Updated: Trips - activities 26th October. Well it's been a great week so far, a few firsts - rock climbing, sailing, canoeing and a brush with border patrol, who were a long way from the border... I didn't have my passport with me but gave them my passport number which I have now memorised after filling it in so many times. Thursday I went rock climbing for the first time ever, did the VH1 climb at Echo Crag in Franconia Notch. I went with Tyler and Nick who are leading the climbing trips for camp. A group of 12 of us went to Boston for the day. I ended up driving one of the camp vans (10 seater) and one of the counselors drove his car. It actually wasn't that hard driving on the other side of the road as you were sitting on the left side of the car. It's about 117 miles and 2hrs 15mins to Boston. We drove to one of the counselors houses (Mike Baskin) in the suburb of Brighton and his mum put on a 3 course lunch (dessert was leftover chocolate cake from graduation parties). What a long few days - I'm sitting here at 6am after having the best sleep ever - a solid 8 hours. I was in bed last night going through some photos after dinner and a shower (1st since Monday night) and I almost dropped the camera on my face I was so tired... I've had only had about 10hrs sleep over 4 days. At the orientation meeting I thought the hotel was moving but it was just me... in the 18hrs of travel time from Melb-Auckland-LA I had about 1hr sleep - I watched 5 movies on the plane! Complete the Annapurna Circuit trek. Approx 300km in 18 days. Highlights - the whole trip - no phones, cars, hot water for 17 days - just eating, sleeping, hiking, having a ball - trip got me into fitness industry. Lowlights - coming home... :) oh and eating 2 plates of pepper steak after eating vegetarian for 18 days... not a good idea. Travelled in 21 days from east to west after flying in from the west. Photos found at http://scake.fateback.com New York - 3 days (lost 1 day due to bad weather in Pennsylvania which delayed flight). Highlights - watched baseball game at Yankee Stadium which was also delayed by bad weather previous night, playing frisbee in Central Park, Empire State Building Lowlights - losing a day, Statue of Liberty - 3hrs of climbing for 1 minute at the crown, 15mins to get to the bottom.
