Niagara Falls
The Horseshoe Falls lit up at night Day 9 – Tuesday – Niagara Falls, New York Well, a little over a week in to our holiday...and we had our first big day of driving. Thankfully John has it down to a fine art (bloody Americans on the wrong side of the road!) and Jen is a great navigator.
We did hit a little traffic on the way out of Boston (man they have some DUMB freeways where vehicles are both entering AND exiting right near each other and literally crossing over each other) and we did get some roadworks....but all in all it was a fun enough day considering.
I think we ended up hitting our hotel by about 7pm or so, and decided to check out the falls by night. Yeh, that's right, as it was just prior to 9pm when we got to the Falls (American side) as they light it up from then.
Pretty for sure, but it was J&J's first wedding anniversary so we thought we'd be brave and cross on over to the Canadian side, and have dinner up the Skylon revolving restaurant. Well the border crossing was easy enough, except that we arrived at the restuarant
Dean & Barners
Dean & Barnaby Bear in the back of the car (Barnaby was given to Jen by one of the schools she works with, and the school kids have been following Barnaby's travels for the past year) about 15 minutes after they closed the kitchen GRRR! That wouldnt happen in NYC!!!
So we headed on back over to the American side (where our hotel is) laughing about how if you were an illegal immigrant/terrorist you may chose to enter the US from Canada seeing as so many people do it every day they would be somewhat lax - NOT! hahahah. We got interrogated by a grumpy American woman with such questions as:
* Where are you from
* How did you meet each other (hrmm funny story that, on tour in China on another holiday)
* What are your professions (i'm sure J&J were tempted to say honeymooners)
* When are you returning to England/Australia
* How did you get so much time off work (government slacker with long service leave, and long time employee who worked her butt off and has very nice bosses didnt fly so well!)
ANYWAY, we did make it back to the US of A and decided we'd indulge in some American fast food.....TACO BELL! Yehhhhh baby! That stuff is YUM (for the unknowing Aussies, it's mexican a la fast food). Even Dean enjoyed
Terrapin Falls
The first place we saw the falls from (in fact we think he's now obsessed with the Quesadillas!).
So anyway, we didnt make it to bed until after midnight so it was a LONGGG day, but so cool to see the Niagara Falls at night!
"Dean's Details" –
Just like long flights...long drives suck!
