I woke up the next morning trying to figure out what I wanted to do. I didn't get my act together the night before to sign up for any tours or to try and figure out if I wanted to rent a car. That morning, I decided to do the tours instead of getting a car. The receptionist was very nice, and we spoke Spanish as I was trying to figure things out. So I extended my day in Salta for three more nights, and decided see as much of Salta as I could. Considering that I did that with Mendoza, I wanted to see Salta... and I'm only in Argentina once, so I figure, why not? As I finally figured out what I wanted to do in Salta, I headed to the bus station to ... read more

Receiving very little sleep from the night before, I decided to get ready for the day. There were a few people in my room, and one of them reminded me of a girl from back home that I went to elementary and middle school with. We also happened to go to th same college, but lost touch. It was kind of weird to see someone that looked so much like her, but it wasn't her. Since we had the same plans for the day, she asked me if she could head out with me and I said, "Sure, why not?" We brought our guidebooks and maps out and wandered around the city, looking at the beautiful architecture. I didn't have my camera with me, but Evin did and she will be sending me those photos once ... read more

Dag 37.

We arrived in Salta early in the morning after another night bus. We got a taxi to the hostel we´d booked only to discover that there had been another mix up with our reservation and there were no double rooms available. Luckily they had another hostel in town with space, they let us have a nap in one of their dorms for a couple of hours until the room at the other hostel was ready and then paid for our taxi there. After finally getting our double room we dropped our bags and went for an explore of the city. Salta is 1150 meters above sea level at the foothills the Andes and is surrounded by hills. Its a stunning setting, sunny, green and very tranquil. We headed to the main plaza which is surrounded by ... read more

Stop worrying people! I'm fine! I am, once again, functioning off of maybe six hours of sleep in the past three days. This is not good. I'm going to write about my bus trip and then head to bed after a hot shower. Today was so awesome, you're going to love reading about it. The title of it will be: How a city girl treks through Gargantua del Diablo in street clothes off of 20 minutes of sleep at lightning warp speed. Not even kidding! So my bus ride to Salta left at 8:30. But it didn't really leave until 9. Argentines tend to run late. Leaving the hostel was bittersweet because the owner Claudio was a blessing! Seriously, if it weren't for him, I probably would have been lost in the hospital. Everyone else at ... read more

Skoleuken begynte daarlig - iallefall for Janes vedkommende.

Thursday night was a bit of a mad one to say the least. As my niece, Antonella is heading back to Cordoba on Saturday as that's where she studys, we decided it was a good excuse to have a Bar-B-Q at our house for the youngsters. (i.e. all of my nieces and nephews and their significant other halves). So after I finished a few hours of private tuition at the house I started running around getting everything prepared before the boys came home to light the fire. Setting the table, pulling extra chairs out from the house, making salads, preparing snacks. I did it all. In the middle of all this I had to shower, change and continue thrashing away at cutting up tomatoes and onions for my salsa appetiser. Thank god for food processors!! Around ... read more
