The ride to the winery in Stonewall was filled with wildlife to say the least. The worst thing that I have ever seen was all of those spiders that came out of the desert and crossed the highway under our car! The tarantulas were awful! I do NOT like spiders. It was incredible to be going 70 down the highway and see a spider so big on the road that you see it lift it's leg while it's walking.... and that is exactly what happened. We wanted pictures of the, so we stopped the car on the totally deserted highway and Lindsey got out and snapped a few. Totally gross! We got to Fredericksburg which was a really cute little town, but mostly closed because it Sunday. Seems everything is closed on Sunday's around these ... read more

It’s hard to keep up with our blog when we stay in hotels that have Internet for $13 a day!! Sorry, but it’s not worth it Southern California was awesome. We met up with Lindsey’s Uncle David in Marina Del Rey. After driving down Route 1 all day we were really hungry! We went out to dinner at a popular Mexican restaurant right down the street from his house. The food was so good! We’ve realized that a big part of why we like a place whether or not they have good restaurants!! After we stuffed ourselves full we walked along the canals in Venice. The homes were absolutely amazing! A lot of them had windows that spanned the width of the wall and the height of the ceiling and they retracted so the homes ... read more

We have been a lot of places lately that don't have internet so we haven't been able to get things on the web! This blog will hopefully cover what we have been up to for the past few days. We left the Payne's house in Graeagle and headed for Lake Tahoe. We were nervous because the fires even now are still going. We didn't know if we would get stuck down there and not be able to get through, and we really didn't know what the situation was like down there. As of this moment, over 3,500 people have been evacuated from their homes and over 200 homes have been burnt to the ground. It is unbelievable down there. Our first stop was in Carson City, Nevada. Here we got our first oil change of ... read more

Lindsey and I headed out of the little town of Moab after spending some time in the sun next to the pool. We haven't really spent much time relaxing like that so we figured that we'd take the opportunity. We didn't really have a destination in mind, only that we were going to her cousin's house 14 hours away. We got into the car and headed west. The drive was pretty much uneventful until we reached Salt Lake City. We got to see the Great Salt Lake, which was beautiful. We got out at a rest stop along the highway and checked it out. We had actually taken a wrong turn and ended up on a different highway, which eventually lead to the one that we were looking for, but we were glad that we ... read more

Lindsey and I got up and hung out at Jai's house for a relaxing morning. When we finally got our stuff together we headed for Estes Park. Estes Park was a beautiful mountain town at Rocky Mountain National Park. We went to the Visitor's Center when we got there to check out what the town had to offer. Lindsey found a brochure for an American Wilderness Tour so that we could REALLY see the Rockies, off the beaten path. Well that was an understatement. We got into the truck, which was HUGE, and proceeded to climb a mountain in it, don't ask me how we're still alive. This truck brought us up the mountain, WAY too close to the cliffs, and literally climbed boulders on it's way up there. For the first hour of the ... read more

We woke up at about 8:30 and got ready to go see the Colorado Rockies play the New York Yankees. I had not seen my friend Todd Helton since I lived in California, so I was really excited! It was also my first time seeing the Yankees play and I was even more excited that I had brought my Boston hat along for the trip! We got to Denver at about 10:30 and parked the car at the field and lined up to enter Coors Field for batting practice. The doors opened at 11 and we headed in to go see Todd. We went down to the first base line and hung out with all of the rest of the autograph seekers for an hour and a half in the 95 degree weather… SO HOT. ... read more

We woke up early to get a jump on the Badlands. We ate the continental breakfast and hung out in the lobby for a little while. After breakfast we packed up the car once again and headed for the Badlands. All I can say is WOW. The pictures don’t really show how beautiful this place really is. We got there and were just in awe. The badlands stretched for as far as the eye could see. They were called the Badlands because back in the days of exploration, they were the Bad lands to cross. I could definitely see why. It was so hot and very desert like. There were many different view points that you could stop your car along the highway and get out to look at the view. We did this a ... read more

Chicago to South Dakota Even though it has only been 2 days since we’ve written, a whole lot has happened. Right now we’re driving from Mitchell, South Dakota and headed for Murdo, where we’re going to spend the night. I am very excited to see what kind of sunset we will have on the completely flat horizon. On Monday morning, in Chicago, we woke up and gathered our carload that we had taken from the car and headed over to that sketchy valet that we talked about before, which didn’t end up being too bad. We paid them and got into the car and looked for Millennium Park. The GPS didn’t like the tall buildings and basically did nothing for us while we were in the city. We did find our way there though and ... read more

Untitled We finished up our adventure in NY by going to visit Liz's parents in Buffalo. They were really sweet, we had lunch there, swam in their pool, and generally had a relaxing day. We left Buffalo at about 6pm to drive to McKean, PA. We drove the 2 hours...and arrived at the middle of small town America. As soon as we pulled into town, we stopped to fill up on gas. Lindsey and I looked at each other and both had the same thought. If we wanted to back out of this one and just keep going, that would be alright. We decided to stick it out and keep on schedule. We drove past the McKean Tavern which was coined The Best Place in Town, I'm curious if it was named that because of ... read more
