Thanks to dark curtains we slept in until 10:40AM. Walked to Central Park (we are situated two blocks south of the park) and went on horse and buggy ride around the lower south east corner. Being Sunday locals were out running, riding, walking and sun baking. Walked down through Broadway finally arriving at Times Square. Had great fun checking out numerous shops and finally located cheaper last minute seats to see The Lion King (this coming Thursday PM).Decided to check out the set up for the water taxis and walked down through Hells Kitchen which would be a bit spooky at nite, arriving at Pier 84 where we purchased two day combo/statue of liberty tickets. Returned to Broadway and spent a few hours at "Dave and Busters" which is an upmarket video arcade with bars. ... read more

Cinnamon takes Manhattan North America » United States » New York » New York » Manhattan By Cin and Galib June 23rd 2007 Cinnamon and Galib The Big Apple I met my friend Sabrina in New York for a weekend get away. This was my third visit, so I am getting to know the city very well, although there is always something new to discover. In only a few days, Sabrina & I covered shopping at Filene's Basement, DSW, Tiffany's, explored Greenwich Village & Chelsea market, ate lunch at Morimoto's, had a picnic in Central Park, trekked through Lincoln Centre, watched the Pride Parade (which was apparently toned down this year) and with my friends Peter & Leslie, I ended the trip with attending a comic book convention featuring "David Faustino/Bud Bundy" and "Eddie Munster", and ... read more

yesterday (or today, depends how you look at it...) the first round of camp participants arrived, and thus ended the week of activities for the staff that we had until wendsday. now most of us (including me) started doing our job. but before that i still have to write about what went on staff week since last time i wrote. well after shabat, that was very laid back, most of the week was consisted of prayers, moving furniture around camp and mostly of very boring lectures and youth-movement-style programs about camp rules, activities etc, most of which had nothing to do with us security guards (but we still had to be in them). some nice activities that are worth mentioning are: i climbed an alpine tower, which is basically like a climbing wall but easier and ... read more

Well everyone told me that New York would be amazing, but nothing prepared me for how amazing it really is. It is such a cool city, and there is so much to look at and so many things to see and do in such a short amount of time. The location of my hotel was absolutely perfect - right in the middle of Times Square on 46th Street, where all the action and craziness begins and never ever seems to end. My hotel is about 100 metres from the middle of Times Square and despite the fact that I thought the hotel would be really bad, considering the prices you pay in New York and the reviews I had seen, it was actually really great. Staff were also really helpful which was good, and because ... read more

Well, after a long 29 hours of flying we were greeted by the city that never sleeps by a 2 hour traffic jam. A trip that should have only taken 20 minutes from JFK to Queens. Jeva & Jamaal's cousin Jason, was volunteered to put us up for our stay in New York. Our first couple of days were spent doing the touristy thing. Statue of Liberty, double decker bus, Empire State Building, Central Park & we went down & saw the Workd Trade Centre. We also visited a few of the city's best shopping spots and I am happy to report that we were very well behaved. We did as the locals do and went to a baseball game at Flushing. Enjoyed a Budweiser and salted nuts while watching one of the local teams the ... read more

Jeva & Jamaal's cousin Jason, was volunteered to put us up for our stay in New York. Wasn't long before we met some of the locals down @ the nearby 'beer garden'. A few minutes into the conversation & I was asked what Aussies thought if Americans. I answered and said that most of the Americans I come across @ work are whingers. What? I'm not going to lie! The reaction I got wasn't all that positive. This guy then proceeded to tell me that he had been at a party with Paris Hilton once. Who cares! Our first couple ... read more

I felt like such a dork today. So dorkish, I used the word 'dork'. For the first time in my life I felt responsible? If thats the right word. I went and did my own laundry, and I thought for like, one second. WOW! I can actually do stuff on my own. It was hard, and I had to ask the lady about 6 times how to work the damn thing, but hey. Im pretty much packed now, I literally shopped till I dropped today. Really. My legs are dying, and I feel really bloated, so I look crap in my new tshirts. NICHT GUTTTTTTT. Anyway, Las Vegas at 11pm tomorrow night then onwards to oregano. Exciting : I wont be doing much there, only sleeping, reading, walking and swimming after next wednesday. I'll upate there, ... read more

Here is the first entry of our little US tour...in 10 days, we will be in New York, San Francisco, San Diego and Las Vegas...I know, another crazy trip. The fun part about it, is that Leslie has gone to all these places by the time he was only 18 months old. Leslie took quite well the 13 hours flight from Shanghai to Chicago. It was a full flight but I'm really impressed how he faced the stuggle, specially when the 13 hours turned into 14 hours as we were on hold due to rain...followed by a one hour queue at customs...and yes I fought we would never make our connection. So once we reach the domestic terminal, I found out that our connecting flight to Newark had been cancelled. And this is were you ... read more

Majestic Manhattan - Sky scrapers North America » United States » New York » New York » Manhattan By ken the teamanJune 19th 2007ken What a marvelous testament to human achievements. Manhattan stands sooooooooo tall and proud. It has to be seen to believe it. So many tall sky scrapers in such a short space. At one point in early 1900s - Manhattan had 52 tallest buildings in the world. Now the twin towers might have fallen to wanton fanatics, But Man... read more
