Day 7 – Sunday - Boston Well, after 5 months (since China) the mad couples (John & Jen and Dean & I) have been reunited lol. Deb & Andres were nice enough to drive us from their place in NH in to our hotel in Malden (just out of Boston). The drive was about 45 minutes. We arrived in the morning and knocked on John & Jen's hotel door to dump our bags - this was followed by super amounts of squealing, jumping and hugging...and that was just John & Dean (KIDDING of course it was Jen & I, and the boys just cringed and wondered what the next 6 weeks would be like with us two back together again hahahah). We caught the "T" (subway/train) in to Boston, did some shoe shopping (yehhhh BABY ... read more

Updates, updates... So the good news is that I have: 1) A subletter 2) A visa The lease is on the way, and all I have to do is pack and take my exams. Well, almost. So, here's a small problem I have recently discovered. My visa is a 3 month visa, but my flight dates are May 18-August 21. See the problem? So when I spoke to my boss, I discovered that even the 3 day discrepancy could cause me to be barred from re-entry for a number of years if I overstay my visa. Big problem if I wanna get a job in Japan, right? So Keiko is hopefully going to be calling the immigration office to see if I can get an extension, but if not I will have to re-schedule my ... read more

Well with a week to go before exams, the stress is piling up. As the subletter I had lined up pulled out, I am also struggling to find someone new before I leave on the 14th of May to go back to Ohio. I have someone coming over today, so hopefully she works out. The only problem is she has a dog, and Courtney, my roommate, is not too keen on having pets in the house. However, it's either this or not having the rent paid, and I'm thinking it's better to opt for the dog. ..In other news, I've finished all my outlining and have this entire week to study, which is the best I've done since I've been in law school. It also helps that the weather has finally decided to turn nice. I ... read more

I wasn't planning on writing tonight - my last night in town - but I never imagined how emotional it was going to be to leave here. As I left downtown, having said goodbye one last time to Jeff, Leah, Julia, Erin, Joe, Lucia, Talia, Hogan and plenty of others, I was overwhelmed by the finality of it all. Leaving Hannah's apartment in Central was the final moment that overwhelmed my senses and made me realized the gravity of the life I was leaving here. I haven't felt these tears stream down my cheeks since I was boarding the plane in Sofia, Bulgaria to head home after my semester abroad. What an amazing time I've had these last 4 years and what amazing friends I've made. I never thought leaving would be so difficult and I'm ... read more

Ok everyone! Well it's getting to be that time again! I received news from Keiko yesterday letting me know that my certificate of eligibility from the immigration office has arrived, so hopefully I will have my visa within a couple weeks! I have also made some headway on finding a sublettor for my apartment, so all that's left is to get through the next few weeks with exams. In about a week and a half I have a mock trial on which my sole grade for the class rests, so wish me luck everyone!! Then I just have 4 more exams to get through........gah. This is total deja vu from last year I know, but hopefully this summer will be a brand new experience. There will be new people, a job search, and hopefully a few ... read more

So I'm back in Lexington, waiting for the departure April 17th. Unfortunately, it looks like I'll be doing Australia alone. My cousin Wes can't make it and that totally sucks, becuase he was really looking forward to the Land Down Under. But if he gets into Stanford off the waitlist (which I am confident he will) on May 15, he's coming to meet me on the other side of the world - which is still pretty cool. Send out your positive energy for my travel buddy, cause he deserves it! So I'm out of Boston April 17 to LA for a day, then land in Melbourne April 20. I hadn't even considered Melbourne, but got a good flight there so what the hell - first unexpected change, I guess! I'll need to read up on it. ... read more

Just got my acceptance from USC Friday and it's gonna be a crazy week of packing my apartment, quitting my job and finalizing my school info for next year. Looks like I'll be headed to Little Rock AR to meet up with my cousin Wes, who will be accompanying me on these adventures, before heading out to LA then on to Sydney. If anyone has been to these places, send me some info cause I got a lot of ideas, but nothing set in stone - just the way I want it. You've all had your own crazy adventures let me tell you what they are like now!... read more

Well I have a little less than 8 weeks until I leave for Japan again, and not much less stressful than last time unfortunately. I am still seeking someone to sublet my place for the summer and apparently the office has yet to locate any short term housing arrangements for Naho and me. This last part I am not as worried about since, they didn't find anything until about 3 weeks before my arrival the last time. However, I am stressed about finding someone to sublet my place. I suppose I still have another 5 weeks, but I really want to get this taken care of. Also, exams loom ahead and although it's better than 1L year, exams are always stressful, as they are the only grade we receive for the semester on very difficult material. ... read more

Pretend I'm still in Boston - here are me and Mum at the Union Oyster Bar, the longest running restaurant in the United States! I ate too much bread, as Dad is always warning me not to do, so that smile on my face is very forced as I did not want to finish that clam chowder! ... read more

To say I am exotionally exhauseted would be an understatement. The conference has been wonderful and I feel veryu validated for the way in which our agency and approach adoption. It is hard to see the struggle so many adoption triad members have had to face becasue of the closed system. The shame and hurt that is caused by secercy. The one great thing that happeded today is that our keynote speaker was Darrly McDaniels - otherwise known as DMC from Run DMC. I was able to speak with him and of course had my picture taken! Tonight we are going to Little Italy in the North End so I hope to blog again with the details of that yummy trip. I am already dreaming of Mike's Pasteries again!... read more
