Yes, I am here in New York, and no, I haven't been missing for the past two days. Unfortunately, a raging migraine has been holding me hostage for a couple of days, which has made focusing on a computer screen rather difficult! I'll do my best to recap before it's off to dreamland for some much-needed rest! I arrived on Tuesday morning at eight am with my sister in tow to help me with the mounds of work to be done. We were squirreled away in a windowless conference room all day, but fortunately, the room had a lot of character. Known as the "chairman's boardroom," it felt more like a small library with a big conference table. It was a reasonably pleasant way to spend the morning while putting together the welcome packets and gift ... read more

After a day that I can only describe as wildly stressful, during which I took the afternoon off to avoid a total breakdown, it was time to head off to Ellis Island. I am one of the most popular people during our conferences, not because I am awesomely cool, but because I have all the answers and control a lot of the trips. So of course, the phone calls from people needing me started before I had even finished getting dressed or put my makeup on. I was also running a little late due to some wardrobe malfunctions - dressing alone means you can't pin your own dress - so I was crazed again by the time I arrived downstairs to meet the group. Getting over two hundred people out of the lobby and on to ... read more

Day 9 – Tuesday – Niagara Falls, New York Well, a little over a week in to our holiday...and we had our first big day of driving. Thankfully John has it down to a fine art (bloody Americans on the wrong side of the road!) and Jen is a great navigator. We did hit a little traffic on the way out of Boston (man they have some DUMB freeways where vehicles are both entering AND exiting right near each other and literally crossing over each other) and we did get some roadworks....but all in all it was a fun enough day considering. I think we ended up hitting our hotel by about 7pm or so, and decided to check out the falls by night. Yeh, that's right, as it was just prior to 9pm when ... read more

Day 10 – Wednesday – Niagara Falls WHAT A DAY!!!!! Well we wanted to cram as much possible in to our only full day here at Niagara so had a VERY early start. John seemed fine but Dean, Jen & I were struggling with reaching consciousness! In our quest to hit all major American fast food chains, we had Denny's for breakfast (mmmmm was good!). Then we eagerly headed to the visitor centre to buy our "passports" (tickets allowing access to a number of areas) only to be informed that a lot of it wasnt operational yet (beginning of the season....who knews) and in fact we could NOT do the "Cave of the Winds" which is where you walk nearby the falls. Hrmmph. Oh well, we bought our tickets for the Maid of the Mist ... read more

so we went trapsing through Voorheesville, NY today at Thacher Park. we hiked the indian ladder trail, and took a few detours to get ourselves into a few precarious positions! we found a few trails that took us up to about halfway up one of the falls, n then we hiked back along the higher path and ended up having to free climb our way down about 30 feet or so, but we made it safe and sound... we stood underneath another one of the falls and found a cave about 40 feet up or so. i climbed up to check it out but jimmy decided he didn't feel like dying today so i climbed back down. at the end of the trail we decided to live on the edge and go off the beaten ... read more

From La Paz we had a full day travelling to New York, via Santa Cruz and Miami, arriving in New York late on Thursday evening. After checking into our hotel in Times Square we headed out to grab a late night snack and saw first hand that New York really is the city that never sleeps. Despite it being nearly midnight the streets were full of people and cars. We stayed in New York for a week and visited all of the usual tourist attractions; the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, Central Park, the Empire State Building (from the outside only; we went to the top of the Rockefeller Centre for the Panaramic views of the city), Wall Street (Guy is an Accountant), Times Square etc. We also went to a Broadway Show (Chicago) which was ... read more

Made it through my first week at Laerdal!! I started my assignment by reading through the 2007 marketing plans for each of the product lines. Across the plans, there are some inconsistencies and gaps in the demographics information, so I'm doing research to fill in those gaps and create current, accurate demographic profiles of each of the target market segments. For example, I'm trying to find the number of hospitals (and the number of specific hospitals, i.e. acute care or pediatric), hospital ERs, EMS/Fire agencies, military bases and hospitals, American Heart Association and American Red Cross chapters, nursing homes, registered nurses, pediatricians, etc. It's not going too badly - I've been able to use a couple of databases of hospital and EMS demographics that Laerdal has purchased, and I found some figures online (but the online ... read more

New York, d.8. maj 2007. Waauu, waauu og atter waauu, at vågne op i New York, "the City that never sleeps", det er bare noget, der virkelig rykker!! Avenue lige ... read more
