Saturday, August 4, 2007 I guess the time went by and I did not update this too regularly, now I leave in 5 days! So Molly and I went to camp and had an absolute blast. We headed to Elizabeth’s first and spent the night there with her and as always had a great visit. Thursday we drove to camp. Tod & Nancy were to meet us at 3:30 at the landing. We did our usual shopping and got to the landing and waited a bit. George Jr. was there too and they were putting new boat cleats on the docks. Alicia and her kids and grandkid were there swimming. Molly got in too to swim. We knew Jimmy was to arrive too sometime but not sure when, sure enough when we were already to take ... read more

We'd been looking forward to Boston for most of the trip, and we really had an awesome time while we were there. The first night, we went into town to visit Danielle's friend Erin. She lives in teh North End, which is Boston's Italian district. They were holding one of their several summer Saint's Day festivals (I forget which saint's festival it was), which we wandered around in for a bit. It was a little street fair, with live music, food, statues, decorations and lots of people! Then we wandered down to the touristy side of Hanover street, had a nice italian dinner on the rooftop of one of the many awesome restaurants, and splurged afterwards on a few italian pastries (which the district is also famous for). It's also a tradition of Erin and Danielle's ... read more

Weer is goed. Rond de 30 graden steeds. Morgen CN tower, en dan naar Niagrafalls.... Groet!!! ... read more

Boston has been our favourite place so far - very much a Uni town with a really good feel. We spent a total of four days exploring the place and seeing the sights, but it must have rained on a least two of these days. We've learnt that a lot of America's history is based around this part of the country and almost always has something to do with the British. Either us invading or the Americans trying to get rid of us. On the day we arrived we spent the afternoon doing washing (this really made us feel like we were back at uni) and went out for dinner at a Vietnamese resturant and finishing the night off watching the Red Sox getting spanked by Kansas City in a bar. On our first full day ... read more

Anchorage to Detroit to Boston Tuesday, July 17, 2007 Elan dropped me off at the airport and I headed in around 5:30. Check-in was not too bad but the line to go through security was rather long and tedious. They had one detector open and the TSA man was taking a very long time to check and ask questions. Then we had to show the man who was guiding people through the metal detector our boarding passes again. Got to my gate with plenty of time and waited to board. The Northwest Airlines plane was full they told us; boarding was done though with an all call for all rows to board at once! Of course this took forever. I had a middle seat-ugh! The worst part was the man in the aisle seat who was ... read more

The trip to Boston was again roughly 4 hours, this time travelling North. We arrived at the Hostel just before 7pm. In the evening without really knowing our way round, we got a cab into the area of Beacon Hill. Here we had some food at a Thai restaurant. We were going to go out after, but once we had eaten we decided to leave it tomorrow when we knew the place a little better. Instead of getting a cab back we took the time to walk around the city a bit before going back to the Hostel. Next morning we went into the city centre and walked the Freedom Trail. This is roughly a two hour walk lined out with a constant red line along the pathways taking you past many of Bostons historical ... read more

Hey finally photos!! only took me long enough to figure out how to get them on here. Please go back a couple of entries and have a look as ive divided the photos of New York between the last two. So arrived in Boston on Mon 25th, on the Fungwa Bus from Chinatown, Ny only $15 so a bargain. Took 4 hours but seemed to be here in no time. Have to ditch some stuff from this backpack of mine, my back was killing me by the time i got to the hostel, after two subway rides and a lot of walking, so ill be leaving some stuff behind in Boston. Dont ask me what though!! My first impressions of Boston were good, probably because i came from New York!! You can walk down the ... read more

Phew, it's hot here in Boston - it's probably around 35 degrees, but it's not dry like in Las Vegas, so you feel it more. Having lived almost nocturnally in Las Vegas, my bodyclock was not exactly properly calibrated. An overnight flight to Boston (I can't sleep on planes) sent it completely haywire. When I arrived at the hostel in Boston at 9am, I decided to have a nap; and then got up at 5pm. A day completely wasted. Of course, I couldn't sleep the following night and the obese, smelly Persian guy in my dorm - who proved the theory that the bigger they come, the louder they snore - didn't exactly help matters. My mood wasn't helped when I discovered my overspending in Vegas meant that I can only spend a paltry US$28 a ... read more
