Well...here it goes once again....more fun times to add!! My time in La Paz was fantastic. I was able to get some shopping done, watch a couple of movies (the new Johnny Depp flick and 10,000 BC), as well as have some more time with the sweet Frenchy boy who kindly surprised me one morning. ;) I really quite liked La Paz. I am going to miss it. Sure, it was a city and I am not much of a fan of larger cities....but La Paz has a lot of character. Probably my favorite city that I have hit in South America. Sadly, my time there had to come to an end since I am slowly running out of time and want to see sooo many more things. So, last Sunday I said goodbye to the ... read more

Hola amigos! Again lo siento para the delay in getting back to you. It truly has been a hectic two weeks, which I now have a couple of hours trying to summarise. Well we arrived in Puno on the 16th march, and apart from the polluted green algae entranceway to the lake titicaca (At 3900m the world´s highest navigable lake), one decent high street with pubs and restaurants, and a huge papermache Puma overlooking the town, it was in a Welsh accent, a pretty shitty city! It didn´t help matters that I was coming to the jagged peak of my illness. Apart from the gravel in the throat and the amazing consumption of handy andies, the altitude wasn´t helping the sinuses and I was longing to come down. On top of this I was (see photo) ... read more

When I arrived in Salta, another four hours by bus, it was quite a shock being back in a big city after the tranquility of Cafayate. I've met plenty of people around Argentina who've been here, and raved about it...and the city's slogan is 'Salta la linda' (Salta the beautiful). Unfortunately it's more like Salta the cloudy, as the weather's been miserable since I got here. Although other people had said there is so much to do here in Salta, when I spoke to the people at the hostel, pretty much all of it involves going on expensive excursions to the surrounding countryside - which I'd just come from. Being a penny-pinching cheap skate, I decided I wasn't prepared to spend so much money. I'm heading further north after here anyway, nearer to some of the ... read more

HELLO! So, it has been a WHOLE month since I have gotten on here, it's about time right! Anyways we finally went on our first school sponsored excursion since the last on got canceled (or rather it's been postponed now until April the 17th). Two weeks ago we traveled to the Northwest of Argentina visiting several pueblos in the provinces of Salta and Jujuy. We flew out of Buenos Aires on the morning of Thursday the 13th of March arriving that afternoon. Then we took a bus to our hotel in the city of Salta, fended for dinner ourselves that night and got some rest. The next morning we took a bus to a pueblo called Cafayate, whose industry is mainly based on wine. But we stopped at several places along the way. First we stopped ... read more

Having entrusted virtually all our clothing to some unfortunate to launder, we left San Jose de Jachal, the cleanest, most neatly-pressed cyclists that you could hope to meet - a futile gesture, if ever there was one. Our road took us up to a hilltop where stood a monument to local poet and gaucho, Buenaventura Luna. What a marvellous name; I think I might adopt it. One of his poems was reproduced in a tiled mosiac, but I noticed that one of the tiles at the foot of a column was incorrectly placed. There was a good reason for this: in the absence of effective adhesive, it was supporting the remainder of the tiles, as I discovered when I helpfully tried to restore the mosaic to its former glory. Anyway, having rebuilt the monument, we scooted ... read more

...Iguazu falls on a boat, heading to the Andes, Salta the beautiful, and the introduction of Sam Sparrow: Wine connoisseur... Afternoon ladies and gents. I really am getting sloppy with the updates aren't? Again, its Been over a week since the last one. I promise to try harder. Regardless, the adventure continues with somewhere we've already been but needed a different perspective of, Iguazu Falls. The journey back from the pantanal was a fairly swift 15 hours, and now it was time to leave Brazil for good. What a country. We'd only scheduled in two weeks here but managed to do over a month without even scratching the surface. Sure, it destroyed the budget and I may have difficulty buying food for the next few months, but it was worth it. The sights and the people ... read more

This is just a quickie to update you on the crazy night we had after we last wrote.... J; Ouch! We left our lovely hosts Scott and Paula with a bang on saturday. The night before on friday had started with Bellinis whilst we prepared the for the arrival of the guests. Scott prepared an obscene amount of meat for a grand total on ten people that would be arriving. Asados seem to be effortless here and they have a great system of having a raging fire to begin with then spreading out the hot coals for the cooking. Its a ritual. The fire has to burn down completely for you to get the coals which normally means your well on your way to quenching your thirst and building up an apetite. The food was ... read more

I have done most of my washings and midpoint check and repair of my bike. I consider that this I the midpoint of my bike expidition. I have loged 2500 kilometer of my planned 5,000 kilometer. The early moring I did my finall washings. About 1:00pm I headed for a new local resturant I found yesterday and ordered their daily plate special. It turned out to be some type of cish dish. Still it was still good and very cheap. My erron for this day is to prepare my pack for the ride tommorrow, get and reply my email, call home and see a dance performance at the municiple theartre. I got all the work done. I even called home. It was more expensive than calling home from Chile. The calls are not internet calls. I ... read more
