SEUFER6: DESTINATION: BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTES Monday, March 5, 2007 This morning we packed up 3 suitcases loaded them in the minivan and made the journey to the big beautiful city of Boston. The drive was only about 1 hour. We will be staying at the Hyatt Hotel in downtown Boston for 2 nights and at a nice bed and breakfast for 2 nights in the north end. My dad drove us all the way into Boston, followed his map and got us nicely to our hotel. Our room wasn't quite ready, so the bellman held our luggage while we walked to a nice tavern for some lunch. After lunch we were going to walk to the park, but it was too cold for Lilly, so we headed back to our hotel where our room was ready. My ... read more

I'm Sorry I'm Sorry! I know it has taken me way too long to write this, but i do have my excuses. The prices for internet access in Boston was ridiculous, and we were just too busy in New York to find a computer. But I will make up for that now by writing everything down! After being in my first 'Executive Lounge', getting into a very small and cramped plane heading towards Boston was a bit ironic. Luckily the flight only took 45 minutes, and it was such a clear day which meant we could see the ground for the whole of the flight (even at 35,000 Feet). We arrived in Boston, and walked straight out of the airport (no horrible/scary American Customs asking me stupid questions like "Why would you be travelling to Boston?" ... read more

Well seeing as I have begun preparing for my return to Japan this summer, I thought I would start up my journal again. In terms of preparation, I have sent my documents in to Keiko for review and hopefully will have my visa by the beginning of May at the latest. I also managed to find an awesome deal on airfare and got my ticket for $986 roundtrip with only 1 stop, which is awesome. If I were going for a shorter time I could have gotten it cheaper, but if you're staying in a country for more than 6 weeks the price goes up (T_T) I will be flying into Nagoya again, arriving on Friday evening. I have already made plans with Charlene for that weekend. I emailed her and told her that we had ... read more

Surprised myself by not crying at the airport...came close though. Surprised at how fluidly I moved around in the terminal's confines too. A little strange to blend in. Used to sticking out? Both relieving and unnerving at the same time. Simultaneously monogamous. Simul. Simul atque. The Latin comes and goes, usually in phrases and patterns. Kept trying to sift out Icelanders…tall, blonde islands. One sized me up en route to her gate. On the lookout for lonely blonde travelers; other islands. I keep oscillating between sturdy confidence and a feeling of obvious ineptitude. Like a smudge on a white shirt. Mixing patterns that have no business together. The bird from an Anthro 104 film that couldn’t manage to assemble mating dance moves in the right order. Signaling my shortcomings. N chose a disconcerting piece of writing ... read more

Hey Guys the blog keeps on screwing up on me and publishes my drafts, here is Boston for a second go. Sorry it has been awhile since our last blog it has been hectic, so just letting you know that we are all alive and well. Gell Ian and I with our new recruit Sarah rode into Boston in the trusty steed, late as usual because we got lost, with one destination on our mind, the Mecca of Boston, the be all and end all, the Crane Poole and Schmit building. For those that aren't familiar with this important landmark it is the building used as an exterior for the David E Kelly TV show Boston Legal. When we had to ask at the tourist information which building was Crane Poole and Schmit we expected to ... read more

Wow, I am definitely off the grid at this point. I am in a Boston Hostel. Not sure what to say about it. There’s a billion very unique people. One kid is playing the piano. He is actually very good. He has no sheet music. I am truly impressed by his ability. There are lots of Asians. Parking is costing me $10 / night and the hostel is $35 so it’s not real cheap to say the least. I am thinking about walking to Fenway. It’s a little sensory overload at the moment. Man you see all kinds here. A lady to my left is eating some soup in a styrofoam cup and a banana. Not going to gain weight eating that. The guy has stopped playing the piano I think to rest his hands. My ... read more

After arriving in Boston from Nova Scotia we dumped our bags at our crumby hostel and set off to explore. Our intended route took us up through the main area of Boston following the path of the river. It was immediately obvious that Boston is a city of many different contrasts and has, over the course of its long and interesting history, been subjected to many varied influences and cultures the result of which is a city where a 10min walk can have you in a completely new and interesting neighbourhood. Boston and Sports It is also immediately obvious that Boston is a city that lives and breathes sport. We had no sooner left our hostel than we bumped into the TD Banknorth Garden, home of the Boston Celtics and the Boston Bruins. To show just ... read more

We are having a really rocking weekend so far. Last night, we went to watch the movie “Babel”. We loved it. Its hard-hitting, very realistic, very esoteric and rather bizarre at parts. But its gripping and gives you goose-bumps.the cinematography is stunning and captures the rugged terrain of Morocco very well. they've also collected a superb cast. Brad Pitt looks smashing with the salt pepper hair / beard and the rough, unkempt look. Also had dinner at a rather nice little Thai joint. Rocky Rockport After a lazy Sunday morning, we headed out to the ocean. Nearly an hrs’ drive from Boston is the very picturesque and sleepy town of Rockport. On the way, we passed through some beautiful lakes with pretty lakeside homes. Stopped for lunch at a restaurant called Captain Hook !! At rockport, ... read more

We are in Boston for the Thanksgiving weekend. Left White Plains at 5:30 in the morning, reached NYC and caught the Fung Wah bus ( incredibly cheap Chinese fare). Its pouring throughout the journey and for the rest of the day as well. Land up at Sanjit’s best buddy’s place, have an awesome thanksgiving lunch ( eating chicken masquerading as turkey) and then go for dinner. Of course, we’re complete strangers to the hosts but it’s a very motley crowd comprising mostly Indians (and one Turk).Other than me, Sanjit and the hosts, everyone else in the room has a Phd!!! mathematics, finance, economics, microbiology…you name it…..anyways, it makes for an interesting evening and I don't know if i'm high on the wine or the conversation.Boston sure is the intellectual mecca of the world. Today, I wake ... read more
