Wiltshire is a beautiful county indeed. Vast expanses of rolling hills covered with lush green vegetations and dotted by beechtrees on top of the hills is a lovely sight to behold. The county is full of country parks for wonderful walks. One such area is Marlborough downs. I took all these images on a day when it snowed a bit. The snow adds great contrast to the backdrops of beautiful landscapes speckled with grazing lazy-horses. Wilthshire has its own peculiar landmarks - the White-horse trails. These are painted white horses on top of the hill in nine different places. Marlborough downs is one of them. The rest are as below which I copied from one of the White-horse trail websites - The ALTON BARNES HORSE The BROAD TOWN HORSE The CHERHILL HORSE The DEVIZES HORSE i ... read more

I didn't think very much about Masai when I started the journey to Ngorongoro. All I had in my mind was this extraordinary place called Ngorngoro which is a dead valcano of the ancient days. Inside that volcanic crater of about 20Km diameter - I was exited about to find these delightful collection of wild animals. True to its auro of open air zoo without walls - it turned to be just that. So many animals, you name it then you will find it in there - Zebras, Wildebeast, fox, rhinos, elephants, Zeraffes,Hienas,Hipos and not to mention the great lions of Ngrongoro. An amazing collection of beauftiful animals in such a small place - wonderful indeed. Constant and clear danger But what surprised me even more was the fearless people of the Masai tribe who live there. ... read more

I always wondered why the road crossing for people where called as 'Zebra crossings'. Then someone told me that it is because the black and white strips on the road looks like Zebra's stripes. May be thats the correct explanation but it is a far cry from the real Zebra stripes indeed. Real Zebra stripes are never straight but slightly curved and sinuous in patern. That patern creates a mesmorising and rather confussing effect when you stare at them. That very effect serves to save the Zebras when Lions try to chase them. They tend to get confffused by this sinuous and wavy patterns on the Zebras that they simply give up the chase most of the time. Well anyway, When I was in Serengeti I thought why not capture all the animals crossing the roads. ... read more

A Trip that I didn't plan ! It was few months ago when one of my friend Parvin at work opened the topic of climbing Kilimenjaro in Tanzania. I am one of those suckers who will try anything for once and so I said I will go for the climb. Then a few days latter I was visiting David. He said ken we need to book tonight for Kilimenjaro because thats the last flight off season and from next day onwards it becomes on-season flight and so the prices go up. Thats that - we booked the flight then and there - Kilemenjaro, we are comming ! Fitness is a relative thing ! Well, I did not know that David use to run marathons in his younger days - mind you, he is a very fit ... read more

Unexpected feast I did not think much about this show before I went to see it. One of my friend was having his dog-show display in the main arena and invited me to attend. And so I went and it turned out to be one of a pleasant surprise, indeed. The show pretty much had all the wonderful ingredients to entertain a family for fun. It was geared mostly to engage and enthrall children with the inevitable enjoyment of parents as well. QuackPack Show Thats the name of my friends show, rather a quirky name however aptly named thou, for a show which uses quacking ducks and frantic sheepdogs ! Meirion is from Carmathion in Wales from a proud sheepdog training family. He went on to become the youngest sheepdog champion in 'One-man and his dog' competition. ... read more

SERENGETI HOTAIR BALOONING Hot air ballooning is a very pleasant experience where ever that might be. In Serengeti you get an added thrill of seeing thousands of animal herds on the spralling and never ending plains of Serengeti. However, we were profoundly unlucky on the day as the wind took us over a piece of land where there was no animals at all on that day ! Even then it was a pleasant flight on a calm and bright sunny morning. It was rather an early start for my liking - 4am in the morning. They collected us by a bus and took us to the launching site which was one hour away. In the headlight We got some glimpses of fleeting animals in the dark including a Jackal and some other exotic creatures. Preparing for ... read more

Webshots Desktop One day - "House in the Clouds" image just appeared in my desktop last year. It was fed by webshots desktop daily feed to my laptop. There it was up in the sky - shrouded by the clumps clouds and mystifying mist. It was a beautiful image. I thought at that time - its a lovely picture. The house sits at the top of a long pillar. The pillar is 6 stories high rectangular sky scraper with multiple windows. A real house sits on top with high gabled roof complete with fire chimney jetting up from one side of the roof. The pillar is jet black color dotted with multiple white framed windows which are aesthetically pleasing to look at. The house itself is painted in brick red and sports couple of rectangular white ... read more

Land between lakes - Interlakin As the obvious name implies, Interlakin - is a town in the glen between two big emerald green lakes and imposing snow clad mountains. Its ideal location at the foot hills of the Swiss alps makes it the perfect base camp town for forays into the likes of Europes higest mountains Jungfru, Shilthorn etc. Perhaps Latterbrunnen would be the perfect place however it doesnt have the charm of Interlakin. Charming town When I talk about charm of Interlakin - the place is really charming indeed, so much so that a couple in their 70s from Boston USA have been going to Interlakin for the last 24 years !!!, without fail except for one odd year when one of them got sick and couldn't travel. Well this place is for sure, charmed ... read more

Almost didn't take the trip ! What a lovely train trip crossing over the Swiss Alps into Italy. Bernina express trip ranks very high in the list of beautiful and wonderful railway journeys. But I almost didn't take the trip due to tiredness. I had a long train journey the previous day from Interlakin to Davos dorf - about 8 hours journey. I was kind of had enough for the day and didn't fancy taking another 8 hours trip. However, next day I thought I might as well. But I didn't know how beautiful this trip going to be. The train runs between Davos Dorf to Triano in Italy. It takes 4 hours one way and 4 hours to return. My whole trip was booked by travel agent. So all I had to do was to ... read more

I had a wonderful time last Saturday in Guildford summer festival - called 'Guilfest'. I have been in Guildford for few months for training. The usual suspects from our social club decided to attend the festival. As I am new to social club I didn't know what to expect on the day. So I turned up to the club on Saturday morning rather innocently only to be jolted by the vision of grown up men, all dolled up in make-up with glistening lip-gloss and lady's frocks ! - A sight for sore eyes indeed. There they were - Chris, Collin, James, Johny, Mike, Martin, all in their colorful vaudeville dresses, sipping beer nonchalantly as if it was a day just as usual. The group had decided to attend the festival dressed up as women. All those ... read more
