Today I did some mid point fix up on my bike and there was no real problem. However I did want to check the motor drive freewheel for looseness. I found a repair shop that did tighten it just a little bit. So little that I did not notice any difference. That night I went to the Lebenese- Syrian cultural center to listen to a violine concert by a couple of young Ukranian Kids. So strange but they were really good. So end this day... read more

Driving along in an automobile It´s hard to know what to write about Argentina. Unfortunatly we were only there a week so I do not feel we have quite done it justice! Crossing the border was a long affair due to several people in the group not realising that they had to keep their visa slips from immigration and were thus forced to pay 150 US Dollars. We then crossed over and had to queue again to enter Argentina, but the officials seemed to enjoy skipping over us and allowing locals to go before us. We eventually entered though and headed to Puerto Iguazu. After Iguazu, it was to be several days on the road to Salta. Our first stop was in a little random town called San Igancio, where several people visited some Jesuit ruins ... read more

Today I got up early to see if I can get a yellow fever shop. The tourist office told me to go to the hospital. I found the old one and got my shot. It was free. I was aprehensive because I did not no if they use disposable needles. They did. I then went to the local health department to get the official international card to make it border legitamate. That night I watch cable TV and went to bed So end this day... read more

From Buneos Aires we flew to Salta, in the north of Argentina. Just a few hours in a plane but not very nice. Every flight we have been on near or over the Andes has had some horrible turbulance, pretty frightening stuff. Anyway after landing in Salta like a Yo-Yo, we arrived in a tranquill and friendly city. The following day we went riding, of course you have to ride in Argentina! We had a bbq with consisted of plate after plate of meat, salad and wine, during which a boy was practicing lassooing the horses in the paddock. What patient and kind horses, to not lash out when this boy just chased them round and round in the heat! The horses we actually well looked after and so I was quite happy to go out ... read more

Yesterday I went canopying over the Juramento Canyon. To be quite honest, I was more worried about hiking up the mountain than flying across it on little dinky ziplines. I always get nervous when hiking in groups because nobody wants to be the fat kid who is huffing and puffing because they are so out of breath. BUT! to your surprise well more to my surprise.. i was one of the few who was barely out of breath. I think all my trekking in Bolivia in the high altitude has turned me into a tough girl who can conquer any hill or mountain. =P We made it to the top of the mountain where the first zipline was. The tour guide pointed to me and said can you step over here real quick. Im thinking I ... read more

I arrived in Iguaçu after a mammoth 2 day plane /bus journey. My stay in Rio lasted all of one hour. After sleeping in Salvador airport until 4 in the morning i got a plane to Rio that arrived at 0630 it was straight to the bus station in Rio and then straight onto a bus to Iguaçu that lasted 20 hours. More importantly I was heading towards new frontiers which was really quite important due to the fast approaching expiry of my visa. Got onto the Brazilian side of the falls and was absolutely knackered so I decided to stay in Brazil for one more night. I found a cracking hostel up some country lane, dumped my stuff and headed off to the falls. What can I say? Quite colossal really. They seem to cover ... read more

It was another long day on the bus to get us from Tupiza to Salta. We were up at 3am to catch the 4am (teeth chattering) bus from Tapiza to the boarder. Once we got into Argentina it was about an eight hour bus ride to Salta. We arrived at our hostel about 8pm that night, just in time to have a quick shower and head out with a group from the hostel to a traditional folklore resturant. This was my first introduction to Argentinean meat, and by god it was good. I am not a massive steak eater, and this thing was massive. I did pretty well and managed to polish almost all of it off. Ahh yumm…… Over the next couple of days, me and Karin didn’t really do too much except sit around ... read more

What can I say about Salta other than it is paradise. I have eaten enough steak to make up a cow, drunk enough cocktails to milk a lime tree dry and found a use for my Cuban salsa lessons. I went out dancing last night with the girls I upgraded with. It was a last minute decision after a late dinner at the hotel restaurant -- no dress ups, no make up, just beach dresses and flip flops. The club we went to had a young salsa band and we danced our feet off. The other girls went home and I ended up sharing a pizza and fanta with the band and roadies. Now it feels like I´m on holiday.... read more
