! and THAT was with a student card! I stayed in the museum for an hour and got some photos of painfully real stuffed animals, the universe section was the best. anyway, ... read more

I heart NY. I officially do, but before I continue typing this record of my fantastic day, I must go and clip my nails as they are really really REALLY doing my head in. all done :, anyway where was I.. So, I woke up around 7.30 ish, cause I really cant sleep through loud noises, and the room mates were leaving so y'know. But I fell back to sleep and then actually woke up around 10.30. I jumped in the lovely shower, only to... 6 hours later become a big bunch of sweat. I walked down to 23rd Street subway station and got on the E train, downtown to Brooklyn, but I got off at World Trade Center (sorry for the american spelling of it but Im in the country and thats how its ... read more

Update for todayy. I walked alll the way back to broadway/times square again, to go to Bryant park to go check out the 2007 pride rally. see also: the gay parade. My feet started to die, and then I developed trench foot, and then I got rushed to A+E and had both feet amputated, now Im sat here with 2 stumps. Im kidding. I sat down on the grass, and the sun slowly forced my body to sweat, sweat, burn, and get drowsy as hell. I decided to go, so at about..2.30/3 ish, i went to some grotty deli, I mean GROTTY. I got a grilled cheese sandwich, which again, was quite grotty, but I got the hugest 32oz mango snapple EVER (fit fit fit) then I mooched around, and went to barnes and noble ... read more

Eurotrip 2ColleenLast year, my trip to Europe resulted in hastily scribbled notes on sheets of paper that have long since been torn up or lost in the general chaos of traveling. Fortunately, I was able to document the highlights of my journey with a camera. However, having a bit of experience with Europe now, I am more prepared for this adventure in bringing along a journal and realizing that internet cafes are plentiful and reasonably priced anywhere you go. Last year, my trip was more confined, as I only explored Ireland and France. However, I had the chance to immerse myself in Irish culture at every coast and I saw the extreme difference between Parisian France and the south of France, which is really more like a French-speaking Italy, filled with Mediterranean and Roman influences. This ... read more

Untitled Lindsey and I started out our USA road trip at 9 am from Tabor. The drive to New York was beautiful, it's amazing how much you forget about mountains until you see them again. It never ceases to amaze me about how beautiful they really can be. We got to her house in Cobleskill, NY and headed right out to Cooperstown to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. We got to see Todd Helton, Phil Neikro and Tony Gwynn's memorabilia at the museum, which was great for obvious reasons. We ate at a little restaurant called the Doubleday Cafe and got our first meal of the trip! We walked around the town a little bit, making our way to the Doubleday Field where many of the first baseball games were played. Around 7 ... read more

since i wrote my last entry, the last few days were more about people than about traveling. we don't really leave camp, and until all the campers arrive we have a pretty busy scheduale of activities for the staff and we're getting to know each other (well a lot of the americans already know each other from previous years, but we obviously don't). so i haven't really started my job, but i have much less free time than i'll have when i'll be "working". most of the americans are nice and try to get to know you, but like i wrote a lot of them already have their friends here and there are times i really do feel the cultural difference (much more than in my birthright trip, for example). an interesting thing is that i ... read more

I went to the cinema to watch 'waitress' which may I add was dead good! I couldnt stop smiling, it was such a happy film! On the way in a really fancy black car pulled up and a woman got out with loads of people with her, on first look I thought it was Tyra Banks, so I was like OMG ITS TYRA BANKS! but no, it was Vanessa Williams, who looks like her and is an actress, she was there premiering for her new movie and there came love' or something. New York Day 2. I love it! The jet lag ruined me last night and I slept from....10 till 7 ish, this isnt including the hour I was awake when my lovely considerate, and highly intoxicated room mates decided to stumble in and yell cockroacccch. But anyway, At about 8ish the sound of Drilling, Honking of Horns, Thick new york accents and the creaking of the bed forced me to get up and go out. I had to brush my teeth dead quietly which was stupid but hey. I decided not to take the subway, and I walked alll the way from here along broadway, to the manhattan mall, and then onto times sqaure, and madison avenue etc etc. I went in Macys and it was fun fun fun but I didnt have loads of ... read more

Catch-up photos from our East Africa Safari North America » United States » New York By WillzJune 15th 2007Kenya SafariHilary and JaneThis is a catch-up entry. We are at Jane's brother's house in Ossining, New York, having spent time in London, and in Kennebunkport, Maine, with Jane's father. We leave for Lima, Peru, next Wednesday. This entry is simply to add a few more images from our safari in Kenya and Tanzania -- mainly because I'm missing the raw beauty of the Masai, the Masai Mara, and the Serengeti. How do I distill over 2,000 photos into just a few that might b... read more
