Hello Everyone! Only 3 more days until I depart for Mumbai, India for the month of July! I'm putting the finishing touches on packing my bags and getting ready for the adventure of a lifetime. I just received my recovery medical supply package from CFHI this past weekend. It is filled with a variety of medical supplies (syringes, gloves, cathader kits, alcohol swabs, etc.) that are collected from various hospitals around the country that would otherwise be thrown out. CFHI then organizes the supplies and ships them to students participating in their international medical elective programs. The students then carry the supplies to their host country as a donation- a great way to be introduced to the country and the medical staff! I will update this blog as often as possible to keep everyone up ... read more

ok so today as i'm getting ready i realize how much i hate flip flops (yes i'm wearing flip flops, go ahead Jeein laugh). seriously even if its for about 15 minutes that i use them to shower they are soooo uncomfortable. anyways so this time for the breakfast i redeemed myself, i hooked up my raisin bagel fat! my first tour was the Boston Freedom Trail. it was pretty cool if you like history. the tour guide definitely kiuaned, that foo was dressed like Sam Adams and was a real comedian. it was pretty classic. it started at the Boston Common Park, which is really nice and then headed out to many historic sites in boston. i saw John Hancocks/Paul Reveres/Sam Adams tombs, Paul Reveres house, the balcony where they first read the constitution...i'm i ... read more

ok so i get to my hostel around 11:30pm, just in time. in time for what you ask? just in time to make it to a bar of course. so i check in, go to my room and open the door, i'm expecting a bunk bed. but of course that wasnt the case, there's 3 bunk beds in one small room and 5 guys w/ no shirts. i'm like no mames, they're all sleeping. so i pretty much just toss my stuff in there and walk to a bar near by, about a block away. i just walk set up shop at the bar and start convos w/ the bartenders. they were pretty cool, they actually served my last beer at 2:03am! shit that never happens in sd, their trying to kick you out at 1:30am!! ... read more

A group of 12 of us went to Boston for the day. I ended up driving one of the camp vans (10 seater) and one of the counselors drove his car. It actually wasn't that hard driving on the other side of the road as you were sitting on the left side of the car. It's about 117 miles and 2hrs 15mins to Boston. We drove to one of the counselors houses (Mike Baskin) in the suburb of Brighton and his mum put on a 3 course lunch (dessert was leftover chocolate cake from graduation parties). During lunch Ed (from UK) bet Jose $2 to eat a large spoonful of jelly beans which he did in 2 minutes. Very funny, I'll upload it to youtube soon. We caught a bus to Kenmore square and started ... read more

Normandy Farms Family Campground was our next stop. Located near Boston, the wooded property has been in the same family since the 1760’s and is now also home to a Christmas tree farm. We took a drive to the JFK Presidential Library and Museum on the U. Mass-Boston campus. We were very impressed with the exhibits, photos, and audio/visual presentations of the President and First Lady and their families and would highly recommend a visit. Another day we rode the MBTA (train/subway) into Boston. It was a cloudy, chilly day but we enjoyed the harbor cruise and the Beantown Trolley tour where our driver provided lots of Boston trivia. We walked through Beacon Hill, an area with very expensive homes; and we checked out the Fanueil Hall and Quincy Market areas. After getting off the train, ... read more

Oh Boston, how I've missed you! It's a nice reunion after being gone for almost four years. It's just like I left it, sans most of my old friends, a few minor aesthetic updates to Boylston Street by Berklee, and a new carding system for the T. Had a late flight into the city last night and met Alena at her apartment on beautiful Beacon street where we chatted for a few minutes and then crashed a little after midnight. She has a cute studio, basement level and the perfect size to share with her sweet cat Rosie. It's so surreal to be walking around the city again! On one hand it's almost like I never left, but the weirdest thing is seeing all the new students at Berklee and not really recognizing any faces. It's ... read more

The sound of angels singing drew me closer, the high notes and harmonies expanding around me until my whole body was filled with this exquisite song of praise. I have always felt tearful in churches. Today, we by chance (is there such a thing?) wandered away from the busy South Bank of London (where we rode the London Eye and were dwarfed by the Tate Modern), across the Millenium Bridge, and into St. Paul’s - a glorious Anglican cathedral with stained glass, candelabras, ornate ceilings, and the welcome peace that comes when all present agree to take a moment to worship, celebrate, or honour their god. My heart fills with gratitude. I feel blessed. I am soothed and enjoy giving thanks to the many faces of God - and all that is. Hilary and I ... read more

Off to Boston this morning. LOng bus trip but made it much easier with introductions and information. OUr tour guide is Todd and our driver Greg. There seems to be a lot of really nice people on the bus and I have quickly become friends with my room mate Nicole. Boston is full of Civil War history and a lot of really cool buildings, not to mention a set of duck statues in the park. Oh and for all of those who love their old tv, I visited 2 sites of the show Cheers the replica and the outside. Very cool. It is a very pretty place bu the accent is driving me nuts, they dont pronounce their R's. Ahh well. We did a trolley tour that took us all over and Nicole and I ventured ... read more
