Arrived back in Sydney on 23rd December just in time for the xmas celebrations! The overnight bus from Byron Bay wasnt much fun so we were glad to be putting our bags down for a while! We are staying at a lodge on Bondi Beach for 2 weeks which is pretty cool but not what we expected!! We booked our "apartment" online and were under the impression that we had our own kitchen, bathroom, eating area etc. However the apartment turns out to be the smallest double room ever, with a microwave shoved on top of a cupboard. There isnt any room to dance never mind hve a party - huh!! The lodge has a kitchen area which can only hold 3 people at a time so we are really disappointed as we were hoping to ... read more

Hi everyone not much to report on here. As you can see all the pictures here are from the Australia Zoo which is about 2 hours from Brisbane. We only had 2 nights in Brisbane so didnt get to see as much as we would have liked but we still enjoyed it. Our main trip was the Zoo where we spent the whole day. Had a great time there, you can walk about among the kangaroos which was cool. We got to feed the elephants and hold the koalas so a very interactive experience. Had our photos taken with a huge python which terrified the life out of me but I was glad I got over my fear and just did it, although I made sure I was only holding the tail of it and not ... read more

Spent the night at Hervey Bay last night to prepare for our trip to Fraser Island. Had our meeting inn the morning where we met the people who we will be travelling with for the next 3 days. Everyone seems really friendly. There is Rob, Sarah and Richard ( English), Nacky ( Japanese), Agnes, Sina and Simon ( German) and Lars & Anna who are from Sweden and Denmark. A good mixture of folk there! Our first task was to prepare a shopping list and then go buy everything at the supermarket. Not an easy thing to do when there are 11 of you who are total strangers. However we managed to get quite a lot done between us and of course stocked up on plenty of alcohol which is apparently part of your staple diet ... read more

Hey im very excited, Raymond has finally landed on Australian soil at long last :-) He had a good flight and didnt seem too jet lagged which I was quite suprised about as I was knacked when I travelled back and forth from New Zealand. Was a nice first couple of days for him, strolling about the city seeing all the major sights. Went for a look at the Opera House and Harbour Bridge and a night we went to Darling harbour. Drinking cocktails all night to celebrate the start of our trip together and ended up a bit drunk! So not much time for Raymond to see Sydney at the moment as we caught a flight up to Cairns on his 2nd day. Had a smooth flight with Jetstar and got picked upon arrival by ... read more

Hi thats me back in Sydney after my fruit picking stint, hope im not doing that again for a long while :-) I went straight to Irenes house ( the girl I met in New Zealand) and the home comforts feel like absolute luxury. Irene has rented a place in Neutral Bay with her friend Aoife, another Irish girl. I'm staying here for a few days until Samantha comes. Neutral Bay is just to the north of Sydney, just over the Harbour Bridge. The house has fabulous views over the Sydney skyline and you can see the bridge from a platform at the bottom of her steps. The have rented the house for about 6 months, the landlord is converting the houses ( there is 4 in her block) into 2 luxurious pads so he's just ... read more

Yey Im finally here and its so hot im excited already and cant wait to get working on this tan! My flight was great, about 3-4 hours from Christchurch. It was a beautiful sunny day so had fantastic views over the harbour bridge and Opera House as I was flying in. No matter how many times you have seen this great city in pictures it still takes your breath away when you get that first glimpse. My first day was spent trying to find my way around Sydney which is so huge I think its going to take a bit of time. The first place I headed for was the Opera House, an obvious place to start I guess. The Opera House is beautiful and not what it seems like from a distance. Its actually 3 ... read more

The drive to Blenheim was absolutely gorgeous, right along the coast, passed a seal colony which i think is the largest one in New Zealand. I only spent one night in Blenheim which i think was enough time really as it is a tiny place. I tried to book a wine tour however was too late in the day so ended up just strolling about town and enjoying the sunshine. My hostel is extremely quiet and im the only girl staying. It feels a bit lonely and there is no lock on my dorm door so for the first time in my trip I used my door wedge to make me feel better. Of course I was fine, I think im still getting used to being on my own again after the girls have gone. NELSON ... read more
