New York, NY North America » United States » New York » New York » Manhattan By Bridget BMay 22nd 2007 The latest trip for work took me to NY. We stayed at the the Hotel Pennsylvania, I don't recommend it, in Manhattan. The first day was spent getting from the airport to the hotel and then a walk to Times Square. The next day, before the meeting, we took the subway down to Wall Street and Federal Hall (where George Washington took the oath of office). We also walked out to where you catch the ferry to th... read more

Oh, to have to leave the Big Apple. Since yesterday was so tiring and the showers at the hostel so cold, we decided to sleep until just about check out time (11:00 AM) and spend the rest of our time in NYC in Central Park and shower immediately upon our arrival in Cape Cod. So we checked out of the hostel, loaded our stuff up in the car that was conveniently parked out in front of the hostel (we got lucky and found a prime spot for free the whole time we were there 25 feet from the hostel entrance), and hopped on a downtown subway for the last time. We got off at 72nd after a short ride, and tried to find a food place that looked appetizing enough to eat at--we wanted breakfast ... read more

I've said this before, but I really do dig New York. And boy did I see a lot of it today. We woke up to some better and slightly warmer weather just in time to take an incredibly cold shower at our hostel. I actually ended up using the bathroom sink for the majority of my cleansing time in an effort to streamline and minimize the amount of cold water I got on me--yes, it was that cold. I felt like a seasoned traveler though; not only was I staying in a hostel, but I was showering in a hostel sink. I love it. After Keith and I finished getting ready for the day, we walked down Lenox to the subway and went all the way downtown to Battery Park in order to see what ... read more

Well, I'm back in New York, so why shouldn't I be back in Times Square. That seems to be the central point to all my NYC trips (well, both of them). Can't complain though, it really is a cool place. I can't imagine really that I'm back in New York having really just come back from a trip here a month ago. I did say though that I'd be back soon... guess I'm a girl of my word. We didn't do much tonight but find a place to eat in Times Square and kind of check out the sites, including Radio City and a stop inside Virgin. It was still a bit rainy and cold, and since we have a few days in the city I can't say I was disappointed to head back to ... read more

A motor coach, chartered from Brown Transportation of Amsterdam, New York took members of Proctor's Theatre's Guild and their guests to a Wednesday Matinee performance of Tony Award-Winning Broadway Musical, "Jersey Boys." After an interesting "side trip" through the Latino food market section of Secaucus. New Jersey (which we would like to re-visit some other time), our bus left us off at Bryant Park in Midtown, Manhattan. Bryant Park, a green oasis with a carrousel, takes up two blocks behind the New York Public Library on 6th Ave. (Avenue of the Americas) between 40 and 42 St. We scurried up to Christie's Auction House at Rockefeller Plaza. The first in a series of auctions of Post War Contemporary Art with Warhol's, Calder's, etc. was scheduled for that evening. So we previewed some of the work; which ... read more

UntitledTommorow is the day we leave for Coppenhagen. Wow... Europe, eight weeks, its not something i can quite wrap my head around yet. How can you ever really account for every variable, every twist and turn. Im excited for a few things, no cell phone being the first that comes to mind. Being able to be productive wasting a day just wondering around a city. Spending time disregarding all the great travel tips and finding my own best kept secrets along the way. What really comes to mind are the words of Mark Twain ( I had to look it up to get it exactly right) "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away ... read more

I have visited New York several times on multiple occasions. It is the biggest city in the United States. I was in New York city on Sunday 9/9/2001 ...just 2 days before the tragic event. The twin towers were and just 2 days later, they collapsed. I did not develop the photos taken until weeks later. Ground Zero is also where I want to pay a visit almost every time I am in NYC. It is emotional to remember what was there before. A few years early, near Christmas time, I and my two sisters took a trip up the observation deck to get the birdview of the city. One of the most inexpensive way to see the city from the water is to take the ferry from South Street in Lower Manhattan to Staten Island. ... read more

The main New York attractions that we saw on our final day in New York were food-related ones (well, except for the companions who were able to do some really high end shopping). The lawyers and I once again spent the morning in meetings. We were treated to another presentation by my marketing hero, Ross Fishman, who once again gave an engaging show that made the audience laugh and think strategically about their marketing. Then, we were off to the offices of our host firm for our breakout sessions. Since I was leading mine, a marketing-focused session, I was a bit nervous both about what I would say and how many people would show up. I shouldn't have worried - we had 20 people in a room for six, and once the conversation got started, it ... read more
