let me start off by saying i've arrived to camp and i'm ok. we don't really have a computer room yet so i'm writing from somebody's laptop. the flight (ben guryon-newark) was ok. the plane was good but however you look at it, spending 11 hours in a plane is long and boring. after that we had to use a team of airport workers with radios to find our ride. there are actually quite a lot of people that this is their job (and without them we would've never found him), and they're all black (:. the way to kutz camp basically divided to 2 parts - the first part was the big city area where we drove in huge highways with 4-5 bridges at each interchange. the second part was the american country side - ... read more

My headline really wasnt funny but WOO! I got free wi fi! after sitting here for like 20 minutes stressing due to lack of free wifi. So. I had the best flight ever, it only got delayed by 55mins, and I got a full row to myself! I lay down with blankets and pillows and had the best sleep ever. The food was actually really really nice. I landed at JFK, didnt get interrogated *phew*. Got my bag and got on shittyshuttle within like.. 20 mins or so of being there. It took 2 hours to get here because New York traffic is just like it is in the films. I knew I was here when the sounds of horns and screeching cars started to pour into my ears from all directions. Leavin' On a Jet Plane North America » United States » New York » New York By mvelelisJune 11th 2007Marcus Velelis First, let me start by saying that if you're going to comment on a blog, feel free, but please leave your name somewhere on it so I know who the message came from. Ok, so now on to the real things. It's down to the home stretch here and, to be honest, I'm getting nervous. Nervous and sad. I really will miss everyone. To those of you who came out the other night, thanks a lot, it was a blast. Things like that are what I will miss. I'll post all ... read more

This time we rode the subway like veteran New Yorkers; stone-faced and all. We had a good time in Atlanta and now, back in NY, we had 1 day to burn before leaving for Aruba. With not a lot of 'touristy' things left to do or see in Manhattan, we decided to go visit Vibert's aunt in New Jersey. Penn Station was bristling with activity being a major transit point. Amtrak, the PATH Train, subways and the New jersey Transit trains all converged there. We took the 10:35 NJT first to Newark/Broadstreet and then connected to the South Orange stop. The trains were classier with leather seats, much cleaner and came with a nattily-attired conductor. We rode underground for a bit and then surfaced to a more spacious, greener state. Aunty Robin, Vibert's father's sister, picked ... read more

Location: Unionport, NY (approximately exit 8 on I-95) Blogger: Katie So here we are in traffic at 7:21pm. Doesn't rush hour end before now? Just a thought. We are also getting boxed in by trucks. We're viewing many “almost accidents” so that's fun. In order to get that picture of the traffic I stuck the camera outside of the window. DJ made me wait until we passed the car that had pulled off the road because otherwise it would have looked like I was taking a picture of them. We passed this giant cemetery earlier, can't remember what town it was outside of. Failing I know. And the headstones were so close together I could barely believe it. So I took a picture. DJ said “There are a lot of dead people in New York.” ... read more

Location: New York, NY: GW Bridge Blogger: DJ Huzzah for the George Washington Bridge. We got across the bridge pretty quickly and now it's clear sailing. Too way to f*ing long to post that last entry, PS. My attention to detail is proving to be my downfall. According to DJ cars are disappearing. PS anytime we do something right or make our lives easier, one of us shouts out "Win!" Time entered into NJ: 7:50pm Time of post: 7:53pm PS My neuroses about taking down the time we change states, or documenting things by photo is getting a little out of hand. DJ says things to me about getting pictures of things. PS there was a big EZpass debacle, as he told me to hold up the EZpass which he really should just have attached ... read more

Well hello again my lovely family and friends! How's it going? Things are great with me. Just writing to give you the latest on my New York jaunts! I've got to say what a fantastic city this is.... it's so cool. I never thought I was going to arrive here at all at one point. I boarded the Delta Airlines flight like a 'gudden' and was sitting in my seat getting ready for take off when the pilot came onto the airwaves and said that our take off would be delayed because of a few 'concerns' and he would talk to us again shortly! Well for those of you who know me, you'll also know that I'm not a great fan of flying at the best of times! So... after this announcement I'm sitting there and ... read more

So the real reason I'm writing this entry is because I need to have a blog written within the first 48 hrs of signing up so my new account doesn't get deleted. I'm getting ready to go, which is a real pain in the ass. I keep feeling like I'm forgetting something else, and in the end I probably will, but I'm doing my best to make sure that I don't. It still hasn't really set in that I'm going away for 3 months, but every once in a while it hits me for a second and I get really sad. I'm leaving behind all of you; my family, my friends, the Mets, and it's upsetting. Still, I've been looking forward to this for a veeery long time, and I suppose I'm excited, but once again, ... read more

Morning All! Sorry we've not got round to writing anything up here yet but we've been busy DOING STUFF! Our New York hostess and tour guide, the lovely Vicky, helped us to achieve so much in a few days. Fortunately we gained 5 hours on the way over, so we could cram even more in! Upon arrival we were whisked on the subway (which looks exactly like the films!) to Vicky's apartment on the 25th floor of a block in Downtown Manhatten overlooking Ground Zero. What an incredible place to live! Then it was straight into travel-mode with a steak dinner washed down with champagne in the 5-star Ritz Carlton hotel, followed by cocktails on the roof terrace watching the sunset over the Hudson River and the Statue of Liberty. Fortunately Vicky works at the ... read more
